Chief Thunder revealed (Killer Instinct)

I hated the new Jago's look as he used to be my main character on the older games. Sabrewolf didn't look too hot either...But Thunder looks awesome indeed.

Well, that redesign makes me a little less worried for what they're going to do to Fulgore.

you're in for a world of disappointment, this is what he looked like in KI Gold, so there is no way you can keep a render that looks as ridiculous as this.

Man, with Glacius and now Thunder, Jago looks really fragile, lol.

Isn't this exactly what the "Jago looks too buff now!" people want? He's suppose to appear skinnier and speedier than the others, and that seems to be coming out more, as more designs are revealed.

I'm really glad the designs have some weight and presence to them, that's one thing the successful western 3D fighters always seem to get wrong, but the forgotten ones seem to do better at.

If by "F2P option" you mean "demo" then yes. But I imagine that's not what you had in mind.

Don't know what you're getting at.

It's a F2P fighting game.

Has one character and all modes for that character unlocked in the free version. All modes are available to you.

You pay to unlock more characters you want.

Hence, there IS a F2P option for people as well. If a person is content with Jago, they can keep on continuing to play as Jago for free as long as they want, and can do so even with people who have the retail/full version of the game.

Pricing structure goes like this.

Full Game - Set price, you get everything.
Demo Game - Jago only, all modes playable.
Individual Character Game - Can buy characters individually on top of the demo game if you don't want to play the full roster.

How much this stuff costs will hopefully be available at gamescom.

Yeah I know but it still doesn't remove the fact the game has a standard F2P model as an option

True, it has a F2P model...but that model is an option. You can choose to make it a F2P pricing structure, or just get everything. Usually, in most F2P models tho, the only way to make all content available is if you buy it piece by piece, and the game gives you an option to ignore that.

Anyways, this game is looking better than it did before. Good. Sucks that it's going to b a while before I play it (gonna wait for Xbox One to drop down to $400 before buying it).

I haven't seen any fighting game where the demo allows you to play against people with the full game (if you do know of something like that on consoles, let me know).

It's a free to play game. Not just a demo.

Was this actually confirmed? I was under the assumption that they would release them over "seasons" that you could download as, like, packs. If that makes any sense.

This is just an issue of jargon. Clearly playing KI for free is more like playing the Injustice demo than playing Farmville.

I wonder how they'll handle Kim Wu, since they tried to make Thunder look like an actual indian. Will she look even remotely Korean?

I think it's more like, if 10 characters at launch...you can buy the full game with all 10. But you can also buy them one by one. The full price version will probably be discounted for buying everything.

the big difference is that other normal f2p games, dont have a complete version to purchase at launch.
this has been done only to get new people, that want to try the game, but dont want/cant afford the full price.

people really liked the killer instincs character designs? maybe im the only one who thinks they are horrendous and unoriginal

You aren't. It's a pretty common sentiment.

Anyway, with Glacius and Thunder, the characters designs in this game are starting to get interesting.

It doesn't matter why it's being done. There IS still a F2P option for those who want it. That's the entire point of my posts. You can't refute it. Come up with your own definitions of what is truly a F2P game, but regardless the game does have a F2P model for those that want to treat it as such, whereas other regular fighting games do not offer such an option. That's a fact.

ok, so what's the problem?

I hope they'll simply don't handle her. :D

I don't like Killer Instinct 2' characters, just focus on the first chapter and add a pair of new ones. :)

Jargon. People hear "F2P fighter" and they hear "pay to win". Really this IS a glorified demo - certain options are restricted, you pay once and you have the game. The only difference between "F2P KI" and the VF5FS demo on XBLA is the VF5FS restricts you to offline vs and only 3 or 4 characters.

It will probably be awhile before she makes it into the game.

Hopefully never though, and they just come up with a new female, Kim Wu was awful.

Nothing. Just clearing up misinformation.

fine by me, but comparing this, to games like tekken revolution is wrong. This is f2p done right.

yeah, I asked because i thought he was implying that. For me its not a problem, it's a plus actually. People usually try o downplay the game just because of the f2p aspect.

looks like the weather in his stage gets worse as the fight goes on since we see both dry and rainy scenes. in fact, during the victory pose, there is a full blown tornado visible! possibly due to an ultra?

Pretty much. The term 'F2P' can connotate a degradation in quality, especially with modern mobile gaming. I think most prefer to call it an expanded demo.
