Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I watched the MegaMen reveal trailer, got a vibe from it saying Sonic nor Snake were coming back, did anyone else get this feeling as well?

Yes for Bomberman. We can have Pac-Man, Mega Man and Bomberman fighting for the 3rd mascot place.

I agreed with most of your characters, but Waluigi and Tingle? Waluigi is a filler character and his only main game is dancing game. Did Nintendo trying to sweep Tingle under the rug since Western hate him?
I'd add Shulk (one game), King K. Rool (Dixie is in a new release) and Takamaru (unlike Pit no new game).

This is the only other third party character I've ever entertained as feasible, but I hate hate HATE Pac-Man with arms and legs. He is just revolting. I know Sakurai has a AAA track record here with making third-party inclusions look better than they ever looked in their own games, but I'm not sure what can reasonably be done to make limbed-Pac-Man not just look like a yellow bastard child of Kirby and Sonic. The only thing I'd be happy with is if they put him in there with NO limbs. Floating pie chart with a black dot for an eye. That I'd be on board with. I don't think he'd really be different enough from other playable characters otherwise. It'd be pretty hard to make a moveset work though.
I like his Mario Kart appearance:

Although given that they changed it for the latest one says a lot.

IIRC the new Kid Icarus game was developped because Pit was popular among Smash Bros players. They could give Takamaru a modern look and if people like him, he'll get a new game.

And for Shulk, I don't think he's the most likely to be featured in Smash Bros, but with Xenoblade success in Japan and operation Rainfall, I can see it happening. I hope at least as a trophy.

Seriously? Palutena would be a much better fit than Hades.

But she's SO BORING. I don't want another noble princess/queen type character in this game. The only appealing thing about her character is her banter with Pit.

Hades is a legitimate threat and we need more villains desperately. And yeah, we need more female characters too, but even Viridi would be a more appealing option, given her stature and the potential of a nature-based moveset.

Waluigi should be playable in this game. But he shouldn't belong to the Mario universe with the mushroom logo, but in the Wario one. Even if he's not in any Wario game, he would be like the Wario version of Luigi. Or something.

I want a Wario & Waluigi game.

Remember the taunt activated codec calls with Snake in Brawl? Pit should be able to do something similar to talk to Palutena.

Actually, Mega Man is based on his newer designs, because the design used in Smash Bros. IS the newest design of Mega Man. His design hasn't exactly changed much...at all. He looks pretty much the same in Mega Man 10 as he did in the first Mega Man. Any other design (X, Volnutt, .EXE, etc.) isn't the same character.

Huh... Megaman's design actually changed quite a bit.

This is the modern design of classic Megaman:

The Smash design is based on his original sprite and earliest (Japanese) artwork, not on his modern slimmer redesign.

I'd add Shulk (one game)

Well, we just need to see if X has any relation to Xenoblade. He doesn't need to be in two games of a series just to be part of a series (see Ness and Lucas).

and Takamaru (unlike Pit no new game).

Pit didn't have a new game ever since his GB entry when he appeared in Brawl. Aside from his NES game, Takamaru has a special mode that was a sequel to his game in Samurai Warriors 3, a cameo in Captain Rainbow and the attraction in Nintendo Land.

If I could choose, I wouldn't put ANY new Kid Icarus character. Seriously: None. But if I should put one, I'd put Viridi, I don't want gods in Smash Bros. Gods beaten by Jigglypuff and Luigi, ugh.

Donno why people keep going on about Pacman when The King of All Cosmos is the Namco rep.*

*As foretold by the tea leaves.

Yeah. Screw integrity. I would be okay with something this weird happening. It would certainly be better than ugly anthropomorphic pac-man.

World ain't ready for the royal rainbow.

Mega Man's taller redesign always bothers me. It looks so weird because his design wasn't made for that height. I'm so glad they went with short Mega Man.

I mean... if you're seriously gonna get irritated by shit like that, you're kinda playing the wrong game. Where's the line exactly? Ganondorf can get bodied by Olimar, but Hades can't?

Hell, don't ever play Marvel. :lol

I can kind of see the issue with Jigglypuff(although most Pokemons would suffer from the same thing, IMO), but why Luigi? He's a main hero in the Mario series too. If you're fine with Luigi beating up Pit, why can't Luigi beat bosses from Pit's games?

most nintendo characters are completely overpowered, starfox, metroid, legend of zelda, and even the pokemon series are not normal levels of destruction, and if they add saki to playable status instead of assist trophy then you got another planer buster in smash

I do believe we're momentarily forgetting these are trophies we're talking about, good friend.

Maybe I didn't express myself correctly. I don't like the fact that several-meters-high-gods would be shrunk to the Smash Bros scale, especially after Brawl where Palutena appeared in the background during Pit's final smash to send an army of angels. I don't want to see her hitting Pikachu with a baseball bat after that.

I play Marvel and if Galactus was shrunk down to be in the cast, I'd have the same complaint. It's not a "Ridley's too big"
(He really is)
kind of problem but idk, their franchise established them as gigantic overpowered gods and personally I don't want to see that kind of character throwing a Pokeball on Zelda.

Maybe that's just me. The more I read this thread, the more I feel like a hater. The most requested characters are the one I really don't want: Palutena, King K Rool, Waluigi, Ridley, ...

plautena is literally human size in the game, idk if you played it yet but she does shrink down,m hell the anime shorts the ydid have palutena shrunken down several times, she interacts with pit all the time

The second Kid Icarus character will be
the little girl you control at the beginning of that one chapter.

