I want it to be different, but a logical evolution from what we have in 3/4. I find that the series really found its stride then, before (1/2) being just a third-person, isometric megaten. Altus is in a nice spot with all of the spin-offs having drastically different game elements--persona the adv/rpg, Raidou the arpg, Devil survivor the rts--while all still sharing that core megaten vibe.

I think that they might want to not alienate the massive fanbase they amassed from P3/4, but I'd really like to return to something a bit darker in it's thematics/story,

I've been running on empty anticipating Persona 5 for so long now that I even started salivating at Mind Zero when it was first shown (and before the ughhhhhh first person crawler gameplay shittacular reveal) like a starved and deranged hound.
Surely when the SUDDENLY 10 PAGE FAMITSU REVEAL comes, the game in Japan at least is going to be like January 2014 or something.

My guess is reveal anytime now, winter/spring 2014 for Japan, summer for the US.
I think the PS3 is pretty damn likely. I would say PS3/Vita like a lot of others are doing, but Atlus loves that FES/Golden money, so.
I do and don't want that. P3 was a lot closer to 1/2 in that regard, and I dug it, but the light-heartedness of P4 was addicting.

They won't do a new set demon models just for Persona 5... but I guess they can just recycle the current set for the PS3.
Tails cost me so many rings in those tunnel stages, horrible.

You should flip that 3DS and Wiiu around because it makes it seem like wiiu is more likely than 3DS.

Probably because P4 used the same engine as P3, and was on the same console as well. The only differences in P4 was really design/UI, but besides that there wasn't really a difference in the game engine.

I love 3DS but I think I might get as miffed as the SMT IV hate crew if this were to become a 3DS game, lol.

HD jump I imagine. Other projects taking priority.
Hopefully Persona 6 will be a short 2 year wait. But that's a pointless discussion right now

atlus has to create new demon models at some point. they could have worked on the ps3 tech models and shift them to next gen when the time is right. they can't reuse the same old models forever.

Persona 5, 6 and 7 for the Vita, confirmed.
Well the Persona team was the one behind Catherine right, which ate up a few years. Part of the reason for Catherine's existence was to gain experience with the Gamebryo engine for HD development.
Then in a later interview, I believe they said they dropped Gamebryo and were working on an engine of their own. I'd imagine that would eat up more time, especially if they have to make new demon models and animations.
Unless recent information has come to light about what they've been up to, this should be accurate.

Persona 5 will go back to Persona 1/2 style sprites. Persona 3 Portable style navigation, and will be a 3DS exclusive.
Lot's of time travel, so much that by the end of the game you will feel more confused than you have ever been in your life.
