Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I hate to be contrarian, but why the hell would people want Ridley to be playable? He/She'd have such a terrible/boring moveset.

Villains are fun to play as, because we're not really going to get the chance to control a mother fucking space dragon from space like ridley in any other games.

Now all hope for new playable villain characters lies on K. Rool

I believe in the possibility of a TGS Nintendo Direct that might show off a character but aren't they bi-monthly? We've had a character revealed every month since the announcement (July - Olimar, August - Luigi) so I think a reveal next month will happen.

Todays picture

Nice to see them on the 3DS finally. And we get the option to adjust the outlines? Damn Sakurai, good stuff.

I don't know, I'm gonna buy both versions, but in the 3DS the characters stick out too much. It's not the outlines, which are a good idea, it's the graphic style of the stages.

Neat a pic of those two on the 3ds finally and the outline customization confirmation. Maybe different outline colors will be an option too.

WOO VILLAGERS IN THE 3DS VERSION :D I was genuinely worried, but awesome. Definitely going 3DS now.

I'm going with both versions.

Graphic options in my Nintendo game? Is this the future?

Welcome to the Future.

We just had direct but I would love to have pre tgs direct so we can see more newcomers reveals. But I doubt.

September - Wonder Red

No way. He wouldn't be playable character.

Remember this is a series of zoomed in shots.

Yeah that's probably it.
In this last photo is simply too explicit though, it looks like photoshopped lol.
To be honest though that other picture in the Kid Icarus stage looked fine so you're probably right.

Still convinced WiiU is the definitive version anyway.

Of course it is, lol. But the 3DS one is in no means slacking. Look at it, it looks pretty spot on so far.

One of the nicest games to look at too. I wonder how it looks on-screen since shots don't work well for 3DS.

Honestly, I didn't even watch it. I'm at work.

"Mahvel Baby!" is some shitty meme used by nerds to describe the Marvel vs.Capcom series because some dipshits were shouting it in a match video.

Mihael was referencing the fact that the black outlines resemble the 'comic shading' outlines used in Capcom fighters like Street Fighter IV and Marvel vs. Capcom 3 by calling them 'Mahvel baby' graphics.

There.

The 3DS one is more striking because of the cel-shading against regular backgrounds but the Wii U version will be beautiful(I don't think the screens do it justice) and probably play noticeably better because of the analog sticks.

But yeah, the 3DS version doesn't seem a slouch at all and seems like it will be worth owning or playing.

Eventually, I want both.

Forgive my ignorance, but I don't see how Pokemon X/Y can have a bajillion 3D Pokemon models and be fine, but somehow the 3DS' limitations may stifle the roster size of the Wii U version.

Wow, that screenshots looks fantastic; this will look even more fantastic in motion. The 3DS is easily becoming my console of choice (I'm hoping the Wii U will pick up speed within the next year). I, too, got used to the outlines, but with the ability to turn them off, I'm SOLD. I will be having both versions! :D

Well, so much for the hope of MTrainer and FVilllager on 3DS. Maybe they'll still be alt. costumes. Still, looks great.

It can't. Those suckling the tit of Sakurai are so desperate for info they abandon logic in the process.

Wow, outline customization is rather nice. & WTF and Villager looking good on 3DS version. Nice to finally see them on 3DS compared to Wii U.

Maybe the D-Pad will be okay for some people. Circle Pad'll be fine anyway.

Lololol true. They have like over 700+ 3D Pokemon models with unique animations etc. and Sakurai says there's limitations.

I think they're trying to speed up development.

Aww yeah 3DS Smash is going to be fantastic. I was thinking that the 3DS version would have male trainer and female villager too, but this is still quite awesome. My outlines will be on max at all times.

I mean, there's going to be limitations in regards to how much can be active on the screen at once, how detailed textures can look and such. But since he unveiled Olimar most of those concerns should get thrown out the window. If Ice Climbers gets cut I'll eat crow on this, but anyone who thinks the 3DS version is going to hold back both at this point is just being silly.

I don't get it though. 3DS is at least Wii power level, right? So I don't get the issues since Brawl ran fine, or is this technically more advanced than Brawl?

It's gonna be fine, they've proven that so far.
Pls stahp warryeen gaf

You can't make a power comparison that easily. 3DS has a bit more overhead than the Wii did and the CPU is slower. The GPU is similar and a little better by having standard shader support but not actually 1:1 with the Wii's GPU. They're comparable, but not equal.

Smash just isn't a very intensive game, though. They can keep the gameplay equal across multiple platforms and throw as much visual refinement on top as they want because the core game isn't very resource demanding.

Definitely would not turn off the outlines. It was somewhat hard to follow the characters on the screen during trailers.

Well I will forgive you. :p

What you're referring to is the size of the cartridge, which is surely not what Sakurai was referring to when he said the 3DS has limitations. He meant the hardware had limitations.

The 3DS is roughly the same as the GCN/Wii with shaders, but it's CPU is a lot weaker than the GCN's and the Wii's. The CPU is a bottleneck for the 3DS in comparison to the GCN and the Wii.

At least this screenshot confirms that all characters will be the same per version and that the character models simply weren't ready for the 3DS version.

Glad to see this is cleared up.

Yeah, it kinda hinted that 3DS wouldn't release for couple of months after Wii U. I betacha.

I feel they want it out asap to help Wii U sales, that's all I guess.

I'm just getting a "rushed" feeling on this.

I hope not since I want them to take their own time with the games. They need to make sure that it would be soooo amazing.

Pokémon: The Origin (in addition to HGSS and B2W2) somewhat updates Red -- I wonder if that will shake Sakurai's decision on the Pokémon Trainer rep. If Red appears, I want him to have the slightly different The Origin outfit.

It would be nice to see someone else in addition though. Blue as Assist Trophy or N w/Zekrom/Reshiram as BG character
in N's Castle stage
would be excellent.
