Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Sorry to bother you all with a P4G question but

In Nanako's dungeon, is this the one that I shouldn't clear out until the last day? (The last day being November 30?)

None of the dungeons need to be delayed as far as I was aware. I finished that one as soon as it came up.

Important decision making regarding the ending comes after.

So is it like Ninja Gaiden 2 xbox slowdown and not dropping frames?

I get a tiny few framedrops (like 1 or 2, Its not stopmotion film.) but nothing major. The slowdown is notable enough to be mention but it doesn't ever really interfere with the game. Im really enjoying it.

Maybe new updates might even smooth the issue out more

Wonder what that means. :/ I don't know why Adam Boyes would want a big publisher NOT to come to Vita, so I can only assume Disney wanted Sony to partially fund the Vita version or something.

I wanted to get SS but can't justify it since I only have a 4GB card and don't plan on buying a new card until after Gamescom. If it was retail at that price I'd bite though.

SCEA celebrates Japanese developers by not bothering to check that the games they picked were actually made by Japanese developers.

Bravo, SCEA, we love you.

Wow calm the fuck down. It's a game on sale, who gives a shit if it's made by a Japanese developer or not. It is a Japanese IP.

Why do people want to play games like Skylanders or Disney Infinity on a handheld? You're tethered by the scanning devices, seems like an awful fit.

You wouldn't have to be tethered to the scanning devices. You could just scan the character and go into that character's world without having it tethered. Play that until you plug in another one.

Kills me to not have PS+ with the sales going on lately.

Probably going to wait until bigger memory cards come out or we get a price drop to get PS+ and go digital. As much as I'd love to drop $50 or 60 on Vita games on sale the next couple weeks, it would be rough considering my job status for the upcoming school year is still uncertain.

I feel like that would defeat the entire point of the game, being able to swap out and scan things at will. But I also assumed the games themselves were mediocre and people only bought into the figures, I don't really know..

That's how the 3DS works and really the only way it would make sense. You scan two characters and can swap them at any time. (I'm pretty sure that's right, I bought the game for my little brother and I saw him doing that while the portal was up in his room)

Hmm that sounds odd. It probably is the case that Disney wanted Sony to fund it.

Activities under Friend List page is awful !

There is like huge chunk of Soul Sacrifice missions with scores on it. They should separate that, and stuff like this "user has purchased___" ,etc and the comments that someone makes on the activities.

So yesterday I saw someone playing a Vita on the train early in the morning, it made me smile inside. I felt like getting my Vita out and high fiving the guy. Heh.

Here are the games I want from the promotion. The numbers in parenthesis are the promotion prices and ps+ promotion prices.

Ninja Gaiden Sigma 2 Plus (27.99 - 19.59)
Atelier Totori Plus (27.99 - 19.59)
Touch My Katamari (7.49 - 3.75)
Dynasty Warrior Next (17.49 - 8.75)
New Little Kings Story (13.99 - 9.79)

Now, I am not a PS+ member, & honestly I am tempted to join to enjoy the discounts here, but... now that I have calculated a bit, in the end buying all those games after I sign for a 1 year PS+ will cost me more money than if I just buy them outright without a PS+ sub.

Without PS+ sub: 27.99 + 27.99 + 7.49 + 17.49 + 13.99 = 94.95 bucks.
With PS+ sub: 50 (one year) + 19.59 + 19.59 + 3.75 + 8.75 + 9.79 = 111.47 bucks.

So a difference of 16.52 bucks. Hmmmmm. Thoughts? Should I just jump in regardless to PS+ even though I only use it for Vita?

That's the biggest problem with the Vita not getting Monster Hunter: every other publisher sees it as an opportunity to fill the void left by Capcom, so they all flood the platform with their "Monster Hunter killers", instead of doing some actual variety.

End result: more than half of the major Japanese Vita games are shitty MH clones.

Nah, PSP had MH and there was a bunch of clones there. It appears SCEJ is giving incentives to releasing games of that type and because Vita's sales are so poor no one's really investing in other software.

You get 6 Vita games free immediately, I think including WipEout/Uncharted/Gravity Rush.

You also can get a 3 month code and still get the sale prices. Or see if you can buy/find a one month trial code.

I don't know how anyone isn't a PS+ member at this point, honestly, but that's just my opinion. ;)

You'd get a year of free PSP/Vita games. You'd get PS+ prices on sales for an entire year. You'd get cloud saves for a year too. Plus you have a full year to scout around for deals on PS+ to make it even cheaper to keep it.

