Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Muramasa Rebirth (Aksys Games) also stealth announced for EU on the EU blog. So finally don't have to import that.

May be a typo because EU blog doesn't list The Binding of Isaac: Rebirth.

Football Manager Classic (great was looking forward to that until i found out it's a cut down version therefore not worth full price)

I play Fifa Manager so I don't know about Football Manager but the blog doesn't make it sound like a cut back version.

So what is Football Manager Classic?

Well, it’s a mode that was added into last year’s PC and Mac version of Football Manager as a quicker way to play the full Football Manager experience. It has all you’d expect from FM – our huge database of players researched by a team of over 1,500 scouts around the world, a 3D match engine showing the action, a full tactics module, realistic transfers, AI that makes both players and managers act as you’d expect them to in the real world, and dozens of playable leagues, with hundreds of manageable clubs from all over the world, but has been streamlined for a faster playing experience.

It does, however, have way more features than the PSP Football Manager Handheld releases which you may have played on your PS Vita before. And, to re-iterate, the full FM 3D match engine!

How do you get a PC game, fully featured, onto PS Vita? You call on geniuses to help you, that’s how!

The best thing about all of this is that not only will you now get to play Football Manager Classic on a PS Vita but, for the first time ever, if you have the game on PC, Mac or Linux, you’ll be able to play the game across all platforms. Play the game at home on your computer, upload the saved game to the cloud, download on your PS Vita, and continue to play on the bus. Anytime, any place, anywhere.

Needless to say, I am pretty hyped for a fully fletched portable Football Managing game. Crosssave is also great.

This. It really reeks that there was no localizations, big new games or anything. While the price drop and memory card drop is nice, I still would have loved to hear a few Japanese games being localized.

Though I'm not sure if they announce localizations of games during these events.

Yeah, it's pretty bad situation and a bad day for Japanese games fans on Vita, Senran Kagura Burst will get a localization on 3DS (and a retail release in europe) but no Versus for Vita not even a censored/cut one, not Diva F, no God Eater 2, absolutely nothing from Japan.

Playstation systems are known for having great and tons of Japanese titles (PSone, PS2,PS3 and PSP all are the systems to get for Japanese games), and so far Vita is a PlayStation system by name only, Only western indie games will not lead to a healthy platform.

While i agree with you here, i don't understand why were people looking at Gamescom for localization announcement of all places :/

Can anyone tell me of any Japanese title localization announcements at GamesCom?

Because you can find bad news anywhere if you look hard enough! If I don't hear about Media Molecule's new game at TGS I'm gonna flip though. I'm serious.

Oh, and I forgot to ask it before. How is Hot Shots / Everybody's Golf. It's not a genre that I love, but Amazon has and offer with a 16GB Card + DD Game for the same price, and I'm thinking on buying it. I have to say I don't have the money to buy a 32GB yet.

I love Hot Shots Golf. One of the best retail games on Vita imo. Wiled away a month or so of my time on it in the early days of Vita, then picked it back up when they released Kat from Gravity Rush as a DLC character.

this
I want to see the vita become a handheld for jrpg and all those great games being released over there, not a le indie crap handheld

Phew, just got done typing up the KickBeat OT. Learned a few extra tidbits about the game that I didn't know about before (like that it has multiplayer!) along the way. My body is ready.

Well, we announced an online multiplayer mode last year, but we cut it this year because it was going to turn a 3.5 years of development into 4-5. It's still available as a split-screen local mode for PS3 only, though.

For what was previously PC-exclusive, Broken Sword The Serpent's Curse coming to the Vita has made my month. Even better if it ends up being crossbuy and comes to the PS3 too.

Edit - Bye ionca.

I don't remember the last time they did that.... I only recall localization's being revealed by publishers themselves (i.e. twitter) and or TGS when they mention a NA launch window. These games are obviously going to localized though, Freedom Wars, Toukiden and God Eater 2.

These posts are bothering me, I don't understand the outcry. The lineup for the rest of the year looks great so far. Indie titles aren't so bad, I look at indie games as great smaller games I can play in between big launches.

