Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

That's the definition of meh DLC for me.

Instead of throwing more bosses like that they shoud put 1 or 2 more companion sorcerers with stories and some new monsters.
Or a new side story chapter

(1) It's free.
(2) It's quality.
(3) At some point, they gave out a brand new companion quest for free as well.

Exactly. I think Soul Sacrifice seriously deserves some recognition amongst gamers (That it sadly won't get for reasons.... And it pisses me off for some reason)

This game has pretty much done everything right and more by my book.

- Launch game holds depth and packs content

- Game is well updated and has been improved with new feature sets

- DLC has been FREE and not only that.... The content is fresh, long-lasting in its nature and plentiful. The DLC alone adds almost 3x the amount of content "archfiend" wise

Since I bought the game, new shit hasn't stopped pouring in.. that's called support. That's called catering to your consumer, And Im more inclined to spend my money with those types of business' than any other.

VitaGAF, If you don't have this game, You should seriously go grab it. I have been very impressed and satisfied with my purchase since Launch. It deserves every ounce of success. It saddens me that the games that take the easy route or the ones that never even try to go above and beyond are the ones constantly rewarded by gamers.

Great Game indeed.

EDIT:
- Buy Soul Sacrifice! Lol
- Get Dragon's Crown NOW!!!!
- Gamescom!!! whooop!!!
- Add your games to PS+ AutoSave upload. It's a lifesaver

Yeah, how's that working out by the way? I know the WiiU is getting a lot more of indie announcements even though it's newer than Vita and it's doing just as poorly, sales wise.

Seems like we've had quite a few indie games for the Vita, and a fair few announced doesn't it?

Stuff about SS

This is a case in point for games to get re-reviewed a few months on. It really frustrates me that people are so eager to get the "Exclusive review" that they neglect some of the past launch stuff. Krater on PC is the perfect example - new characters, co-op mode, massively improved performance but still sitting at at 50 ish metascore.

While wasting some time on metacritic I saw that there are only a few Dragons Crown Vita reviews and that puts it on the top scores::

93 Persona 4 Golden
91 Dragon's Crown
89 LIMBO
88 Rayman Origins
88 Machinarium
88 LittleBigPlanet PS Vita
87 Guacamelee!
87 Velocity Ultra
86 Tales From Space: Mutant Blobs Attack
86 Hotline Miami

interesting list I would say.

There are some, but quite a few great ones are being announced for WiiU and no sign of Vita versions. It needs more if it's to be considered a natural home for indies.

Anyone managed to connect to others for a game in deathmatch village? I did the training and it controls alright, shouldn't be too bad online but can't get a game in. Okay, working now! And I was the only one... eh, it's seems decent though, will try later, gonna go see if DC came.

£8 for sly? what .....

Nice to hear that Kickbeat is coming September 3. Not too far away. Also can't lie that I'm a little disappointed it's coming to PS3, too, as the Vita needs all the exclusives it can get. At least it's Cross-Buy and only $10.

Not only that, but "games media" (psh or the lack of...) Totally butchered Soul Sacrifice to mainstream audiences giving the illusion of a substandard mediocre game...

And that just isn't the case... Its crazy... Its oozing polish, atmosphere. Production values are top notch. Presentation is above par, and content is packed! What more do they want? No, the game is "repetitive"..

I mean no shit sherlock? Games are "repetitive" by nature. The hunting action genre factors into that tenfold... The game was made to be picked up and get 2 or 3 matches played in under 15 mins. (You can play wayyy longer though! / 40 min epic boss fights ftw!)

They didnt even review the multiplayer... and that is the core game...
Majority of game journalists are so shit at their jobs.. and it bothers me. Because good games suffer at the expense of their ignorance and their agenda.

I seriously wanna open up a game review blog/site later in life that brings the authenticity back to "reviews". Yeah, its an opinion and all but lets base it off knowledge of gaming history and factual gameplay... Not what you wanted the game to be in your mind...

Holy crap the cross-save feature in DC is amazing. I wish Monster Hunter did it that smart.

You upload your save to their server and download it on any machine. You can then copy that save to any of your 3 save files. It's a very quick process.
Wow, that's neat. I hope it works for cross-region saves, probably wont though.
Yay got my sixth Vita Platinum from Velocity Ultra :3 (would have 7 if it wasn't for the damn HC Risette Fan >_<)

Next up I'll start either Lumines, Unit 13 or Ninja Gaiden. Dat PS+ <3. Tho NG plat would prolly be hard as balls so might just do a normal playtrough.
Congrats Frank!
How's the Vita version of Sly: Thieves in Time?
Seriously tempted by the EU £10 cross play sale but I'll be spending 90% of my time playing it on Vita
It runs pretty well minus a few hickups with the framerate in specific areas/missions in my experience, well worth it at that price.

Woah woah woah - now we don't have enough indies on Vita?! Now I've heard it all in this thread.

Sure - there's always going to be some missing, but I'm sure they're working on it - there's bound to be competition out there to get promising indies signed up to your machine.

