3DS Streetpass Experiences

Wow, Brum has a load of spots. At least, compared to my town's 8. May have to pop over...

I can't believe how few streetpasses I get. Spent most of Sunday wandering around a crowded city centre, walked past 3 separate McDonalds, a shit-ton of coffee shops and 4 or 5 games shops.

I got one Streetpass. One. I actually get more hits on Near for the Vita. I'll never finish any of the standard games at this rate :(

Mind you, the missus is a teacher so I'm thinking of slipping my 3DS in her bag when she's back at work. That might help a little.

I got a load this week while I was in paris. I got served by a guy called Quientin and thought he seemed like the kind of cool guy that would have a 3DS, I got back and his mii popped up.

Now I'm back in my tiny town with a population of 1 3DS owner and the nearest hub for streetpasses is miles away...

In Settings (scroll all the way to the left of the Plaza main menu) there's an 'Other Options' setting where you can erase your progress from each game.
You'll start right back at the beginning though any Plaza Tickets you've earned will still be unlocked.

is there any penalty to losing a battle in Warrior's Way?

I think posting on a forum is a surefire way to overcome a difficult spot. I just cleared the Lv5 boss for the Mystery Manor (lol)

does anyone have any tips to play the Manor properly? I've been just squeezing whatever pieces I get...

Just the soldiers you lose each time. I think it's 10% of your total...?
Nobody else you pass gets to see your win record or anything like that.

I'm not sure I'm playing Manor properly either tbh, I'm on floor 15 but have had hardly any battles, team-ups or puzzle boxes. I got an A rank weapon pretty early on (charge shots can do 100+ damage) so have just been cruising through.
It's almost kinda boring actually. It's seems like there's a game there with some sort of depth (weapon type strength and weaknesses, block strategies) but I feel like I'm just skipping over the top of the whole thing.

I think I'll be on Team Pure for this StreetPass spoofing thing. I kinda feel like it might take the joy out of it. I was out around Glasgow for about two hours the other day and got around 16 StreetPasses, which is plenty. Maybe too many. I still like the personal aspect of StreetPass, and the chance you might pass the same person again and form wee rivalries in certain games' score challenges or whatever. Plus if all my puzzles were done and other games complete then there'd be no anticipation in seeing that green light glow.

Still enjoying the purchased games. Going through squad occasionally if I have a few Passes, getting the gems and score medals but usually I just skip it since it takes the most time to play. The unlocked mode is a good bonus for completing it.

Garden is good even with the constant reminders from Mendell. It's started opening up more now and there's a lot to do.

StreetPass Battle is one I enjoyed quite a bit before but now it all feels a bit pointless. I've got an army of around 2million troops and for the most part it's now just a grind until I have the last of the Plaza Tickets. It's probably the easiest game to get all of the tickets in at least.

Mansion I enjoy. I've levelled up one flame weapon to be quite powerful but now I've reached floor 11 (having completely filled every floor on the way) I'm concerned that I don't have many other types of decent strength though, in case enemies impervious to fire are coming. Got a bit of a fright on the most recent boss, having felt quite invincible prior to reaching him I was just casually charging my attack only to be immobolised by his, unable to move and charge lost. He didn't do a huge amount of damage but I'm quite happy the game decided to keep me on my toes.
.

If I was getting those sort of numbers, I'd definitely be on Team Pure. Sadly, though, my average daily walk gives me 0, so it's Team Spoof for me. Though I won't keep changing, I'll just spoof one address and leave it at that.

I should have heeded my own advice in Mansion. I'm on floor 8 with no stairs found and like 10 empty squares in the floor...most of them in the middle of 3x3 (or larger) grids (so would not like to lose chest potential to find those stairs). Also I need to spread my weapon EXP out a bit more (do damage with strong weapon, switch to weaker one and it gets all the EXP) though in principle there is nothing wrong with using one weapon it just means you can not take advantage of weaknesses.

Gardening now revealed the ??? option to me. Maybe this will help me in the quest guild on that (0 quests finished...as I want to ace them).

I remember reading on a Japanese Wiki a trick which was something about hitting the home button if a battle is going bad and quitting the software. I think it rants at you when you start up again and if you pull the same trick off you'll lose more than the 10% you would have lost. I can not recall what you needed to do to reset that (I think it was doing nothing but it might have been buying troops and doing nothing).

I only linked my Club Nintendo account to my brother's 3DS after I bought the Streetplaza games for him... will there be any issue?
They are DLC so I don't think there are any surveys (at least I hope not as I bought mine from the South African eShop to save 9p...). If they were ordinary channels though, you would not get them in your Club Nintendo account so not get points and surveys for them.

If you're there on Wednesday I might pass you for reals.

#teampure

There's a good 25 relays if you walk between New Street and Snow Hill via the Bull Ring.

Another good day in Glasgow with 7 over lunch, woo. Buchanan Galleries seems quite a high yield area.

