Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

Heh, I find it hilarious that the pic of the day ended up being Ridley-related and we were just talking about him.

Anyway, hey - he still has a chance! What if it's another Ridley!
What if we get Furbley (you know, that furby ridley thingamagic) as a character!
 
Even if Other M is garbage, there's no denying that the stage itself looks great. I already like it better than Frigate Orpheon from Brawl, which was pretty bland and boring outside of the stage gimmick.

Also, they need to bring back Brinstar Depths from Melee. Easily the best Metroid stage in the entire series.

I'm tempted to save this title, Ridley's believe it or not. for Official Thread for SSB4 release.

Edited: It seem that 3DS might get casual stages and Wii U might get tournament stages because I felt that most of stages that we saw from Wii U is catering to hardcore players. But it's possible that my theory might happens tho.

Please don't, oh gosh, please don't. I can handle stage references, and design references even. But Furby Ridley is too much. Such an awful massacre of Ridley as a character and species...

I've said it before - Ridley is, at the moment, my top most wanted newcomer. But I'd rather have no Ridley at all before Other M Ridley, especially if Other M Ridley incorporated his awful "evolution" nonsense. Ridley is not supposed to be a badly-designed Pokemon.

I think the 3DS stages are more hardcore so far. They have the Kid Icarus one, the scrolling Mario one, the moving train, fire Gerudo Valley.

All of the Wii U one's except Pilotwings are just boring platforms. For now, anyway.

I think it will have a balance.

Some like the basic stages but I love the fucking wild ones.

Eh? Hardcore players as tournament players. But yeah, you are right in sense where it can be very chaos during battles which I would love to see in Wii U.

I thought you meant in terms of stage design. Both'll be hardcore for sure.

Of course tourney players will use the Wii U version.

I love the wild action stages. So much better than the single platform ones.
 
The Metroid stages were very disappointing in Brawl imo. Norfair and Orpheon were too plain and Orpheon especially was very lazily designed. I like how this stage has a main platform with some real depth and incorporated into the stage design rather than being a long floating rectangle in front of a themed background. This stage and the Pilotwings one make me more hopeful that the stages will be a bit more dynamic and more thematic.

Looks good, sounds like either Ridley or Kraid (or both?!) might be a stage hazard or something. Now I wanna know what music will be used & how many tracks will be from Other M.

Metroid Prime never sold well in Japan (Other M didn't either though). The main issue is that the Prime games were considered just a side series, not mainline Metroid becoming 3d. That's different from Other M, which was the official 3d transition, which is why Brawl Samus kept representing Super Metroid, rather than the Prime games, but now they've gone with Other M.

Kraid wouldn't be there. It's a lava stage and even if Kraid could take a lava bath the moat would be too small for him. Besides, he wasn't in Other M.

What I do like, though, is that the stage looks like it's actually built for the Wii U, rather than being a direct asset rip from Other M. There have been far too many asset-rip stages so far, I was starting to worry that everyone would be fighting in stages with previous-gen graphics for "authenticity."

Yeah, so far one of the biggest disappointments is the Skyward Sword stage. Floating rectangles flying around Skyloft. Make the platforms Beetle's airship or something. 3DS has that badass Spirit Tracks stage.

Well, Skyloft is an entire city, not just a room. Rebuilding it would take more resources. Skyward Sword itself seems kind of shafted here considering how they're still using what is basically Twilight Princess Link with brighter colors. The only detail that's specifically from Skyward Sword in his design is the color of his chainmail.

Yeah, the Skyward Sword stage sucks.

Flying around a empty city, lol. No NPC, no nothing.

Badass Spirit Tracks stage is awesome though.

This will make for a good read. I've just skimmed the last page of their Ridley thread and just noticed people saying there was apparently a suicide attempt over no Lyn in Brawl and some guy not purchasing the game if Ridley isn't playable.

I love everything forever.

Anyways, I don't think anyone is really pissed off about Ridley's possible disconfirmation here. I'm disappointed but it's no biggie because Mega Man is still in Smash. All I absolutely want now is Mewtwo, Sonic and (unlikely but I'll live with it) Snake back.

Ok the first step towards stage hazard has begun... It was great fighting the Ridley fight. While there is still hope in crappy reasoning like (Other M Ridley is a different Ridley, or DLC could be added later) it looks like the toobigots win again...
 
It's all right. If Ridley isn't playable in Smash 4, we can just wait for Smash 5. Hopefully by then they will have a new Metroid game and so we can get a decent design for the guy instead of having to deal with his awful, chunky, Other M design. Plus there will be much less risk of Sakurai missing the entire point of Ridley support and putting in *shudder* Furby Ridley or Lizard Ridley.

I don't think you can take a remark Sakurai makes on the internet as (de)confirmation of anything.

What would Adam even do? His only human representation was as a fairly generic SPAESS MAHRINE. Hell, he was more memorable as an AI.