I'd say go for it if you can afford it and have the memory card space. The discounts on games you would be getting in the next two weeks would almost pay for the PS+ sub anyway.

I already have WipeOut 2048 and Gravity Rush, and to be honest I am not that interested in Golden Abyss.

I hesitate because I practically only use it for Vita, and I am not even sure I will buy a PS4 later on.

Hmm, I am rather tempted to join... but yeah, I am still hesitating somewhat.

How beefy is DOA5+'s story/singleplayer mode? Thinking of picking it up in the sale next week. Usually don't even touch story mode for fighting games but seems like it could be a fun romp at that price since I'm not going to bother with multiplayer on pad.

This is just one sale. Also: Instant game collection.

get on PS+ I'm not too sure if Best Buy still has the $40 promo for one year

I say just get them now and then once a bigger memory card for Vita is available you'll have a big list of games to play on it =)

Thinking about it, it's kind of a pain to release things like Skylanders and Disney Infinity on Vita. Every Vita game has to be released on PSN. How do you do a digital release of a game that requires physical peripherals? Well, I guess they could make an exception and not release it on PSN, or perhaps make the additional toys just straight up DLC for this version.

I can't see SCE publishing a port of either too. They'd have to manufacture Vita specific bases and ensure continued compatibility with future expansions unless they do a "EVERYTHING'S JUST DIGITAL" release, but that would lose a big selling point. SCE typically does three game deals, so if that's the length of the agreement SCEE signed with Disney it should now be up (Cars 2, Phineas & Ferb: Across the Second Dimension, and Epic Mickey 2). If they go further I guess they'd port the Planes video game, or the new Phineas & Ferb, as neither game is even on PlayStation hardware.

It's kind of a shame too since the 3DS version of each game isn't a direct port of the console game, but something completely different.

I'd say you are doing it wrong if you have Vita without PSN+ ;)
Just think about it - a year costs 60$ so you are spending 5$ monthly - so if you get one indie game each two months that you like you made the costs back.
And you get lot more :)

It's not like you have to buy PS4 but if you decide to buy it later you will have nice collection of games waiting for you there.

I'm not too familiar with fighting game storymodes so I can't compare but I'm going through the story mode currently and it's not too bad.

You start off with one character's story and then it leads on to others as you unlock them and go through the rounds.

Everyone who still doesn't have it better buy Sound Shapes while it's still on sale. I put the game down ever since finishing the albums last year but just reinstalled it last night and bought the DLC.

I was really bad at platformers when I first got the game but I'm slightly better now so I appreciate the game a lot more. And apparently, Beat School is a lot of fun.

I just pretend that Death Mode doesn't exist.

So yesterday I saw someone playing a Vita on the train early in the morning, it made me smile inside. I felt like getting my Vita out and high fiving the guy. Heh.

I've felt exactly like that the few times I've seen someone playing a Vita on my commute too! Reminds me of the good old days when another PSP user commuted on my train and we could amuse the other passengers by sitting next to one another playing button bashers.

You're a dick. Me too.

Mine is exactly the same, right down to the exclamation point :)

If we ever streetpass, it'll be surreal.

Vitabrofist!

The idea came to me when I first Streetpassed one of the Nintendo Execs.

I want Streetpass on my Vita sigh along with Sackboy as the Mii-equivalent.

Anyone here playing Dragon's Crown with each other?

I hope I am not too late since I only plan on downloading this tonight.

Speaking of, does this game allow local co-op play...?

When I explained to my friends what I was doing with my Streetpasses, they, in unison, went:

"You're such an ass"

I sat there giggling whilst I set it up, and then giggled at the fact I was giggling. The missus asked what had tickled me and when I told her she just said "you're such a fucking loser". That made me giggle even harder.

You can't beat a little childish indulgence here 'n' there.

(The similarities in our last couple of posts are making me wonder if we're in fact the same person).

You should've made a your mum joke at that point.

Also, if anyone from Australia is viewing this post and interested in a Vita (especially if you're in Perth!), I am selling my second Vita for $150. PM me for more details.

Vignocchi and Boyes are longtime friends - they were roommates when they worked at Midway. Presumably Boyes pushed for a Vita version, but Disney's beancounters shot it down.

There's a player list in the Dragon's Crown thread. You could check the for Vita players.

And yes, there's adhoc mode for it as well. You just gotta unlock it around level 17 or so (mission completion dependant)
