Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Well, there's never been a handheld Punch-Out...

I would find it very stupid if they decide to exclude an entire franchise (stage-wise) in a specific version. I hope they aren't pulling this. Honestly, I'm under the impression that the 3DS version is just more geared towards handheld history rather than excluding anything from console titles.

I guess we'll wait and see...

Have we seen any 3DS stages from a console only game?

I'm aware of that, but I was so sure that we would get representative's stage on both system if they don't have any game on handheld system or console system.

Well, we don't know if Little Mac would be in the game tho. If Isaac get in, then I have to worry about Golden Sun stage being exclusive to 3DS.

Maybe Sakurai could design a stage based on Skyward Sword's Lanaryu mining facility with time shift stones that you could hit to alter the stage. Another idea is a stage based on the Forbidden Grounds, where you know who will occasionally appear out of the seal and hurt the players on the stage.

I'd rather go the rest of my life without seeing that Muppet again :[

So far we've seen:

Gerudo Valley (Ocarina of Time 3D)
Spirit Train (Spirit Tracks)
Wrath of the Reset Bomb (Kid Icarus: Uprising)
Super Mario Mario 3D Land Super Incredible Not New Super Mario Bros 2 Scrolling Stage
Arena that looks suspiciously like Feroxi Arena (Fire Emblem Awakening)
Battlefield (Smash Series)
Nintendogs Playroom (Nintendogs & Cats)
Mysterious Underground Jungle Temple (???)

Aside from that last one which might not even be a standard level, everything's been from a handheld game. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if we didn't get levels for Pikmin or Punch-Out on the 3DS if it meant we got levels based on more handheld games without fighter representatives like Nintendogs or Tetris.

edit: Also considering that the Animal Crossing stage on Wii U lacks any representation from New Leaf even though they featured elements from it in the trailer makes it seem like they want to distinguish it that way.

I'm aware of that, but I was so sure that we would get representative's stage on both system if they don't have any game on handheld system or console system.

Considering there's a history of characters without stage representation or stages without affiliated characters, I'm not sure why you would come to that conclusion. Hell, there's a Pilotwings stage.

I wonder why they elected to show so many Zelda stages all at once. We have not yet seen a Pokemon or Metroid stage but right in the initial reveal they showed two 3DS Zelda stages and one Wii U Zelda stage.

I probably shouldn't read anything into it.

EDIT: I think I've mentioned it before in the previous topic, but I am not a fan of how they have chosen to split the stages up like they have. Smash Bros. should be a celebration and catalog of everything Nintendo. The way the stages are split up makes each feel like an incomplete half. I feel they really should stand on their own as complete Smash Bros. titles like the first three, not a needless split showcasing only one side of the coin each like they have.

Its from DKCR 3D.

I hope Melee's Hyrule Temple returns. One of my favorite stages for sure.

I'd also like the return of Mushroom Kingdom II and Saffron City, but that's me.

hyrule temple is a fan favorite, its sure to make it in, but with that said, theres literally no difference between the stage in either melee or brawl cept brawl's might be slightly better in textures and such

Eh, I'd like to see Toon Link be replaced with the Young Link from Majora's Mask.

He'd switch between the three mask forms like Zelda/Sheik and Pokemon Trainer do and his Final Smash is turning into Fierce Diety Link for a short time and cause some damage.

There could also be the Clock Town stage where you fight on top of the Clock tower as the day goes buy on the final day of the 3 day countdown and the clock shifts to get ready for the Festival of Time.

SSB needs to show more Majora's Mask love besides the Great Bay stage and a few trophies.

While everyone's gone on about them nailing the look of Classic Mega Man - and they absolutely have - I don't think there's been enough appreciation for how fantastic Rush looks.

I wonder if we'll see Eddie or Beat.

I think Eddie would make a great Assist Trophy. He'd hand out a bunch of items!

I'm fully aware of Smashville being in Brawl without any representation and Marth and Roy being in Melee without their stages. Also I'm aware of Pilotwings stage, but are you pretty sure it's Pilotwings stage. The island could be cameo in other game's stage so we can't be sure until we know what it is.

I hope Bass(or Forte) and Treble come as an assist trophy.

Proto Man, Dr. Light or Roll, I betacha.

Which conclusion, I had few conclusions in my statement?

Proto Man, Dr. Light or Roll, I betacha.
Probably Roll and her broom like in Tatsunoko. It would be like Piplup.

Proto Man would make the most sense. Comes in, plays his little whistle, then jumps around and shoots as he does and then leaves.

Really simple and his whistle is well known and fan pleasing.

I think the ring is SSB stage, not a punch out stage. It wouldn't have a SSB logo on it if it was meant for a particular franchise.

Well, I think it could be Punch Out stage or Super Smash Bros Dojo stage. At same time, someone posted a good argument.

Punch-Out Ring Stage
Whenever I would post tidbits about this, I got a couple of requests to make this its own thread, so I decided to go ahead go through with it.

So, the boxing ring stage. You've seen it, I'm sure. Some people aren't exactly sure if it's a Punch Out related stage, if it's a Kirby themed stage, or just a generic new boxing ring stage just for kicks. Well, I'm gonna tell you that this stage is a Punch Out themed stage for a multitude of reasons. So let's begin I guess...

First off, the audience is human, so you can rule out any possibility that this is a Kirby themed stage (all Kirby boxing rings have Kirby characters instead). The marquee's in the background are all dot styled, which is consistent with the marquees in Punch Out Wii, and even the title screen and round indicators for Mike Tyson's Punch Out.

Various dot styled marquee screens: http://i.imgur.com/sgmo0ru.png

All logos in Punch Out Wii are adorned with clusters of stars, which are usually in 3's because triple star punches are the most powerful punch in the game, as well as the "leaf vines" on the sides (forgive me; I don't know the term for this) and a giant star somewhere in the middle. The logo in the ring, while being smash themed, shares all of these characteristics.

The ring ropes are also identical in both color and configuration as the Major Circuit ring in Punch Out Wii. Similarly, the corners are all identical colors and positions as the Punch Out Wii corners. The logo in Smash also features a ribbon at the top, which is a direct throwback to the World Circuit ribbon at the top and bottom of the logo.

Also, as a random tidbit, the ribbon in the Smash Punch Out stage says "CHAMPIONSHIP" on it, which is probably because if it straight up said "Major Circuit" on it, it would be flat out obvious. Plus since Smash Bros doesn't have "circuits", championship makes more sense in the context of the game.

The final fight in Punch Out Wii, Mr. Sandman, has a very particular entrance for both his Title Defense and Contender fights. He approaches the ring while there's a green laser light show that goes on behind him. Well, check this out...

Same green laser show.

But yeah, there are an abundance of intentional details that suggest this stage is designed to be a Punch Out stage. There may be a few details that I'm missing, but those were all the details I seemed to notice. Unsure if this confirms Mac being a character, but at the very least there's a stage from the Punch Out series in the game.

But in this instance the logo on the mat reflects the tournament. It is appropriate that the Smash logo is used for it is a Smash tournament.

Its from DKCR 3D.

It doesn't look anything like the temples in DKCR. It could be, but what we've seen so far is inconclusive.

And R.O.B. and Hanenbow and Pictochat and...

Looks to be a stage from a offline mode judging by Mario's mega leap to the sky.

It doesn't look like a DKCR3D stage and i'm recently playing that so I would of noticed.
