This seems like a pretty decent list for what veterans they could cut. I could see Lucario replaced with some other "Strong" pokemon easily.

I bet they replace Lucario with the new Mewtwo evolution.

The only veterans I could see being remotely considered for exclusion are:

Toon Link
Falco or Wolf (not both)
Lucario
Ike
Lucas
Snake

Everyone else is 100% safe to me.

You should add Sonic since he's not remotely 100% safe since it's third party and we don't know Sakurai's rules on guest character appearance.

There are some really significant differences between the Star Fox guys and the Mother kids, be it animation and/or application. Semi clone is a term I can get behind, but the mark that Melee left on people is deep. Melee had real clones and I am very grateful for the Brawl differences that were made for characters in the same series. Toon Link and Link though... There needs to be some major changes animation wise aside from kicks. Same goes for Ganondorf.

I always thought it was a missed opportunity for Toon Link in that he didn't use more TWW-inspired elements like swinging around the Skull Hammer or something. The Deku Leaf could also be a fun way to glide (although it'd work much differently from Pit/MetaKnight/Charizard)

Also, trolling the Smash fanbase is actually incredibly easy.

Personally, the main issue that I see is that both are still considered clones by many players, but Brawl's clearly had more resources put into them, considering their exclusive animations and redesigned attacks. So, all the extra resources seem like they've been wasted. They'd better not waste resources in things that won't be noticed by many people and just make more Melee-type clones to inflate the line up.

PK Love are those little hexes in his smashes and attacks (at least I thought). They need to change his final smash though.

Well, you should be happy to hear this from me. I only played Mother 2 aka Earthbound, and I actually preferred Lucas over Ness because I really like his moveset and gameplay.

Same here. I still main him in Brawl. I gotta to love his choke slam. However Project Melee made him even more awesome. Comboable after choke slam and new up attack.