I finally succumbed to Animal Crossing at the weekend having got it free in that promo a few months ago and not really getting into it in the few hours I'd put in previously. It kind of blows my mind just how much StreetPass adds to a game like that and how exactly it transmits that much information in so brief a time without me even being aware of it. AC and Fire Emblem which I played through over the last few weeks are the first retail games I've played to make great use of the feature, coin rush records and Mario Kart ghosts are pretty cool but being able to recruit people I bumped into on the train for my FE campaign and being able to root about folks' houses and order stuff from them in AC is totally sweet and a real incentive to carry the thing around with me at all times.

Probably this is the best place to ask...

Any tips to beat the last battle in Warrior's Way??...

it's just luck?, or there's some strategy involved?, I have tried like... 15 times and I always lose.
and it doesn't matter how big my army is, his army is always 8 times bigger (i did the math, lol)

Try to make hollow shapes of a color so that you can then place a peice in the middle- the more squares you make at once will determine if you get better-quality chests.

also you can check a person's pieces then change floors to use it if you wish. Dump unwanted peices on other floors.

His army size is supposed to lock as of the first invasion attempt. For me he locked at 570k and I waited to build an army up to about 400k to take him on. As for fighting him, it seems totally random to me. You just have to get lucky.

If a floor can not fit their piece on it, the option to dismiss that person shows up. Which is a good (but slightly wasteful) way of getting rid of undesired shapes.

It also makes me feel I would be better off with Puzzle swap when I end up dismissing a load of recruits (both are throwing play coins away at a chance of progress but the puzzle pieces might help someone at least...).

Got 3 streetpasses yesterday. One at Gamestop via their demo station, and two other via relay station of a McDonalds and Best Buy. Got another pink piece.

I still haven't gotten any relays to work :{

I'm in your shoes.

I don't actually walk past the relays, though. I drive by them, hoping they ping my system a Mii. I have amended my route and swing by a Gamestop and walk through Target (2 gamer employees work there + demo unit); the rest is a hope for the best.

Floor 16 of Monster Manor cleared. YAY! There is a nice spot at the bottom for a 5x3 room (I was lucky to find the stairs early).
I've got 39 different weapons now. Only missing one, but still no S rank gun.

Just hit the power button. I haven't lost any soldier by default yet (although I haven't lost a battle after hitting the power button and playing Warrior's Way again).

Keep in mind, that unlike normal streetpasses, these take up to a minute or 2 to actually complete (in my experience so far). So actually walking by, or worse driving by, without actually stopping to go in or near enough won't work.

So next time you are near one and hoping to get a streetpass. Make sure you stop and go in.

Btw: I don't think any Gamestop has a Nintendo Zone. (at least mine doesn't). Only mentioning this as I think a few keep thinking Gamestop is a Nintendo Zone place. Just wanted to make it clear.

I know Gamestop isn't a NZ location, but it does have a level 7 Mii I collect ^_^

I'm actually kinda surprised that Gamestop isn't a Nintendo Zone, as how often they do special download events for Pokemon with them.

Last time I was at a Best Buy, I actually opened my 3DS and tried connecting to NintendoZone to make sure it was working right. It was, seemingly.

Closed the lid and went about my business in the store, which took like 5 minutes or so... still nothing. So disappointing! Not sure what to do, but hopefully it'll start working soon...

Ive been to 3 McDs and no streetpasses so far. I know its connecting to Nintendo Zone when I open my 3DS up. I guess if people with 3DSes did pass by they haven't updated their hardware yet.

There's nothing sadder than trying to play some of the new games after collecting just one pass.

I do spend my coins on extra cats for Mansion, though.

Normal streetpasses can also take a while (and sometimes are skipped completely between consoles next to each other). It can be kinda buggy, although not that often, thankfully.

Where do you go to check this? I took my 3DS to work with me for the first time in ages (work in central London) and got 4 hits...though not sure if I passed any relay centres. Would like to check the spots nearby.

After a weekend of walking around Boston with my 3DS to test out the relays, some thoughts:

- If you're not actually going to Starbucks, McDonalds, etc., at least stop in/near the shop for a minute or two, especially if your 3DS is packed away and you can't check it; Nintendo's FAQ also recommends this. Even though I'd have to imagine that the range of an actual hotspot is greater than that of another 3DS, I still don't think it's always an instantaneous exchange, so your results may vary if you walk/run/drive by! I'm sure there are numerous factors that can contribute to this, like network traffic and such. This isn't a new discovery by any means, I'm just further recommending it based on my experiences!

