Awesome news!
Cook, Serve, Delicious! is out on Android
I figured since the Giantbomb quick look is sort of what made the game big you guys might be interested.
The rape gun the other person was referring to is the alien anal probe weapon. And I agree with them, the drug reference stuff is dumb but banning it on account of something like this makes sense
Hmm. OK.
I mean, Im not really sure how or where that appears in the game, so maybe the context is a little more explicit, but you could make the argument that theres nothing automatically sexual about an alien anal probe, as its typical fictional use is scientific on the part of the aliens.
Also, this is a ridiculous topic.
This game looks horrrrrrrrrrrrrrribleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.

Worth discussing/mentioning?
Wrestling's great these days. Antonio Cesaro vs. Daniel Bryan, heck yeah.well, would you argue that wrestling is not terrible today?
I responded to Jeff about it, but I'm fairly certain I read that it is explicitly sexual because some of the people you probe are WAY into it so they can't play the "it's just science" angle.
His response reminds me of in AVGN's TMNT:III review where Michelangelo called Raphael a pile of dung, Raphael objects, and Donatello says that some cultures respect dung, and it is an alternate fuel source.... making it not necessarily an insult.
I highly doubt Saints Row isn't using an alien anal probe as something other than a sodomy gag.
It's kind of ridiculous to get upset/annoyed/whatever about a probing gag in a game where you inflict violent mayhem.
I know. I'm already tired of the endless stream of touchy liberal bloggers making this The New Thing to Hate before it's even happened. It's kind of ridiculous to get upset/annoyed/whatever about a probing gag in a game where you inflict violent mayhem.
Arcadey cartoon violence isn't the same as arcadey cartoon rape/sodomy.

live quick look of DCS Huey coming at 2:30 pacific time
Culturally, no. Intrinsically, yes.
I get wanting to raise the narrative in games or whatever, but this is Saints Row we're talking about. Saints row. The game where you can wield giant purple dildos in melee combat. It's never going to be the bastion of political correctness.
I tweeted Patrick about that new STALKER mod. Seems pretty hardcore, but has an additional horror/zombie-related campaign or something similar.
Which mod is this? I've been meaning to play Stalker.

So what happened to the DCS QL?
Couple of things: First, I really enjoyed saints row the third when I played it for the first time earlier this year away from its launch and a lot of the hype surrounding it. Secondly, I'm not even upset about the inclusion of the weapon. What I am questioning with my original post and response is that I thought Jeff's answer to the question was lacking. To try to present it as something not what the obvious inclination of it is, a probable sodomy joke, seems silly, and that's why I posted my ninja turtle comment.
Thirdly, I feel that your remark that there should be a difference between culturally and intrinsically violent scenarios confusing. We don't have violence in games against children, and the reception and reaction to a hypothetical mission where you kill a bunch of children versus killing a bunch of adults is entirely different and warrants different reactions. If you're suggesting that there is no difference between violence through the act of shooting someone and violence through rape or anal sodomy, I guess you can say that yeah, both are violent. However, to completely and dismissively ignore the cultural aspect of it seems borderline sociopathic and clueless to society.
And, again, I am not even reacting to the weapon in question, just Jeff's poor response and now yours and the grumpy/dismissive Junior who posted above you.
oh god i'm never going to go in a helicopter