I think the Vita showing today at GamesCon was solid, not great or amazing but solid.
6/10

do games that come out in the EU/NA/ROW get announced at TGS? or is it strictly Japanese releases?

also what about Pax, does that ever get announcements?

Yeah, European localization companies tend to be small and mostly license stuff that's already been brought to the US, and don't really attend conventions. The only thing I'd expected to hear there was if Sony was to unveil localizations they were doing, though given the whole #jrgpvita thing wasn't that long ago, any results are probably still a way off.

Where's Uncharted GA 2? Where's Gravity Rush 2? Where's GT? Where's a new GoW?

Nope, Sony knows what Vita owners want, hence yawners like Murasaki Baby (hello, Escape Plan) and Big Fest are given center stage treatment.

Thank goodness HSG got it's PS3 iteration recently and cross-play re-invigorated the online presence, otherwise my Vita would be gathering dust.

I totally agree with Totobeni. They are willing to go lengths to do years old port but not a localization of japanese games. I need physical NOT DD, I need japanese games DLC and play it on my main account and the pricing cut of memory card doesn't help AT ALL.

Why can't be Gamescom be a place to announce localization? Where else would be a good place to do? They don't even do Comic con so what gives?

Japanese game localization in Europe has a pretty big delay, and it often comes after the game had already been translated in North America.

You need physical releases? You expect Sony to announce a physical release of some Japanese title for the European market?

Think of ports as localisations for a different console.

I bought it today, heh. I shouldn't have, really. Pretty shallow. Probably won't be on my Vita for long.

yeah.. it's a game to waste few mins at work when you coworkers using all the PCs so you don't have internet (and your evil manager cut the wi-fi) to see gifs of your favorite Japanese idol on tumblr, nothing more nothing less.

well Europe usually get retail/physical releases more than USA (see Senran Kagura Burst on 3DS and NLKS on Vita)

All sounds pretty good to me. Remote play plus lots of games coming (indie, aaa who cares. Good games are good games)

Gravity rush 2 would be cool but I can wait.

I am always amazed by the amount of people that want more spin offs of well known IP's. I have found most franchises totally boring in recent times and way prefer new ideas / IP's.

Borderlands 2 might be worth getting for me. I got about 15 hours through it on pc but I just never finish games on systems set up on a TV these days. I just don't get much time for that anymore.

Anyway I was basically expecting a port and a mem card price cut.
I got:
Borderlands 2
Memory card AND vita price cut
Several new games.
Demo of remote play (huge for me)
Evidence that games will still come to ps4 with cross by to vita.

Pretty happy with it to be honest. Lots if games coming this year and plenty of time to announce other games for 2014. A new console launch means they want to focus on that unsurprisingly.

European market buy Japanese games
In Europe, One Piece , Saint Seiya, probably also JoJo will be coming there. All in physical release. They are all for PS3 but NamcoBandai hasn't even tried the Vita audience and probably doesn't care.

So like... 60~70% of what I'd care about on PS4 will make it to Vita as well XD Works out for me. Much like the Vita built up a cache of cross-play PS3 titles for me to play once I got that system, I'm sure the Vita will do a good job of giving be a library of PS4 titles before I get one eventually.

It was funny how Rogue Legacy showed up at the end of a presentation, and then was just Hush-Hush'd until it was time to be spoken of. I think I'll end up loving that game on the system.

Murasaki Baby looked very cool, but isn't completely eye catching to me.

Borderlands 2... Yay? After playing the mess out of 1, I haven't been able to dredge up the desire to play through 2 fully on 360, and I'm probably not double dipping on it at all...

Remote play looked solid from what we saw, great feature. Go Go $600+ Dollar version of the Wii U! I'm sure it'll bring a new dimension to actually allowing me to finish SP games easily though, so I'll love the feature once I get to use it.

"So where's my Gravity Rush II, or at least a PSN GR game to tide me over while I wait? You said wait for TGS? Sure, lets play that waiting game again!" used to this with Vita by now!

Price Drop on System and Memory Cards are great. You'll be able to find even better bundles on sale / deals now!

