Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

i guess soul sac is too new for ps+

maybe we'll get a Ys psp game! that would be rad

TOP OF THE PAGE GO BUY SOME PSX GAMES:
Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Front Mission 3
Final Fantasy IX

Is the Soul Sacrifice online community a bit dead? I'm trying to do the lower level quests but there seems to be nobody joining the rooms :(

Just started gravity rush and damn this game is fun. Hopefully this makes me want to play on the vita more since I've got a ton of games in my backlog for it.

When is a good time to buy a 32GB memory stick? I can hold out for a bit, but when is the next opportunity for a sale or what, am I going to have to wait for Black Friday?

Where are you?

Im in UK and there seems to be a fair amount of people still online.

Not to many at the very low lvl. more like lvl 30 plus. The lower stuff is prob best to just go through on your own with AI Allies anyway as its fairly easy at that point. Also the early ones have more of the killing lots of smaller monsters quests which suck online as people just fighting over the sacrifices the whole game.

Yeah, I suggest doing those pacts by yourself at least up to Chapter 5?

Get a grasp of archfiend weakness' and try to gather as many offerings as possible by getting better scores. Also, go back and complete branching pacts in each Chapter so you can grab the trophy while you're at it.

Lower level pacts are no fun at all online unless everyone is low level.

When Vikings Attack is kind of poo as well :(

I know, right?
That's why it seems PERFECT for NA PS+.
I read reviews and stuff when it was released and watched some gameplay and thought it was way overpriced and I'd get bored with it quickly.
To put it succinctly, I would not bother clearing space off my 32gb card to play that game.

I already have Legends pre-ordered for my Vita, so it'd be perfect to replay Origins and see how it looks on it.

True. Now, Rayman Legends is going to include a section with FORTY Rayman Origins levels redone in the new art style. It's just crazy. That being said, it would probably STILL be worth it to have Origins on Vita. I have it on both PS3 and Vita and never even finished the PS3 version. It was best on Vita for me, with the OLED and dpad.

I'm enjoying PixelJunk Monsters, however I do find some of the design flawed and quite punishing as a result. While I'm okay with having to get through a level without losing one of the little dudes to get a rainbow, I hate how the enemy patterns and direction they enter widely varies between each wave. You basically have to play through a level twice so you can memorise how each wave moves and build appropriately.

There should be a window of error, like 75% of your flock survives, to get a token to advance to the next set of levels. Rainbows can still be a reward/rating for a perfect run, but they shouldn't be a necessity.

Haha, so true.
I strongly disliked it:)

Still too strong for my taste I'm afraid :P

Can I get a notch down please?

All your points were valid but I know you know they all had good moments and good aspects to them, the game on the whole was a great experience for me. Not always second-to-second gameplay (as with most RPGS imo) but the whole thing was an excellent followup to 7 and 9 for me.

The story had some loops and some standard dum ff stuff, but that's what people want...let's not forget the fmvs too

on the vita, sure

X-com, sleeping dogs, saints row 3, and deus X were pretty solid

and if you are into BF3

All subjective. ;)

For me, none of those games were good choices. For example, I had platinumed Deus Ex HR more than a year before it came to IGC when it hit sub $20 pricing. Hitman Absolution could be good, but EU got that as a BONUS game back in May. Sleeping Dogs was close, but I think we got it about 6 months after EU did and my interest had already passed because I'd bought it on PC for <$15.

NA PS+ is a fucking dumpster fire.

Even though I already have Darkstalkers PSP, that game is fantastic. If you like fighting games at all, you should be happy that's coming. It's one of the 4 PSP games I still have on my card and I refuse to delete it. I kind of wish Darkstalkers Resurrection had used the ROMs in it for the basis of play so I could use Donovan in DS3 with GGPO on PS3. :\

Bit.Trip Runner 2 will piss a lot of people off simultaneously with making them happy -- I'll consider that one a win if the game ends up being cross-buy like Limbo so we get the Vita version out of the deal. But I'm not holding out hope there.
Maybe I'll actually check out and play Machinarium now though.

Even though I won't play through any of them they are all good games. You purchased a few of them yourself, which proves they made some good choices.

Obviously you won't like all of them. I can't imagine them putting together a better list of titles in such a short period of time that will ever beat that.

Oh, and Uncharted 3 SP campaign.

bought Rayman Origins and Lumines at $13.22 each and have not played them..
now Rayman is $6.75 :(

fantastic game on the Vita though!

EDIT: but I got it during the spend $50, get $10 back.. so it's not too bad I guess?

i'm a little pissed they couldnt give Origins for free when EU got it.

oh well...will play machinarium since i only play the first few levels on steam... have never play origins though i want to i just would rather get it for free and buy legends...

i'm ok with a weak august of PS+ because dragons crown will be taking all my time anyways...

Vita wise pretty meh except for the Rayman Origins + price! Pretty darn cheap. Strange how it costs more then the PS3 version? Already played Machinarium on PS3 when it was free on + and will not play it again because of a certain damned 5 tictactoe puzzle. Never played a Darkstalkers game so dunno bout that.

PS3 wise, will finally get into the crappy IMO successor of the ever brilliant Blood Money. I'd also rather play Bit.trip 2 on my vita :C

Is this the confirmed list of games for August? Do they not add more games?

Oh, and Uncharted 3 SP campaign.

The EU list beats it. They get brand new titles or at least recent titles at times. They get brand new Vita games. They get the critically acclaimed indies for Vita instead of the schlock they through at us in NA.

I'm not saying they're all not good titles. All I'm saying is that for the core gamer that uses PS+, most likely they've played and beaten everything that's "good" by the time it's added (or have no interest in it).

I just looked it up and bit trip runner 2 is not cross buy since they are self publishing on vita and on ps3 aksys handles the publishing.

Figures as much.
Chalk that up to another game I won't bother with then. Hell, I just bought the PC version during the Steam summer sale. So yeah.

SCEA really blows... they suck at PS+, they're not doing jack about the "compatibility" of digital PSP/PSOne games that are already working in ALL other regions... and there isn't really jack we can do about it.

As much as people like to make Shahid a scapegoat, we NA folks could really use a clone of him.

release dates, for the most part, shouldn't affect whether the discussion of a "good" game added to PSN+ is good or not. regardless if you've played the game before or how long ago is released, you yourself feel that a game released years later shouldn't get anything less than it's original score.

EU gets stuff before us, but our release dates beat them in everything else. I'd rather have releases a week or more earlier than have stuff on PSN+ earlier.

Just finished Gravity Rush the other day. So fun and innovative, I only wish the story was more consistant. I love the gyro aiming though, all games should have this feature. I went back to Unit13 and was trying to make fine adjustments by tilting my Vita

anyone know if Lumines and Sound Shapes were on sale prior to this?
I know they were on March...

calculating how much I would have saved if I waited lol

I bought the Megapack Vita, it includes 10 free games. Anyone have any idea how that works?

Is it like credit to the value of 10 games on the PSN store? Or is it set games preloaded?

I believe the Megapack gives you vouchers codes that you redeem directly through the PSN Store. Nothing is loaded on the memory card.

Oh fuck you SCEA.

It's the second time that they're double-dipping on their PS+, by giving a game that they already gave on the other platform.

(last time was Jet Set Radio, now it's Machinarium)