The first part I agree with - the second is a troublesome area. If we put someone who LOVES monster hunter games on SS it might end up with a higher score than it perhaps merits, the idea is to remain impartial and judge the game based on strengths and weaknesses - after all - Sony isn't selling Soul Sacrifice JUST to people who love MonHun games - they're selling it to everyone.

It was a Vita exclusive at one point, right?

I guess cross-buy is just playing it safe. :/

Kickbeat wasn't going to make anyone run out and buy a $250 piece of hardware.
So I don't really see the problem.
It's not like Gravity Rush 2 has been announced to be cross-buy.

Let's go rage at the PS3 owners for stealing out exclusive! They must have been money hatted!

...Wait.

:lol

Well, the problem is that no one really wants to commit to a fully 'exclusive' Vita game.

Cross-buy games are still cool, though.

I'm fine with smaller titles like Kickbeat being multiplat/cross-buy. Sure, it'd be fun to brag about it being exclusive, but smaller digital titles like it aren't system sellers.

Nobody's even REMOTELY "raging".

It's not a problem. It's just disappointing to lose another exclusive. That's all.

Indeed. I mean, the only cross-buy game I've switched where I play is Guacamelee and that's because I don't have room on my card to redownload it, so I've been playing the DLC on my PS3.

Other than that, for games like Hotline Miami, I play the cross-buy 90% of the time. I'd like to think a lot of other Vita owners do the same.

If its multi plat, and Vita is just like big bros, Vita gameplay >> all. It just feels...right.

I know most everyone agrees, aside from unplayable portions on Vita a la Sly.

So Deathmatch Village is pretty crappy. It's free and only took like 2 minutes to download so I can't really complain, but still. Played 3 matches, Won 2 of them. Yeah it's pretty meh. To be fair I've played way worse Vita games that actually do cost money so as I said I can't really complain.

Yeah, I'm not seeing a problem with Kickbeat being cross-buy. Hell, isn't it a vita developer point that you can port games between PS3/Vita really easilly? If it cost them hardly any effort to make a PS3 port AND they're offering it for the same price, then whatevs, it's still "PlayStation" exclusive.

I'm slightly jealous. My web store has it, but I can't acquire it. US store.

SO now we're complaining that a game that might have been Vita exclusive is now on another platform developed by the same company as well?

Nothing surprises me in here.

On another note - finally downloaded Gravity Rush, Save the Pilgrims and Shuttle Quest. Diving in.

Disgaea 3 for 18 bucks, yay or nay?
Never played any Disgaea game, it looks like a SRPG. Is it good? A few of my All-Time classics are the old XCOM (UFO) and the Jagged Alliance franchise (not the new one..only SIR-TECH stuff). The only japanese SRPG I played was Jeanne d'Arc, which I quite liked.

No. It's disappointing to lose another exclusive. That's it. No problem. No issue. No rage. No complaints.

Personal bleh for me, but I know everyone totally loves it.

If you aren't srpg freak i'd stay away.

Mystic Chronicles got added to the Vita Store last night but you wouldn't know it. SCEA didn't add it to the New Releases section. You can only find that game if you go through the PSP section or use search.

did they keep the same bad translation the original had?

If you enjoy the battle system, you can easily get 100+ hours out of the game. The story is pretty stupid, but that can be in a good way or a bad way depending on your sense of humor.

Where Persona 4 is a little silly with its story elements, its overall story is interesting and can keep you moving through. Disgaea 3's story is not really the same way. It's just complete silliness that you will at no point take seriously.

Eh, I think my list says otherwise. I'd say the Vita is ahead in terms of both released and upcoming indies. And it's my impression that a lot of the Wii U indie announcements are for things won't come out in a good while. Things can happen during that time... Remember when Cloudberry Kingdom was PC and Wii U only?

Thanks for the info, guys. I'll pass, I like SRPGs, but I don't devour them.

Ooh, nice first post about doing dlc right. Soul Sacrifice's DLC is top notch - even the re-skins have enough variety to keep things fresh. Plus with each boss comes a new magic to farm :) Love it!

So who is gonna try Die!Die!Die!, Floating Cloud God saves the Pilgrims in HD! and Ms. Germinator?

So many surprise releases but non of the indies I have been craving for months.

I've picked up Floating Cloud God because it looks so so damn nice. Only played a couple of levels so I can't comment too much other than to say it's only OK so far.

Floating god was the prettiest minis game ever, but I think that dual sticks will make the game much more easy.

Even though, day 1 in the US store. Gotta support more shtmup.

Just to make myself clear - Disgaea 3 is good game - but like with all parodies you need to understand what it is making fun of and to get the jokes about cliches you need to know those cliches.

Only reason I'm didn't get Dragon's Crown day 1 was because I need to finish P4G and I still have a ton of content to go through on Soul Sacrifice. I haven't even done any of the dlc that's been released for it.

i'm surprised how few vita impressions are here of VC - i'm guessing people have been posting in the OT, with just a few popping to say "its awesome!" and then leave.

also - any idea how to get a patch for a game, when the little orange button isnt on the live area? i dont know if my SH:BoM has the most recent patch or not.
