Hey, did you know PersonaGAF has a podcast called S.Link FM? If not, you do know, and for the 12th Episode, we spoke to voice actress Karen Strassman.

It's a landmark day for S.Link FM, after a tremendous amount of hype we were able to sit down and have a wonderful discussion with voice actress Karen Strassman. Karen has been among the most requested guests listeners have suggested to join us on the podcast. Obviously Karen voiced several characters in the Persona series from Aigis-the robot that longed to be human in Persona 3, to everyone's favorite little cousin Nanako Dojima in Persona 4.(Several others too!)

Karen gave us plenty insight on how she steps into a role, not only in how she sets a character's timbre, but also in how to have the correct mannerisms that fit said character. We also got a live demonstration of such, it was way too awesome!

It was such an honor to have Karen on, and this is easily among our best episodes-or if not, THE best episode we've done thus far.

The show generally assumes you've played the games, so there are spoilers, yes. There's usually a pretty casual warning before the first one, but I'd recommend you just wait if you have yet to play/finish the games. We appreciate the interest though!

I've always been wondering how voice actors approach their roles in games. Like is it just another job to them about some goofy videogame, or do they immerse themselves in their roles and take in and respect the game and its material, and I think I have my answer.

It's pretty amazing. Voice actors definitely get where the writing and characters can go in games and (at least the actors we've talked to) totally respect it and approach it with the same passion as anything else. They all deal with kid stuff, so they recognize most narrative driven games aren't that at all.

God, Karen was just wonderful. I loved how knowledgeable and enthusiastic she was. That enthusiasm in particular, oh man. Did anyone else feel her enthusiasm and passion as she described the characters she voiced? That was a fantastic podcast, definitely one of the greats, hands down.
