The PAX Prime panel schedule is out and I don't see Giant Bomb anywhere. Looks like they are not coming this year. Understandable since it is so soon after Ryan's passing.

The CryptWold QL really made me interested in the game. I don't know how long I would personally stick to playing it, but I had a great time watching Patrick tackle the game. I hope it becomes a semi-occurring thing.

Crypt World is awesome, I just finished it. It's not that long of a game and it's really worth playing.

Alex said they're going. Jeff hasn't written a description for the panel yet.

Yeah I finished Crypt Worlds today too and it was great. Prob. a 4 hour game max. 2 if you get lucky and figure things out quick.

It definitely does weird things to your mind "If only I could piss on one of these sky pilgrims "

Anyone find the tenth golden bug?

Crypt Worlds is Lynch meets Kafka meets creepypasta meets Sweet Bro and Hella Jeff. I bet it'd be good on a Spookin With Scoops environment, even if it's not really scary, just so there can be live chat participation.

Dragon Crown just looks crappy. I don't care about the big boob lady but at the beginning when they were talking about how good the game's art looks.. it didn't

also the gameplay looks tedious

I thought they were pretty well balanced on the views of dragon's crown's art as well as covering the mechanical aspects really well as well, but the whole issue still blew up over here as well as in the QL comments.

Man, you really can't bring it up without something blowing up.

I can understand both sides to the DC argument and what people like and don't like about the game.

I'm of two minds when it comes to Skullgirls myself. On one hand, the oversized and unproportionate breasts are a bit too much but on the other, the devs are doing pretty much everything I'd want a modern fighting game to do. They are releasing on PC, doing a beta (that lasts in perpetuity for the community to test new upcoming changes), have good tutorials (in a perfect world SG's tutorials should be the bare minimum for all fighters from now on), releasing each DLC character free for the first few months (they are priced later), using the best netcode in all of fighting games, etc. In the end, I'm supporting them with my dollar because as much as the artstyle doesn't appeal to me, I really want the things Skullgirls does right to be adopted by everyone else in the genre.

After a certain amount of time you can kind of become completely blind to problematic issues in things, especially if there's a mechanical basis to them that you find more interesting. Skullgirls for instance I played when it first came out (and again now) and after initially being somewhat weird about the artstyle, I ended up only 'seeing' the mechanics (except for the fucking win-poses, goddamnit Valentine). It took a chat with a female friend of mine to remind me that, oh yeah, that's actually kind of weird and alienating to a lot of people to have a game that is almost entirely a relentless T&A parade. I mean, that and Bayonetta are probably two of my favourite games around and I kind of have a weird relationship with them on that front.

Personally, I think that's the danger of that kind of stuff permeating culture; the extent to which it normalises and makes acceptable that kind of thing. Western culture still thinks of overly sexualised stuff as freaky, which in some ways is good, although it often implicitly accepts other narratives - men are heroes, women are damsels for the most part, if you see a woman in a fantasy game her armour is not going to exist, etc, etc. That's not to say people should make what I like 24/7 or whatever; it's not a demand for censorship. I like Skullgirl's artstyle. But I can recognise why other people find it problematic, and when people start complaining "Oh, sexualisation in videogames is the new buzzword for clickbait!", well... yeah, they're partially right, but they're also not really saying anything of worth.

I honestly think that people should stop being so squemish on presenting things in a sexual context, because humans are pretty sexual beings, but there should be more of a push for gender equality when it comes to sexual depictions instead of completely censoring or eradicating it.

Which really is dragon's crown's problem. It really only explores the sexuality of the female characters, and from what I've seen doesn't do so with male sexuality. Other than the dwarf.

Could've had a steamy hotsprings scene with the magician. I agree.

edit: But then again, the last time someone questioned Vanillaware's artist he did post that Dwarf pic as a joke. So he's probably NOT that interested in actually exploring male sexuality. :p

Shame though, because I bet the fighter is deliciously beefy under all that armour.

edit: all this sexual malarkey aside, holy hell is the game hard to follow with 4 players. I love kamitani's art but goddamn, less detail might actually make it easier to follow.

I think it has much more of a problem in that some of those posses and character designs are just grotesque and creepy. I'm all for sexy/even crude obscene sexy, this shit is just gross.

Wait until you see Roland's pecs.

Yeah, exactly that. Was playing the Skullgirls beta over at a friend's house and his sister walked by just as Valentine's win pose appeared on-screen. That was awkward.

Still going to support Skullgirls as it does a lot of other things so, so right in terms of an actual fighting game.

wasnt subbed when they did Omikron

watching it now

gawd

lol, I watched that again recently too. I wish they had played more of that game, it's one of my favorite RPCG. I wish they'd do another random PC game again...even if Dave's not around, I wanna see some more.
