Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS: Info Collection - Dojo, Mega Man and Trailer! 2014!

Jigglypuff's just a lazy Kirby (though Wigglytuff is the business).

How is Jigglypuff a lazy Kirby? They play nothing alike other than being round, pink, and have multiple jumps. You could say Dedede and MetaKnight are lazy Kirbys just because they float, are round, and stuff AND came from the same creator.

Plus Jigglypuff and Kirby came from two different companies.

So if Pikachu in Melee had Red's hat.

and Red showed up in Brawl

Does that mean Smash Bros. U will have a Gen III trainer?

When you love something enough, you notice the little things! Haha.
I really hope so. Mudkip, Grovyle and Blaziken...Perfect.

Villager Kirby definitely needs horned hat. It's an iconic, nostalgic look for the series. You kids with yer fancy new-fangled gas masks and crowns... time was you got one variety of hat, two if you were prepared ter swap gender

They use the same model and take shit time to animate.

In the RSE remake, they retcon it so it's really his hair!

In Melee, you can play as Nana in a certain alt color. You can't in Brawl if I'm not mistaken...

In melee Nana is the main color, in brawl they changed it to popo and yes you can play as nana if you change colors like you could play as popo if you did it in melee.

I think Red should stay as he and his Pokemon are pretty dang iconic.

Ehh, I would argue that red isn't popular, its another black( well red had black hair before anyway) haired kid with a hat with more questionable pokemans skills. But that is an entire argument on advertising and a slew of other things that deserve their own threads rather than be tossed around in here.

He represents the iconic generation though!

I'm not against adding any other trainers though, it would be kind of cool since it'd allow us to play as more Pokemon without flooding the character select roster too much.

So being pink and round instantly means they are reusing the same model for Jigglypuff and Kirby? No. It could be possible, but I highly doubt they are. Either way, EVERYTHING in Smash Bros. takes "shit time to animate". It's just part of game development. Why is Jigglypuff's animation less important than any other character? She is unique. Jigglypuff is important to Smash Bros. history, like it or not. Plus with the reveal of her being a new Fairy-Type, her chances of returning possibly shot up more. Not that her chances were down to begin with. :)

Don't even know why I'm arguing, but I love Jigglypuff.

Nana was never the main color. Popo was and has been. They just switch depending on the color chosen.

I would argue that would be a kid who's name starts with an A, not red. And every generation is Iconic to someone. He was just first.

I would like to see a trainer that isnt red, not because I wish to see other Pokemon, Its because I hate red's outfit. So hard, he looks like a gas attendant.

But rambling aside other trainers would be nice.

The black and white Kirby was actually substituted with a yellowish green one. Same happened for Dedede and you know it's the color of the gameboy screen.

To answer your question and statements in order.

Yes, they do use the same model. Like how ken and ryu use the same model but dressed up differently. This isn't a new thing it saves time on game development.

No it doesnt somethings take longer to do than others, epically if its a new character.

I am not saying it is or isn't important, I am just commenting on speed.

I would argue her importance, she kind of like blanka. Not as many people play her as you think, and she was just there first. So Blanka ( I know street fighter 2 and ryu and sagat were in 1 but you know what i mean). This my opinion by the way.

Maybe

You may be right.

Well, if you think about it, making a sphere in 3DS Max, Blender, or any other model making program is not hard. So using the same model is a huge stretch.

Yes it cuts down on development time to re-use a model, but in the way that you had pointed it out was wrong.

I could also argue that Luigi and Mario use the same model, Ness and Lucas use the same model, hell even Kirby and the PokeBall could use the same model since they are both round and spherical, but does any of that make any huge difference in the long run? Jigglypuff being the same model does not make it any less of a great character.

I feel like I lost my focus, but anyways, reason I'm saying what I'm saying is because the way you made it sound like, just because Kirby and Jigglypuff could be using the same model, means she is a lesser character and doesn't deserve the attention a character deserves in development.

But, let's agree to disagree. Everyone has their own opinions on characters anyways. But no one should wish for a removal. I want EVERYONE back honestly. I don't want to pick and choose. :)

Are we about to get into what constitutes a model? And we are talking about Capcom, the kings of reusing sprites and models. Really?

Or we could make it very simple, and you could show me where Ken and Ryu used the same basic model dressed up differently in a recent major release. Maybe it's some sort of Street Fighter IV trivia I don't know, but I very much doubt it.

We are about to have a complicated semantics argument on what constitutes a model. You believe they have enough differences to make them different models, I believe because their differences are only slight they are the same model.

We disagree, can we not do this.

I do not think anyone is a lesser character O:

It doesn't take very long for her to do.

I like evil ryu, before 4 he wasn't all that different from ryu.

I just wanted to see your example.

I just wanted to see your example.

If you Pm me we I will show you.

I do not want to start an argument now because It is my weekend off, i wish to play DCUO. So even if you do not agree I wouldn't be able to respond for hours.

Shoot me a pm when I get back I can tell you why I think what I think and anything else ya want.

Most models are just heavily modified mannequin/generic models, so what you consider to be the same model implies all humanoid characters in games are the same model.

Small differences and poly/wire-frame changes = new model.

Oh, okay, I'll wait while you go play some video games.

Ya know what Sure lets go with that, that makes sense. New model.
See you all later.

Why on earth are you so averse to argument? That's half of what makes this forum so great; good, well-mannered arguments.

* in steam browser*
qq and others know that I am willing to argue for things far longer than they need to be. Today however isnt that day, you are right.

Good day.

Ah, well, I don't mind drawn out arguments so if you and I happen to have a disagreement, don't feel opposed to argue! Good day to you as well.

I'm pretty sure Village was talking about sprites. Yeah originally Ken and Ryu featured the same attacks with only slightly altered sprites.

It's the same with Kirby -> Jigglypuff and Samus -> Falcon. You can see it in 64 where they have some normal attacks being similar.

That's grayscale kirby. Notice his feet, mouth, and eyes?

And that Daisy Peach doesn't have the proper amulet as well as the actual differences referencing Daisy's dress like the one in Melee did.

aU6IAfz.png

To be fair, Melee's "Daisy" color still has the wrong hairstyle, even if they had a different model for the dress.

Have some character related questions to this game:

  1. What characters do you think are most likely to get cut from Brawl?
  2. Did Sakurai state third party characters would only be guests for that game. I haven't seen him say that anywhere.

We have no confirmed numbers for cut characters but we would assume that we might lose between 2 to 6 characters, However there is a interview that he mentioned that he hate to cut characters but if he ran out of time then he had to cut few characters. They are trying to fit everything into the game.

I'm not sure about that.

The only veterans I could see being remotely considered for exclusion are:

Toon Link
Falco or Wolf (not both)
Lucario
Ike
Lucas
Snake

Everyone else is 100% safe to me.

This seems like a pretty decent list for what veterans they could cut. I could see Lucario replaced with some other "Strong" pokemon easily.
