Trailer

"As the mother of a litter of cubs you are forced out from familiar and safe surroundings to find new shelter in a beautiful, but dangerous world. The harsh reality of nature plays a pivotal role in the game whilst at the same time Shelter aims to pay a homage to the great outdoors and all its imposing beauty."

Shelter is the new game from Indie developer studio Might and Delight, who brought you Pid in 2012.

The game is a third-person, single-player adventure game for PC and Mac.

In Shelter the player takes on the role of a badger mother who needs to protect her cubs from the dangers that exist in nature. The game takes the player on an emotional journey, and focuses heavily on creating attachment between the player and the badger family.

Shelter is planned for release late summer 2013.

Can't view images or trailer at work, but the concept interests me, will keep any eye out for it.
For that matter I should really get Pid from US PSN already @_@.

Not really liking the art style, the colours all seem to blend into one another meaning the views lack definition and for a game celebrating the 'imposing beauty' of nature it sure has gone out of its way to make it look grimy and horrible. The gameplay idea sounds mildly interesting, I'll keep an eye on this.

Looks like it could be an interesting game concept. Visually, i'm not convinced at this point but i need to see more to have a better idea. It might actually look good once more gameplay footage is shown (some parts in the trailer looked nice, some looked average).

The game looks radically different from Might & Delight's previous game, Pid, which i loved. Pity this isn't coming to consoles though but i assume Pid didn't do that well? I'm surprised this is already coming out this summer.

I'm excited to find out more about this game. Might & Delight won me over with Pid so i'll be there if the game turns out to be good.

I can't believe I missed this thread when it was originally posted. I saw it mentioned in that indie games thread. Everything about this sounds good so far. I wish there were more "realistic" games about animals like this rather than being all cute and aimed at younger audiences.

Pretty impressive they're not sticking to one game type just like Klei and Jonathan Blow. Keeping it fresh. Badger simulator, yes pls.

Braid and the Witness seem very different bro.

And Klei have been impressively diverse. Sure, Mark of the Ninja and the Shank games may look close after a quick glance, but one emphasizes stealth while the other emphasizes all-out action (as far as I know, have not played Mark of the Ninja yet).

Plus, Don't Starve is a completely different kind of game for them. They also recently announced a strategy game.

Haha I think you took my post as opposite. I meant, Klei, Jonathan Blow, and now Might and Delight are all in the same camp of making wildly different games.

I'm really excited to what Incognita will play like, being turn-based TACTICAL ESPIONAGE. MoTN was 2012 GOTY.

Ahhh now I got you! Yes, there are plenty of diverse and exciting indie games to look forward to :) Incognita looks special!

Three days till release!

Okay, now I understand and value quality over quantity. Games like Journey, Limbo, and Vanquish are testaments to that. But I was reading a review that stated the game was only 90 minutes to two hours long, a bit longer if the player takes his time to explore.

Its too short! I finished it on average of 90 minutes to two hours. Yes you can make the game last longer by going off exploring. I still wanted more.

I love the concept and all the reviews so far have been phenomenal but IMO that seems a bit short.

Even though I'm interested in this game, I'll wait for reviews before buying. First, I wasn't confident that the premise of the game could be interesting for long, but now it seems that the game is too short. Either it is a truly unique gamne, as Gone Home is, and so worth the price even being short, or I'll wait for a sale.
