Sony's Gamescom Media Briefing On "Release Plans for PlayStation 4"

Gametrailers live video player supports replaying of old content. If you catch their post-show, you will be able to move the position of the player to the -2hr state and see everything.

Cool. Will try and launch the player with my eyes closed to avoid reveals in linked articles then.

I'd loved to see some gameplay from The Order but nevermind if Sony announces new games instead, trailers will come at time.

Also I'm pretty excited to know how will Sony reply to Fifa packed with every Xbox One

Not sure how you respond to giving away a game as big as FIFA. You only really have GTA and COD that are bigger.

at E3, I'm not really worried because I got the impression they're focusing on third party games and partnership for E3 with AssCreed, WatchDogs and Destiny, as well as indies shown during presscon.

my guess at that time is Gamescom is where they'll focus on first party games announcement, than during TGS or pre TGS is where they announce japanese centric games.

but now we got news that they're holding back for gamescom. they're running out of time to announce their 1st half of 2014 games lineup. VGA and GDC next year is prebably reserved for end of 2014 or even 2015 titles imo.

Exactly. If we don't get a game announcement at Gamescom, that means for the first half of 2014 the only notable big retail exclusive game is inFamous Second Son. They can't annoubnce first half of 2014 games at VGA as thats leaving it quite late.

I really want to see a resurgence of Japanese games but Gamescom isn't really the best place for that and that's why my expectations are pretty damn low. It's TGS when my hype will be through the roof. I hope Sony molds its Japanese arm like how their turned their American studios into something big this past gen.

You guys really should not worry about no games being in development, there is still a large amount of Sony studios and some second teams that are in the dark. Unless you think they are making vita games or something. I think they want to stop the agent, bioshock vita, last guardian screw ups. They don't need to announce everything right now anyway.

Sony dropped the ball with the whole 20 games thing then. Unless we are expecting games to release a couple of months after their reveals.

Sadly, in the grand scheme of gaming, that's a minority mentality. JRPG is my favorite genre BY FAR, but I also play the living shit out of local MP in Sports/Shooters. I'll be getting Watch Dogs, but after AC3, I'm going to wait to see how AC4 pans out. That said, being able to play FIFA/Madden with better graphics is a huge huge HUGE selling point to a lot of general consumers.

I can understand why someone in your position isn't very happy with what's been revealed so far, but majority rules.

Very true.
I think my complaint comes because I regard Sony as the outlier in terms of content, because they always seem to provide some unique and unusual titles alongside the more mainstream blockbusters. And as it stands, the PS4 is pretty heavily catering for the mainstream and not so much for the little guys. There was The Witness and a few indies that caught my eye, but that was about the length of it. So I'm a bit annoyed they apparently pulled The Order from Gamescom because that was one of their more interesting games. In contrast, Microsoft had quite a strong focus on smaller/unique titles, at E3.
This is why I wouldn't be satisfied with just more of Killzone and stuff like that.

Everytime someone makes a list of lauch games for the next-gen consoles, they almost always leave off Need for Speed: Rivals. lol

I know it comes in Nov, but I didn't realize that they actually announced it as a launch title. Also, no one seems to give a shit about it next to DriveClub and Forza. NFS has worse character fatigue than Mario.

Cross your fingers and hope that Media Molecule comes through. I can't wait to see what they have in the works to follow up LBP/Tearaway.

Offering a game isn't the only solution, securing a huge third-party exclusive could be a really good move (Verendus teased us something like that recently). PS4 + Fifa is cheaper than Xbox One, now it's just a matter of showing they have the best partners

You respond by trusting the public school system and the second grade math teachings across Europe

People can still calculate that the PS4 + FIFA 14 is cheaper, no need to respond.

these stats.

111 awards. If only they'd been given 69 more ;)

I guess.

In my mind I took it that the original line-up was meant to be impressive like Verendus had heard, but a lot of stuff had been pulled , like Mortimer had heard.

Thread on the front page , CVG and MCVUK reporting XO bundle deal with FIFA 14 for £429 in Europe.

MS bundling FIFA 14 with X1 might convince Sony to reconsider their stance and unveil some of their AAA's games

But MS said almost the exact same thing. Something like 13 titles and 8 were new IP or something like that. I forgot the exact numbers though. Im not sure if they have announced all of them or not.

I am not worried at all with Sony's library. Look at this year and the games released between MS and Sony. I also don't have dozens of hours to play every week, so a few games keeps me occupied for long time.

UK centric opinion : Now the difference between the 2 is ~£40.

I'm sure there are a good few folk happy to pay £40 extra to get Kinect 2.0 + FIFA.

I doubt Sony will even acknowledge it tbh, if it's even FIFA. Still not convinced it's not just going to be Kinect Sports or something equally shit.

It's scheduled to come out same day as Watch Dogs.

These are all launch window games. People quoting developers saying game x (especially Watch Dogs) will be available at launch are taking it too literally.

If that were the case, both the XB1 and the PS4 would release on November 19th or later.

An equal amount of people or more will be happy to pay £40 less to get the most powerful console.

What are these smaller titles MS has?

A "random" user will spend 500 Euros?

PS3 12 GB+Soccer game for 199.

I've seen it happen my whole life. There are tons of priveleged kids out there whose parents will spend however much to get them the Christmas present that they want. Also, the comment was about the poster being embarrassing. I was simply stating that I don't think those 2 particular demographics will find it such, mostly us who follow gaming more closely and know that all those numbers mean absolutely nothing.

That's not what I'm saying. I never gave enough of a shit I guess to find out the actual release date, and I also have been operating under the assumption that "launch games" would have their dates moved to coincide with the console launches, but not window games.

Wait...what the fuck? Is this some late-coming megaton or are MS just mistaken because some PR noob saw Bungie was making it and forgot that they were their own studio now?
Considering Bungie was at Sony's conference demoing the game at E3 and Bungie turned a question about XBO into praise for Sony and next gen in general...

Some games could theoretically but no developer was ever going to spill the beans or even hint at what the release date(s) might be, other than what Sony and MS had already put out there. So they'd just say it would be ready at launch regardless of when their release dates were.

I think most console launches are considered in a window of weeks not day one.

Makes sense. I'll make the correction. As it stands, it's still the launch game with the least chance of me buying it(including Just Dance).
