Heh, I enjoyed just exploring and doing quests. If you want some direction though, looking up a trophy guide and getting the various trophies was quite fun and also helped push me towards completing the game.

i can see how other people could enjoy the game more than I did. I was merely showing my frustrations with the game and how someone else might agree.

on a more positive note, i tried staying away from spelunky until the vita release but i couldn't resist. I made it to the temple this weekend, killed anubis, got the scepter, but got my brains fried from my own projectile.

i was disappointed but happy with my own accomplishment.
 
When will Syphon Filter Dark Mirror and Syphon Filter Logan's Shadow be available on the PSN stores? IMO those two games are vastly superior to any third person shooters available on PSP or Vita. What the hell is Bend doing?
 
wait 11.99 for Spelunky is considered a sale?

i was more or less referring to the complete ripoff and abomination that is Limbo

not only a bad game, but a game that is years old suddenly cost 15$ on Vita just because we are desperate for games, when you can regularly buy limbo for under 2 dollars on PC

So here comes spelunky which was a flash game and then released on XBLA but a long time ago, now coming to Vita

but i suppose if its not blatantly overpriced compared to other platforms like PC then its ok

i'd pay $20 for Spelunky HD and not even think twice about it

you've mentioned your dislike for Limbo. that's old news

Spelunky was never a flash game. There was a free version of the game made in gamemaker that Derek Yu made in his free time, but that was years ago and the new one is completely redone and greatly expanded.
 
Alright, Spelunky's being mentioned alot here so I decided to look it up and I must say, I may have to buy it. Randomly generated levels, classic platforming vibe, also 30 hour campaign? Very promising game.

Digital games, particularly award-winning ones that sell well and are frequently referred to as inspiration for other developers, big and small, hold their value. Get over it everyone.

the campaign really isn't close to 30 hours, if you're good at the game, but I've died 247 times on PC already and only made it to 4-1

i haven't touched the city of gold or hell yet

A co-op mode that's supposed to be a lot of fun, too. I'm not 100% but I think it might be only adhoc, though. Hopefully I'm wrong.

Thinking of getting the digital version before the sale ends.

And be real with me, does it get boring after the first 2-4 hours?

And it isn't cross-buy. Which is like the only net benefit toward that price. It's roughly $5.50 per version if you plan to play both later on on Sony platforms.

I get more enjoyment out of games like Spelunky than other bigger releases.
The price isn't an issue. The soundtrack, much like Hotline Miami, gets my blood pumping like no other game.
 
I think it's because I've spent so much time there, but I prefer the Caves music (1-1 through 1-4)

the one track reminds me SO much of Shadowrun for the SNES it's ridiculous. I think i'm the only one that gets that
 
someone needs to make a vita/ps3 OT for spelunky.

i need some other people to talk strats with and what not

please post a lot of shiny pictures. those make me happy :)
 
I haven't played my vita in..well, a long time. But now I'm going on vacation and need the power of the handheld so I went shopping!!! I tried to target fun and addicting games, with both action and also puzzles!!

Bought Lumines, Stealth INC., Pixel Junk Monsters and Jacob Jones. Hopefully this will entertain me for the next 2 weeks !

Any other good puzzle game for the vita?

If anything, the game is less fun in the beginning as the enemies are less interesting and you have fewer offerings (spells) and sigils (gear) to base your own tactics around. If you like the general concept of SS (I suppose you've tried the demo?), you can get a lot of playtime out of SS without getting bored, I'd say.

Theres co-op? Neat, will go solo first though.

I know this is a bit out of there but I got too many games to play now! Dragon's Crown, P4G, TMK, SH BoM, Orgarhythm, and then Kickbeat, Spelunky and KZ Mercenary! D:
I now understand how those Steam sale buyers feel like!

man's nuances i find myself enjoying. i would never play trials evolution, but his motorcycle noises go along way

he has a mod (MAN) of his own face in Spelunky. I had to show my son. His jaw dropped.
 
Having fun so far with Touch My Katamari. My first Katamari Damacy game and it's as trippy as expected.

Also real glad that Spelunky and Kickbeat are finally coming out with firm release dates and discounts too. Getting both day one for sure. Can't wait for the other indie games on my wishlist...(Terraria, Lone Survivor, Frozen Synapse, Fez). I'm staying Vita-only on those titles (unless a humble bundle comes out in which case it's double-dip time).

Great choices! I also really like Ten by Eight, which is a PS Mobile game. It's cheap and addictive.

Hotline Miami is an action/puzzle game at heart. Highly addicting.

He needs to find his own niche. He's Man's apprentice, and it shows. He'll be fine, I think.