- The official Nintendo Zone locator tool is painfully outdated. In my area, it still lists a Best Buy that closed about a year and a half ago, and doesn't include at least one Starbucks that opened around that time. The shops don't need to necessarily be on that list anyway; any place that uses the attwifi SSID should work. So, with that in mind, I'd suggest using AT&T's hotspot locator instead:

www.att.com/maps/wireless-coverage.html

It's much, MUCH better than Nintendo's. The map refreshes as you shift/zoom, it shows more than five locations at once, you can filter the results by retailer, and it's actually up-to-date. The only downside is that it's a Bing map, but the street addresses are easily copy/paste-able if you wanted to add them to a custom Google map or places list (which I'm gonna do since I'm horribly neurotic).

- AT&T also has an app called Mark the Spot that lists all of their hotspots in your current location, but it kind of sucks. Still, it's probably the fastest/easiest way to determine if there are any relay points near you if you're out and about.

I already walk 5-10 miles around the city every weekend doing errands and stuff, and now I'll likely max out on tags most of the time, instead of just getting a couple like before. Sweet.

So in Canada, one of the Nintendo Zone partners is Bell, who supplies McDonald's with their free Wi-Fi according to their website. But they also supply Tim Horton's, Chapters and Indigo with free Wi-Fi . Has anyone tried connecting to Nintendo Zone at these stores, or does it only work at McDonald's in Canada?

That option hasn't showed up for me yet.
Try it on a full floor. Hit take piece, A massage will pop up about how the pieces can not fit and better luck next time. The take piece command has now changed to dismiss. If you want to actually use the piece send that person to the back of the queue.

_The Cloud are another UK provider: http://www.hotspotfinder.thecloud.net/consumer

All the lists are dated to some extent (Nintendo moreso than others). There might also be different reasons for hotspots not working such as too close to each other so you only connect to one...though I guess if they were like this:
x(A)(B)y
If you want A approach from x. If you want B approach from y.

It's a shame that it seems like not every outlet of a specific store has a relay.

I thought the Nintendo Zone map must have been out of date, but the Nero, Subway and Greggs close to me don't work.

I don't think the Greggs has wifi, but I'm not sure what the others are up to.

Thanks. I had no idea, this will come in handy.

It's hard to find a spot near here that doesn't have "_The Cloud" showing as an option when I search for wifi with my phone. I assume that's an issue if they're close together as the 3DS will connect to one for a StreetPass then won't switch to another with the same name if you're still within range of the first. So much strategy involved in this.

I need ten today because I have the last level of Mii Squad to do later. I've really enjoyed it overall and it's so much game for £4.49 but man is it stressful on the later levels when I've been at work all day and just want to relax.

Either the relay points are starting to get used where I am or I just got lucky because I got 6 streetpasses today and pretty much at least one hit for all of my streetpass enabled games.

On that note, is there a way to cheat in Streetpass Battle because this seems messed up.

Play coin farming by manipulating system time - or that person just had a ton of play coins they blew all at once. It doesn't take a whole lot of play coins to max out your army after progressing through the game once.

EDIT: On second thought, no, the math doesn't work out even if you had 300 coins built up. Has to be some level of farming going on there.

i have around 1400 streetpasses now, japan is crazy with the 3ds
i finished all my puzzles like 200 passes ago, which is insane, i wish there were more puzzles, im guessing japan has way more puzzles then NA puzzles, what a waste of street passes

on another note, im almost done the entire region of japan, im like missing 5 regions, i dont know if i can complete japan though, only like 6 days left here

You bought the other StreetPass games before your trip right?

There's only three exclusive Japanese puzzles right now that I'm aware of: the Big Mac and Nippon Airlines puzzles you had to get via Wi-Fi, and the new Chibi Robo puzzle. Prior to the Mii Plaza revamp you could see these puzzles but not take pieces from them; now they just don't show up at all.

Managed to get all the puzzles and get my awesome blooper hat that I've always wanted after going to this past weekends convention, Otakon. Sure did take a while to get all the puzzles cuz I was missing like 6 panels.

Also, I don't think you could get an army that size too quickly from just play coin farming. You still get under 20,000 most of the time for 15 coins. You do get more and more for each battle you win though; I'm getting between 100,000/200,000 troops for victories now on the third run through. Plus spending 5 coins for more troops lets you attack the next country right away. Once you're able to spy twice it's pretty easy. You also unlock syping three and then unlimited times. Unless I'm missing something, surely spying again after two turns have been played is pointless? I guess maybe they later up the difficulty by letting the opponent play a choice more than once?

The spy counter is per session, not per battle. It is possible to have 11 battles in a session (10 monarchs from afar plus normal progression); the number of times you can spy is not replenished after each one.

Im right before the final battle on my second playthrough of Mii Battle or w/e its called. I have around 750,000 troops. I think Im going to wait until I cross that 1,000,000 barrier before continuing because, if I lose to the final dude, my total army size will drop substantially and I dont want that. It would take me way too long to rebuild that army.

Not sure if I'm understanding right, but you triggered him to fix his army count right? If you never even look at his army count, it'll just fix at a multiple of whatever army count you have when you do go look.
