Atlus teases new announcements this year, lots more next year

Persona 3-DS

They did technically list that as a game in development for 3DS early on. I wouldn't say no to a Persona 3 on 3DS. lol (or any Persona really)

This. We're due for it because of that listing, all of Atlus' games on that list happened except Persona, it's time Atlus! Persona 3 would suffice. :)

Looking forward to their announcements. I wonder how many of them will be 3DS projects, as they've really been doing well on that system.

I doubt it'll ever get made, but a remake of Shin Megami Tensei I+II on the IV engine would be so great.

Oh right, the Devil Survivor Remake is also on slate for 2013 for JP. For US however, Etrian Odyssey is the only game from Atlus that is yet to be released in 2013. I might be wrong so you can correct me. I haven't caught up with the latest Atlus news just yet. :)

SMTxFE is the collaboration with Nintendo, correct? I think it will not come out in March as we haven't seen what kind of RPG they are doing with it and it's just been announced this year. P5 has been in development for a long time so it's most likely to come out before Fall (maybe not in March as I have initially said so :P).

Even if EOU is the only Atlus game with a release date, since DeSuBR is about to come out in Japan it's probably close enough to done for Atlus USA to start working on it.

As for SMT x FE, we've actually seen more of that than we have P5--which hasn't officially been announced yet.

No. Sega Sammy Holdings is interested in getting Index and so is some random financial firm known as J Trust. We'll know what happens by the end of the month.

One more thing. I've been reading conflicting things. Some are saying that Index is selling off its subsidaries so Atlus is one of them. Others are saying that Index as a whole is for sale. So confusing.

Why does Atlus having games to announce = almost every post being about Persona 5? They don't just make Persona, it's just another sub series in the Shin Megami Tensei franchise.

Sure it's bound to come, but there's so many other possibility, like Raidou which others brought up for example. Something like Catherine as well! I'd like to see Persona 5 as well, bit there's other series with more potential. Heck, I'd welcome a New IP and a New Sub Series in the SMT Franchise.

So yeah, we can use less pages filled with P5.

Okay Atlus, I bought a 3DS, a Vita, and a Wii U. Persona 5 better be for at least one of those systems. I'm not going back to last generation and buy a PS3 just for this game.

I'm expecting PS3, which I don't have. I'll be getting one this year though to catch up on the massive backlog. I guess it also depends on who buys them though. If Nintendo, you'll be fine.

It's their most popular franchise globally, and they teased Persona 5 for some time. This kind of reaction is normal.

I'd like to see a new Raidou game too, though.

But I will say that any SMT related entry that would appear on the PS3 would have a certain issue to deal with... that being the demons. Back during the PS2 SMT game boom, they had SMT3 (Nocturne) as the main entry with the demons made for that game. After that, games borrowed those assets for themselves. Can't really do that on the PS3 without people noticing and complaining about graphics. I do believe they touched up the models in the Raidou games, however. But there making them look good in a late-PS3 game might be more complicated.

If a SMT game comes out on consoles, it'll most likely be using the P5 egine/assets.

Maybe that's the reason why Kaneko wasn't heavily involved in SMT IV: He is doing some massive demon redesign for the next generation SMT game. I hope this is true because I certainly find the demon designed by tokusenka guy severely lacking :/

Guess they could work backwards, yeah. But with SMT4 there probably won't be another mainline entry for years to come.

I hope so because I really feel like Kaneko is a heart of the franchise. Like Akira Toriyama with Dragon Quest.

As much as I enjoy them, they are very obtuse games, even compared to 3 & 4.

All of SMT1's flaws are superficial or really easy to fix. There's no doubt in my mind that Atlus would address everything in their very Atlus way, solving every problem you had and every problem you never thought you had. I think it would lead to the core game being seen as the undisputed classic it really is.

Some of the older art reuse completely show that how aged most of the demon design is :/
While I certain demon could be used one more time, most of the bulk clearly need redesign.

GAF and Japan would implode. Though I'm sure monhun and pokemon would cover most of that there.

Indeed. Consider that Atlus and Nintendo have a working relationship with the SMT / Fire Emblem crossover.
It's very easy for Nintendo to pull a quick moneyhat (like they did with Capcom and MH4) and secure some exclusivity.

And, it's probably quite easy to convince Atlus to develop for the 3DS...it's the most successful platform in Japan at the moment and the retail charts are dominated by 3DS games.

Not to mention that Atlus has LOADS of experience with 3DS development, and recently released their mainline entry in the SMT series on the platform.

I wonder if they'll make an RPG to deal with the ending of P4A cause there's a whole new adventure out there. That could work for Persona 5. Would be awesome to play with both P3 and P4 characters in an average Persona game.

If they continue this pace of a new main entry each decade, we'll be seeing SMT V in 2023!

It will be amazing if they really maximize the use of whatever engine they've built for their next PS3 game. Remember Nocturne on PS2? Then we had 2 Digital Devil Saga games? Then Raidou and Persona 3/4? Atlus may be LTTP to current gen but hopefully they're joining the party with a bang!

I love to see another entry in the Devil Survivor series.

With Devil Surivor Overclcoked out and Devil Surivor 2: Break Code coming out, I hope they are gearing up a third entry in the Devil a survivor series. Don't just port the series to the 3DS if you aren't planning to add a new entry. That would be getti my hopes up lol. I really hope this is one of the announcements.

Honestly, I prefer non sequel route for P5. It can took place in the same universe with some cameo character but with whole different cast and plot.

Persona 5
SMTxFE
ShinEO2
SMT port for 3DS or Vita(probably 3DS given recent history)
I would like to say that a non-port spinoff game would be coming to portables but that may be too much in one year for them.

Because we are waiting 5 freaking years for Persona 5.

At this point it's in Square Enix territory but it will be moving soon to Duke Nukem Forever class development.

Catherine 2 or a new Trauma Center, please.

Don't care for the their JRPGs. Atlus is at best when they stay away from those turn-based sleep inducting grind fests.

Persona 5, for iOS and Android.

Considering devs costs are cheap and that the outcome would be far greater than it would be on the PSV and 3DS, is it wrong that I would rather have Persona 5 on Android considering that Nvidia's Logan will be more powerful than a 360?

Anyone that actually expects Persona 5 for PS4 is batshit insane; even PS3 is unlikely.

We know P5 is a console game and, uh, also Atlus isn't full of morons like Sega, so no, PS3 is not "unlikely" at all.

Also, P5 hasn't been announced while SMT x FE has been. SMT x FE could conceivably come out in March, I doubt P5 will drop before Fall.

I seeeeeeriously doubt they're gonna give us a year leadtime on P5.

I'd be pretty surprised if Persona 3DS didn't happen next year. It makes too much sense.

What... sense does it make, exactly? If they were going to do a handheld spinoff Persona, why wouldn't they do it on Vita?

What SMT IV really had me missing though was more Trauma Team...

;_;
