3DS Streetpass Experiences

It looks like I'll max out on SPs (unless I clear my queue while I'm out) every time I bring my 3DS out with me. Pretty nice perk of living in a city. This will probably make me want the new games even more, unfortunately (good job, Nintendo!). It'll be nice to finally put more of a dent in all my incomplete puzzle panels, at least.

Ooh, hadn't heard of this relay thing before. Now I have another reason to go by my local McDonald's--in addition to the top-notch cuisine, of course.

Went to my local McD's and got nothing. I guess I must be the first one to relay there.

I got really excited looking at the map on Nintendo's site, I have 8 spots that are relatively close to me. Was out to run an errand so I stopped at 5 of them, got nothing. Hopefully active soon, because Streetpasses are really few and far between for me. This will be a really nice change once it's in full swing.

I (hopefully) dropped my data off at a few locations to attract any other earlybirds.

I'll try to see if there's data to pick up later in the week.

Heh, the McD's by me is basically it. If nobody stops there with a 3DS, I probably will continue to not get Streetpasses for some time. That's living out in a rural area for ya though. Sucks, but the consolation is that I do a lot of walking, so at least I have coins to spend.

I pass by a McDonald's on the way home. Tonight my JP 3DS got a tag that was around the time I drove by it; US 3DS got nothing as usual. Not sure if it was the relay or if there was legitimately a 3DS user in there.

I'm returning to the scene of the crime.

Fully expecting that nobody else has passed McDonalds or Subway since I did yesterday.

I should be in fresh, dense urban environs tomorrow to give the relay a proper test.

Went through the 8 Nintendo Zones in my town last night, didn't get a single tag. Now, either I seeded them or it just didn't work. Would be nice to know which, though.

I live in Madeira island and I think that here I've gotten 3 or 4 legitimate streetpass hits. When I went to Belgium this year I brought it along with me and over the course of a week I got around 12 hits.

I think it's a nice feature but I haven't been able to get much mileage out of it so far, then again, at least it works. The same can't be said for the Vita's "near" app, at least where I live.

I stopped checking Near since I lose all my Near data every time I switch PSN accounts to play my other-region games. If you're not using a 3G Vita and it flat out isn't working, you need to submit your location to Skyhook (this is actually the first hit in Google for "skyhook near" because the issue is just that common).

Updated in the train station last night and took a wee walk around Glasgow for about 40 minutes, getting 8 StreetPasses. I definitely picked up one going past a Starbucks but no joy from any McDonalds. Can't say for definitely that it was the Relay though. Stood next to a busy McDonalds on Argyle Street this morning just after 9am, so I'd have expected someone with a 3DS to have been there. Got nothing though.

I guess it'll pick up once more folks update.

There are literally around 15 or more of these on the route that I walk to and from work in the City of London. Can't be many 3DSs around as the only hit I had this morning was from a guy who must get the same train as me as I've had hits from him prior to the relay going live.

I went to Nintendo World for the Pikmin 3 launch event. I kept on connecting to the Nintendo Zone that they have there. I am pretty sure majority of people connected to the zone so it was really hard to have streetpasses. Hopefully this relay should "fix" it... :/

I didn't notice anything when I went past the local McDonald's on the bus this morning. I know the 3DS can pick up the signal as I have once downloaded New Lead content from that Zone while sitting in the same spot on the bus.

Went to cash a paycheck tonight, and drove past 2 McDonalds "restaurants", 2 Starbucks, and a FedEx/Kinkos.

Got home -- I had 4 Streetpasses.

I normally don't get them when I drive, but...?

I wonder if the kingdoms are scaled to your own levels...

I have 4 left. The guy I just beat was at 60k.

Yes, the kingdoms are scaled to your army size when you first choose to invade them. Despite my best efforts to pare down my army size before the Emperor, I ended up with him having an 800k army.

Got another 40 tags today walking around.

Met my first person in Warrior's Way with over a million troops.

Woah. I thought I was doing well having beaten it twice and being on 600,000 troops (only to lose the first battle of the third quest and drop to 545,000). No idea how people are getting to 9,999,999 already.

If that's in NA, they almost certainly farmed out play coins by manipulating the system time.

