It's for the SNES version. They thought since they are releasing Smash for two systems they may as well release one for all Nintendo system that don't have a Smash game.

Ooh that'd be excellent. And inbetween, you fight on top of an actual giant SNES. You know racing on a giant DS in Mario Kart was awesome.
That's probably being too technical though. Aren't they really called models?

Again, that'd just be my guess. That pilotwings image didn't look like it could make up a stage all on it's own. Sakurai loves his huge set peices and to just lift the design from an SNES game just doesn't compute to me. That said, if it is part of a larger stage design it could be anything really... A history of pilot wings in general, a mash-up of SNES games, hell it could even be a part of a 9-volt inspired stage, essentially making it Wario Ware stage by extension.

Same here. I was surprised that EU is 39 minutes long if the report is correct since NOA is only 27 minutes.
Does anyone think Sakurai might have removed hidden characters for the same reason he isn't doing a story mode (spoilers posted instantly online)? Luigi's been hidden for all three Smash Bros., and he's even hidden in the Mario games, so I don't see what other reason Sakurai would have for revealing him so early.