What I got from this showing is that Sony is REALLY REALLY into Indies right now, and that's not just a Vita thing, that's a Sony Brand thing. Since it was a focus on PS4 and Vita, it felt much nicer than the E3 variant, where it seemed like Vita was the one getting snubbed of larger budget game announcements.

I would have liked to have gotten more updates on the Games that GungHo and XSEED are bringing out of Japan, and maybe an update on something Sega related beyond Football manager. Picotto Knights, Samurai & Dragons, PSO2, where ARE you?

Cool, thanks for the input. Might need to get the official site updated with that though since that's where I got the information. :P

Anyway, I went to sleep straight after the conference, but I loved that they gave the Vita significant attention. However, I can't agree with the massive indie focus (though that was the direction of seemingly the entire conference). The two major announcements for me that I'm looking forward to are Borderands 2 and Minecraft.

Still catching up with everything, but one thing that stood out to me was that at one stage they said they had 7 new IPs to announce for the Vita. Muraski Baby and what's basically Music Tycoon were shown, but what are the other 5?

port of a game that everyone has already played.

Apparently not, according to the comments on the PS Blog for the game.
It's a good step in the right direction as are a lot of the great indies that are coming.

However, the lack of a 64gb stick and a mere $20 off memory cards? I don't want to swap memory cards, Sony. I will pay for the convenience of not having to swap. Update the bubble limit and give me a 64gb (or larger) stick.

A Phantasy Star Online 2 announcement would've been amazing, for sure. I was starting to doubt it would come over, but with Miku launching in a week, everything is up in the air.

I'm hoping retailers will cut memory card prices even lower so I can possibly upgrade my sixteen gig.

So glad I waited on Borderlands 2, but when will I even get to it.

Starbound, Rogue Legacy, Minecraft, Binding of Isaac, Fez...jesus

Let's be honest here. I would guess that a good portion of Vita owners are also owners of the PS3 system, and I would also guess that if they were interested in shooters and games like Borderlands 2, they probably would have bought it already. Sony can't solely depend on the wallets of consumers like some in this thread who are willing to double dip because they just love their Vita sooo much and DAT OLED and all that good stuff.

Porting games like this is just too little too late. The Vita needs the next (hypothetical) Borderlands, not Borderlands 2 which has been out a year already and can (probably) be bought cheaper elsewhere.

What is Bioshock Vita gonna be if it ever happens? Just a port of Bioshock Infinite?

I was expecting the Vita to be dead after Gamescom, and that's definitely not happening (even if that doesn't mean it's healthy, exactly). So hurray for Vita. Not that interested in most of the things they announced, though Binding of Isaac Rebirth would be good to have on the go (as might Rogue Legacy!).

Leftfield biggest announcement for me, though? BigFest. I'm really hoping it's not a super casualed-out game, because the idea of a reasonably intricate music festival management sim sounds pretty amazing to me. I even like the bit where they use indie/unsigned bands as festival bands/playlist fodder/background music, though after the Rock Band Network experience (METAL METAL METAL METAL METAL) I'm a little gunshy.

The LEGO Batman bundle has been $200 for a while now, and the Memory Card prices have already been the same as or lower than the 20% lowered prices.

Those price drops do essentially nothing. Didn't they say the memory card prices would be dropped 'significantly'? Unless I'm misremembering.

I got Borderlands 2 at launch for free and found it dreadfully boring. 90% of my time was spent opening loot chests which contained a variety of useless fodder guns, tiny amounts of money and nothing. It's a waste-your-time game. That or just not for me.

Mannnnnnnn.

I just bought Divekick, downloaded it and it came to about 480 MB.

...but there's a Day One patch that adds ANOTHER 488MB. What the hell? This has to be a mistake, right?

Heh, back in the day Broken Sword 1 was a full retail product published by Virgin (still have the box actually - 2 CDS AND OVER 50 HOURS OF CHALLENGING GAMEPLAY). And now the latest entry in the series is an "indie" game. How things change.

Does nobody see the importance on Borderlands?

If it sells, that Bioshock game could finally come.

Edit--if anyone wants a KZ beta key let me know I'm not going to use the Home key.

I have a feeling the patch replaces the original. Haven't had a chance to check though. It was weird seeing 2 downloads show up when I purchased it though.
