Atlus teases new announcements this year, lots more next year

Is it the community thread where we can speculate on possible content and design for the Persona games? As has been said, it has been 5 years, and I'm curious as to how, or even if, the series will advance any. There were elements in Catherine that I hope carry over to the main Persona game, while being even more expansively 3D. And while I do like the Press Turn combat system, I would love for them to find a way to introduce less predictability into it - but I'm not sure how you can innovate on the combat without turning it into something other than a Shin Megami game.

Persona 3
DS
to tie in with the movie please. Also I don't think I could take any tease for Persona 5 because over in PAL land we probably won't get it until for an extra year anyway.

Well the Persona team was the one behind Catherine right, which ate up a few years. Part of the reason for Catherine's existence was to gain experience with the Gamebryo engine for HD development.

Then in a later interview, I believe they said they dropped Gamebryo and were working on an engine of their own. I'd imagine that would eat up more time, especially if they have to make new demon models and animations.

Unless recent information has come to light about what they've been up to, this should be accurate.

I completely forgot that they were working on their own engine for this.

...Why do I feel like them using it is no longer the case, though.

I can barely take this stupid self induced hype I've got myself in for Persona 5, I don't know if I can take ACTUAL hype for it. I'm definitely ready to move past the guessing game phase.

You should flip that 3DS and Wiiu around because it makes it seem like wiiu is more likely than 3DS.

Heh, true. Although I think neither have much of a chance.

Looking forward to P5, but I hope they have some exciting non-P5 announcements as well. But whatever they are, they can't be as bad as Capcom's mobile blowout.

...Why do I feel like this is no longer the case, though.

Because things can change over the course of development and the game could exist in a different form, especially since they've been so quiet. :P

I do want this to be on HD platforms, and those interviews point to them, but I share your sentiment.

I just want to know.

Persona 5: Rise of the Yandere?

Having an S link that could game over you if you choose the wrong stuff would be both the most amazing thing and the worst thing ever.

Thinking about it, having Slinks you 'Don't' want to get involved with would be a gamechanger. introduce some form of risk/reward. my goodness, the hype.

I just want to know.

me too, friend. Me too.

Well it depends on which scenario you think is most likely:

Did Atlus switch away from Gamebyro after gaining experience just because they wanted their own engine anyway?

Did Atlus switch because Gamebyro was proving problematic for a japanese developer to work on?

Or did Atlus switch because it was decided that Persona 5 would be a platform that doesn't support Gamebyro?

Multiple announcement for 2014, eh? Okay, here are some unsourced predictions:

--A date for SMT x FE, probably summer.
--Persona 5 for PS360 releasing no sooner than Fall 2014, maybe with a Wii U port later.
--Devil Survivor 3. Tits will continue to defy gravity.
--Anniversary celebration compilation: SMT 1, 2 and Nocturne Maniax Chronicles with minimal (perhaps no) improvements.
--SMT4 updated re-release/Maniax edition. Will include all DLC and also contain one of two bonus scenarios. Either King Aquila founding Mikado or
the alignment trio from "25 years ago"
. May or may not be part of the above collection.

Sell-my-firstborn-child-it-would-be-so-cool: Full 3D remakes of SMT1 and 2.

I'd like to see a remake of SMT 1 reusing SMT 4's engine and assets. It shouldn't take many resources considering how they'd have a bunch of modern Tokyo assets from SMT 4, and SMT 1 really could use a gameplay revamp. SMT 2 would need more original material though.

Persona 5 hype thread? Oh yeeeeah. Seriously I'll be happy with anything they announce, it's good to hear everything is still full steam ahead in development.