I've had two with 9,999,999 troops. Ruined my ranking table now.

Would it help if you delete those Miis from your plaza?

This is quite worrisome. I don't care if people cheat privately, but personally I don't do it and I'd hate to have my rankings maxed out by people with suspicious counts.

I'm guessing that the range of the wifi signal from a Nintendo Zone is larger than one from a stranger's 3DS. That'll probably make it even easier to take advantage of the relay feature.

Does anyone have a confirmed relay tag yet? I went to a McDonald's this morning and I didn't get one. Is it possible that so few people have updated their systems at this point? I guess we'll see if this improves over the next week or so.

I actually went through the McDonalds drive thru for breakfast this morning. Both my NA and JP 3DSes were with me and I confirmed via the home menu that they were both picking it up as a Nintendo Zone and had good signal strength even though I didn't set foot in the building. Nothing seemed to happen.

On the plus side, they slightly undercooked the yolk in my Egg McMuffin, which is just the way I like it.

I got one pass with today's Circuit. No idea if a relay or not (timing makes it a possibility but verification needed). Next circuit (Saturday) I'll sync my phone and 3DS and jot the times I visit each zone with a notepad and see if they match any passes.

I did get a spotpass about the feature though and contrary to the Nintendo UK site is says version 0 of 6. or above (not 12 like the Nintendo UK says)

9 today which is a personal best and this was only a normal day at work with a wee walk at lunchtime, I can time most of them up to hotspots I passed so it seems to be working pretty well in Glasgow anyway. I'll pick up those other two StreetPass games now I think.

The first boss on floor 5 of the mansion one is ruining me. Is it right that I've not seen any weapon upgrades by this point? I'm doing so little damage and getting wrecked so easily I feel I must be missing something really obvious.

I've yet to encounter a boss and I have weapons with attack ratings up to about 40. Are you charging your attacks?

Didn't the update only start rolling out less than two days ago? Certainly some people haven't even played their 3DS since then, or they declined the update temporarily. They also might not take it with them every day, or even have SP activated to begin with. I'd give it til the weekend at the very least.

surprised to got a streetpass in mcdonalds inside the walmart of my town in Quebec (Mascouche)

usually nothing when I go there nor Futureshop / ebgames.

kind of relieved :) even had a pink piece :)

Yes, I got four last night after going through five different AT&T hotspots.

Definitely. I am within a NintendoZone about a block away from a McDonalds. Hopefully this means my drives are productive now. The only passes I get are when I go into Target/WalMart/Toys R Us with demo units and few and far between just walking around.

I visited the 8 Zones in my town again today, after doing so yesterday too. No StreetPasses. Guess this will take a while to take off.

I give it about a week or so. I notice the people that tag the local store demo units are up to date and always have the newest puzzle pieces to grab. If you visit 8 and didn't get anything you probably seeded the hotspots and people will get your tag and keep interest going.

Yeah. Off the top of my head it has about 50HP and I do 1 damage off a normal attack and 8 off a charged one, if it hits me I take about 10 damage so I tend to die kinda quick. Just seems to be such a jump in difficulty that I'm missing something.

Ok, good news. I'll keep trying.

The other thing I'm really curious about is time/proximity. If I can just walk past a Nintendo Zone location vs. having to actually go in and wait for a few minutes then this will be enormously more useful.

You need to time your attacks properly so you have enough time to block. Always have at least one fully charged battery so that in case you get attacked while charging, let go the charge and block the attack instead.

I just beat that guy last night. Make sure to try all of your weapons, specifically weapon types. I have powered up a bunch of my weapons and yet all of them were doing 1 damage except for one weapon I have which was doing ~7.

Have you been powering-up/combining your weapons as you've gone through the quest? I have continually combined weapons as much as I've been able to (given my gem inventory).

Have you been filling in each floor completely before advancing or have you just advanced as staircases appear? I have done my best to fill in each floor leading up to the boss on 5.

I've been streetpass trading with my old 3DS for months now. It is getting so stale.

I can't wait for my Disneyland blackout summer to end haha.

Can you not counterattack the boss like you can normal enemies? Landing an attack on normal enemies as they're getting ready to attack (basically, as soon as you see the attack name appear) cancels their attack entirely.
