I'm not expecting too many announcements, frankly.

I think they'll announce at least one new major game. Something from the European studios.

But outside of that, they probably don't need to do much to keep the hype train going. Announcing the launch date will probably be enough to do that.

I expect Uncharted 4 and maybe whatever Santa Monica is doing to be shown at the VGAs.

Honestly, as long as I get to see the OS in action, Drive Club at 60 fps, Killzone MP and a release date in October, I will not be disappointed.

I'd rather watch paint dry.

while they do have surprises usually for gamescom i am worried they don't have enough time to focus on ps4, vita and ps3. i say ps3 because they are most likely going to hype up gran turismo 6 and maybe a couple others. so 10 minutes for ps3 and if we are lucky 20 mintues for vita then that leaves just like 30 minutes for ps4 with release date info , new games, ui, launch lineup etc... i hope the conference is more than an hour if we don't want to be disappointed.

I would expect something more along the lines of 5 minutes for Vita, which leaves plenty of PS4 time. It won't take that long to show the same Indie titles they'll show for the PS3 as well as watered down versions of the retail PS3 games.

Sony tends to treat GamesCom as a pretty big deal - they announced the PS3 Slim there, they also announced Resistance 3. So I don't say what I say because I think they consider it a lesser event. But I'm just expecting them to keep their cards close to their chest, since they don't need to reveal them yet.

They really don't, fifa is only for pre orders, it's not going to make much of a difference as PS4 is sold out until 2014.

There's this notion that E3 is the hallmark place where all major announcements go to, and Gamescom are just the scraps.

This is true for MS and many other 3rd-party devs/publishers, but Sony has always given equal, if not more weight in the stuff they unveil in Gamescom compared to E3.
