Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I wasent around for the brawl dojo days, so i guess you guys were right when getting new shit shown even if it was lil things was exciting

Sakurai's comment:

Pic of the day. Here's the X Bomb from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Not to be mistaken for the one from Meteos.

Oh, yup! An item and a crazy one at that! Awesome! Is this the first time Smash Bros gets an item from the Kid Icarus series?

you know, since smash reveal, pit was one of the 1st veterans to come back, we get shown that his moveset is upgraded, we get a new map for the 3DS for him, and now a new item from his series.....palutena/viridi reveal around the corner?
I have to admit this week has been pretty exciting interms of screenshots

KIU essentially revived the franchise, so it's really great to see more. Also, Palutena is a given! :D

On the topic of Luigi's final smash, what the fuck was Sakurai thinking with whatever Luigi's FS was supposed to be in Brawl?

It still makes no sense to me to this day.
Luigi's Final Smash was brilliant. I don't care what it was supposed to be, it was amazing.
I enjoyed the icy groping, and in the long run, he still lost.

It is way too early to say how sharp the competitive edge of Smash 4 will be, but I think it is a tad disingenuous to say that Sakurai doesn't care about competitive balance. If anything, he seems to be placing more importance on balance this time around. A lot of people were burned by Brawl, and I understand that, so people may read Sakurai's comments on the subject with more cynical eyes, and I understand that too. But based on what I have read from Sakurai, all signs point to Smash 4 being an improvement over Brawl.
Yeah, once he got to the finals. ;)

I don't believe I've said that Sakurai doesn't care about competitive balance, just that he's not very good at it is all. I agree with what you said, I'm confident it'll be a step up from Brawl. It's just that Brawl was somehow even less balanced than Melee which was one of the most absurdly unbalanced games out there as is, so... well... I'm just skeptical is all.

I'll be buying Smash 4 day one, probably both versions, and I'm sure I'll have some fun with it. I just wish that one day I'd have Melee 2 is all. It had an extremely unique feel with a combo system that no other game has come close to replicating, and I feel it's a shame it will never get a worthy successor.

At any rate, I'm shitting up the thread with my silly dreams. I'm sure that whatever we get will still be plenty of fun. They absolutely nailed Mega Man after all, and both Wii Fit Trainer and AC Villager look amazing. If nothing else I can enjoy Smash like I did back in the day, as nothing more than an awesome tribute to all things Nintendo. To bring our discussion full circle, your comments earlier about having a cast comprised entirely of the most unique characters possible would be the best way to reach this goal. :)

she always was, but im getting a feeling her reveal is sooner rather than later, like he is building up to her reveal with subtle hints, also remember he showed 1 or 2 screenshots of the KI map on 3DS, but we still dont know exactly how it "plays" for instance a mention of viridi and her bombs but no viridi yet

i wonder if the 3DS will be able to handle the xbomb along with the action at the sametime and keep a consistant framerate

That reminds me... How's the hardware of the 3DS compared to the Gamecube/Wii? I always thought it was somewhat close?

its suppose to a lil bit better than the gamecube, like every nintendo handheld, its suppose to represent a previous console in graphics cept wit things more refined and such, the 3DS has been a mixed bag of clearly looking better than gamecube, looking about the same as gamecube, and clearly looking worse than gamecube, really its the CPU thats giving it so much trouble

I think it will. Wouldn't that be the main reason behind restricting thing like Olimar's number of Pikmin? The game should be able to handle the increased number, it's when you add everything else going on that it'd be a problem.

I guess it also will have less items at once than the console version (or they might just reduce the number of simultaneous items in both, although I hope they won't do that). Brawl itself cut down on the number of simultaneous Pokemon compared to Melee, IIRC, although I can't remember about items in general.

I thought you were implying that Sakurai didn't care about competitive balance when you said he didn't care about Melee players. My mistake. Although if you are saying the only way he can show he cares about the Melee scene is by making Melee 2, I will agree with you, going by that criteria, he doesn't care about Melee players. Even if the next game can support a healthy competitive scene any gameplay differences will ruffle the feathers of some diehards.

It'll do fine. KIU online had action left, right and centre with no framedips, so I can't imagine any issues.

Also, X-Bomb in KIU was fine and that game had more going on than Smash.

I had a dream I was playing the new Smash Bros.

It had weird 1st/3rd person controls and odd collectathon objectives like drinking 8 cartons of fruit juice from a giant supermarket fridge.

So if little mac becomes a playable character in this game, what other assist trophies would you like to see become playable characters?

I'd love Ray MKIII, Isaac and the Excitebike racer to become playable characters.

Dr Wright.

NOW i saw in a blog and understood the pilotwings/minecraft stuff.

Ive been seeing this thread title for days and didnt had a clue..

Its sad. Very sad.

I can't even recall the X Bomb, i'd sooner have had one of the other Uprising items Qurupeke mentioned, mainly demon vine, boom spear or Eggplant/Tempura Bomb.

X-Pac confirmed too
*dodges thrown tomato*

I wonder if the Smash audience would never cheer for him and just spend the matches chanting X-Pac Sucks because of all that X-Pac heat.
