Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn - Beta Phase 3 Impression: Phase 4 August

Wow, that is so much higher than the other scores. Out of curiosity, what is your CPU clocked at (I assume it's overclocked)?

Indeed. It's oc'd @ 4.3 currently with the beta Nvidia drivers. My score was lower before but I was also running it at a higher res, 2560x1440 and 1920x1200.

But you know what, there's no way it could be that high. I wonder if there's a bug in this. I have a 2 monitor setup and I bet money that something forced the benchmark to go into the background and it forced some crazy gpu calculation. I'm going to try this again and move away as soon as it starts.

So, the character creation benchmark supports SLi/CFX?

I don't know how the hell I downloaded some random EU benchmark (maybe previous tool?), but it definitely wasn't character creation.

I ran it, anyways, and got mid-5k's with 2x 6970's, but I do recall somewhere on the page to download benchmark it said SLi/CFX is currently disabled until they get more info from NVidia/ATI.

Either way, I'll try the Character Creation bench when I get home, since I assume it supports it.

EDIT: The benchmark I ran was around 460mb, not the 2.57GB that the character creation is.

Just before I was debating on getting a second 660Ti, but wanted to see how comparable SLi results were, and I think your SLi 560 Ti just sold me on it.

I was thinking of doing the same thing on upgrading to 660 ti's. What is your base score with one?

So I can import my 1.0 character into this, edit him, save him, and all will be set for the open beta? Thats awesome. That shaves off a good chunk of time.

No, you can't import your 1.0 character to this program.

If you're going to play on your 1.0 character, you won't be able to modify it until the official release (most likely).

If you plan to start fresh, you can create the character now, save it, and use it to start the beta.

8168.973MB
NVIDIA GeForce GTX 660 Ti(VRAM 4038 MB)

That is at max. My 2 year old machine rocked it. SLI made a huge difference.

It really does. I got an average frame rate of 80 running the benchmark on high at 2560 x 1600, which was totally unexpected. After that, I installed the latest beta drivers to see if I got a performance jump and forgot that it disabled SLI. Running the benchmark again, it was like a completely different machine.

So glad I invested in a second card.

Some what of the same build. I will upgrade the vid cards then. You should hit 15-16 I would think on the upgrade.

for example? in beta 3 there wasn't this kind of bug, right?

If the almost 100% HQ rate exploit during crafting from phase 3 would have occurred now on phase 4, then there would have been a wipe most likely, so be glad that was found on p3.

What if I already imported my character when the beta test allowed for it? Wouldnt that data already be on my PC and then I can use it here?
I guess it doesnt make too much of a difference since I dont plan on changing much. At least Ill get to tinker around more with a new one and see if I want to make changes that way.

Not bad for a $320 computer. High Laptop settings, 1920x1080, only thing turned down was the shadows to the normal/medium setting.

Average Framerate:73.267

I'm talking about the character itself, that's not stored in your PC, but in the servers.

Are you talking just about the appearance of making a new character look like an old 1.0 character that you're not going to use anymore?

As I said, you cannot modify 1.0 characters until after the official launch (pending confirmation since it might happen before as in phase 4 or early start).

If you are talking about saving the appearance now for later when 1.0 characters can be modified, then yes, you can do that now.

This is what I meant. I gotcha. Misread your original reply.
Thanks for the info!

Yep, I was right. If the benchmark moves to the background it must lower the rates or something.

Benchmarks, characters, and data mining. Oh my! You guys have been partying hard since I went to bed. Three pages worth of awesome! I'll have to join in the festivities when I get off work!

Surprised how much better optimized this benchmark is than the old one. Running on Maximum and got almost exactly the same framerate (~59fps) and score (~7000) this time as last time, except I'm running at 2560x1440 instead of 1920x1200.Stock i5 750, 670 OC, 16gb RAM.

Looks like I can put off that CPU upgrade for a few more months.

This is still running entirely in DX9 right? DX11 enhancements coming at or after launch?

Cross reference from the other thread: (I'm going to change my desktop soon.... soon I promise)

Turned on LOD for distant objects, so probably drop off 500 points with that on.

I still need to work on my overclocks (I'm new to OC, so I have been doing some reading before diving in). I used an app that came with my rig to OC for me, but I want to do manual OC for the experience and possibly granting a better OC (besides I'm still covered if my OC melts my processor).

Also, can't wait to get home from work (just 6 more hours to go, the day is going so slow), so I can spend the rest of my night making characters and fine tuning them.

I've been hearing on various forums(including this one) that the ps3 version will come with a code that will work with the ps4.

Is this true?

Also, if I already own the 1.0 pc version and buy the ps3 version, will I get the preorder goodies and early acess?

Baseless speculation.

Don't think so. It's likely that Square will offer some sort of discount for people who pick up the PS3 version, but they haven't said anything yet, especially nothing about a voucher.

Already decided that I'm gonna crossfire this game as some point. Looks so pretty already, and that picture awhile back with really high anti-aliasing makes it look even better. I'll have to wait until I can afford to rebuilt a large chunk of my gaming rig though. :P

Also, bit of a shame they wouldn't let us play around with other classes armor. I kinda wanted to see how my character would look like as a Marauder.

People who bought PC version didn't get a discount on PS3 version and people who start out with PS3 version aren't going to get a discount on the PC version. Why in the world would they give a discount for the PS4 version?

Haha, it is all Marauder armor. Though, the level 20 one isn't the best tanking gear from what I remember.

Im the only one who thinks that the 20 gear looks the best (excluding the AF)?
It's probably not level 20 gear in the full game.

It's this set, which is most likely Archer/Bard specific equipment from the same tier as Vanya/Darksteel/gryphonskin etc.
Archer.jpg

(as a side note, the archer on this concept art is wielding a Sarnga, a level 50 bow that was used to make the Relic Bow during V1)

The 'level 30' set is GLA/PLD specific, same tier.

(again, the Gladiator here is wielding a Mailbreaker)