I would bet that, if there is a new Kid Icarus character, it will be Magnus.

Muscular Jack black, needs to be in smash.

This is a fair point. While I do have the same complaint about palutenia, she is a bit more feasible than ridley and galactus.

This is Mega Man from Mega Man 10, Mega Man's latest appearance. He looks pretty much the same as he does in Smash Bros. Maybe his proportions are a tiny bit different, but he still has pretty much the exact same design.

If anything, he looks more like his current design in Smash Bros. than his original design. Here's Mega Man's design from the first game:

Pretty sure Mega Man is based off of his classic NES sprite and nothing else.

I get what you're saying, you don't want the scale and might of these characters to be diminished. I don't really understand that in this specific instance, though. Those characters turned out to be incredibly goofy and irreverent in KI:U, and I'm not sure that throwing a Pokeball at Zelda can detract from their stature. You talk about them being overpowered and whilst, yes, the game did a lot to reinforce that these are gods, they're still stupid, naive, stubborn, spiteful, clumsy... To compare them to Galactus, an all-knowing, purposeful force of utter annihilation, the likes of Viridi and Hades are kinda rubbish.

I can understand your thinking in terms of Palutena getting in the game - she's the boring one, so obviously she comes across as the most "divine" and above petty squabbles - but I don't see why Hades and Viridi should be considered unable to join the ruckus. They're so daft. I don't think they're the kind of character you think they are.

Oh, and don't worry, I don't want K.Rool or Waluigi either.

I think he looks.. extremely different. You can't just hand-wave away proportions. The SSB interpretation is also extremely strict in the kind of animations and facial expressions he has, which this art style moves well beyond.

I am sorry, who sincerely wants KRool is this game, Like why? I am interested, I do not like Him for many reasons. ( I do not like a lot of rare's stuff to be honest, epically their super generic character designs.) But I just want some perspective on why you would want this guy in , seriously why?

She may not be as interesting as some of the other characters in Kid Icarus: Uprising, but she's far more important to the Kid Icarus franchise than any other character besides Pit, and that's what matters most when it comes to Smash Bros. Medusa would make it in before Hades, but even she's not as important as Palutena. And Viridi? HA!

It will be Palutena if we even get a second Kid Icarus character.

When I said I wouldn't add any Kid Icarus character, it's only because I think one character for this franchise is enough, that's all. I have nothing against Viridi or Hades as characters.

Well that's fair. Realistically, a three-game franchise (with 99% of all characters coming from one game) probably doesn't warrant more than one character.

Just give me a stage where the gods banter in the background and I'll be happy as Larry.

That is all I want, Just Like WWE banter and they occasionally get involved.

Because he was a frequent recurring villain for one of Nintendo's biggest series whose various alias make for great moveset potential.
Plus he'd be another heavyweight, the game needs more heavy characters.

Yeah K Rool is a villain and villains always make for more interesting characters. His cannon and rocket skating would be fun to use too. There's just enough to pull from his appearances in the series that would make him a unique and interesting character to use.

The villain argument is also why they need to use insane murderous storm-brewing Mewtwo over whatever other Mewtwo interpretations there are.

He looks nothing like the top design and very similar to the bottom. Just look at him in Smash again. His proportions are pretty much what the bottom design has

The worst part about SSB4 is that they're probably going to use Samus' stupid Zero Suit from Other M
How the hell would you even properly run around and fight with those stupid-ass high heels Other M gave Zamus.

Also K. Rool should focus on the fact the guy suffers from some sort of depressing but equally hilarious multiple-personality disorder and have him constantly shift between his 'king' persona to that of a pirate, mad scientist, boxer and maybe even some tiki/viking themed stuff to reference the newer DKC games.

Now I want K Rool! I do think his design is very generic, especially when compared to Dixie Kong but his alter egos do make up for it I suppose.

I've always liked the character but him and his cronies not being in Jungle Beat or Returns didn't bother me for one second. He still is very popular though among people who group around the Country trilogy.

Every Smash Bros poll I see he is usually in the top 5. Now that Mega Man is confirmed the most popular without a doubt are always Mewtwo, Ridley, King K Rool in that order, every single time. Though Ridley is the only one with an anti fan base lol.

I have a question for all the people that think King K. Rool looks generic. What do you think of the designs of Wii Fit Trainer and Villager?

I've got this sitting above my TV:

I aint complainin.

The only real problems with the Zero Suit design in Other M are the plasticy--Team Ninja texture, which Smash will fix, and her vomit inducing heels, which, I, well, hope Smash fixes, because fuck those things. They don't even make any sense.

Of all the things in Smash Brothers, you're questioning heels?

Gotta say, I objectify a whole lot of fictional women, and the last thing that sticks in my craw is "oh no her heels." You guys got some peculiar hangups.

she's a girl and girls love high heels what's not to get you just don't get sakamoto's amazing vision for samus

next you're going to complain about her beauty mark being a totally pointless addition
because it absolutely is. God I hate M:OM

I agree that he's a bit bland visually in the first DKC, but he more than makes up for it through wacky stuff like faking his own death with the fake credits scroll and being the only remotely challenging boss fight in that game. In later games they managed to give him that sort of funny humor the Mario games only recently gave to Bowser while having a much better design. K. Rool looks like a poorly articulated action figure when he runs around in DKC, but in DKC2 using the blunderbuss as a means of transportation was hilarious.

Top Bottom
