Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

Been playing a few PSP games on the Vita and would love if they offered the ability to show original screen size. I'm not a fan of blowing up the image to Vita's resolution and layering in bi-linear filtering.

I wish that they would allow you to emulate PSP games at the Vita's native resolution. PPSSPP does it just fine on my less powerful Android tablet. Won't ever happen though... Why don't any of the big three give more options for emulated games? Vulnerability maybe?

You can manually adjust the resolution yourself for PSP games.

So it looks like atleast the PS4 version of Minecraft will be out come launch of the PS4. Im curious if they are planning a day, and date release for all three versions of the game. Having a date for it would be awesome, thats one of my only complaints about the indie side as most of the time it seems that dates just come up out of the blue.

I cant wait for Starbound, but who knows when it will come out. Just the PC version has taken quite along time. Kickbeat was announced for summer last year release, but is just now coming out in a few weeks.

I have not been able to get into a match in KZ:M A SINGLE TIME since the first night of the open beta.

Strange. Very rarely do I fail to get in to a game. Every now and then it will say something about me being kicked because of a connection error or something, but it's rare and when it does happen I can get in a match the very next time I try.

So much pessimism in Vita threads. It's like people are going out of their way to dismiss games that get announced for it :/

Yeah, you can tell some already have there minds made up. Without the huge "AAA" names, they will continue to dismiss.

But honestly, 98% of the time, I play my Vita in my house. WIth remote play, that is as good to me as basically anything. Just saying.

Goal posts are always moved when it comes to this console. People do it with the Wii U too and they'll probably end up doing it with the Xbone as well.

Indie games and ports that are perfectly fine on other platforms "don't count" on Vita (and similar consoles). If it got AAA game announcements, they wouldn't "count" for some other reason, too. Literally cannot win.

That's GAF, bro. Some people here really can't give the Vita a lick of credit, for whatever reason.

I guess they want to have a console to bully out of insecurity or validation or whatever.

About to pick up my Vita tonight. What games should I get?

I love games like Bastion, Uncharted (getting golden abyss through PS+), old school games like Final Fantasy 9 and games like Sly Cooper. I'm a big adventure game fan, I like having a big world to explore. NOT a big fan of puzzle games or sports games.

No CAPCOM, No EA, No Activision, No SEGA, No Squenix, No Namco, Nor Bandai, people buy consoles for that companies games, not for "John Smith" indie developer who made that 16 bit game in their house funded with kickstarter and nobody cares about and spend high profile console that can run Killzone Mercenary level games.

The ridiculously good retail lineup in the Vita's first year proves this. Whilst the Vita may not be getting loads of big retail titles now, it sure as hell was in the Vita's first year but people still didn't want to know even back then. They didn't want to know back then and if Sony went all guns blazing with big retail Vita game now those people still wouldn't want to know.

Even with huge triple A games people will dismiss it. KZ Mercs isnt enough, Tearaway isnt enough, nothing will be enough. So whatever, I will continue to enjoy my one of a kind experience with the Vita and the myopic haters can drink their own bile for all I care.

Oh come on, the people disappointed in the indies on vita aren't the same people praising them on other platforms. Not everyone enjoys indies to the same extent and a console needs a balance of both indies and "AAA" games (that aren't ports).

I enjoy the vita as much as the next guy in here but you can't not understand why some people aren't satisfied with what they saw at gamescom.

How about 2D side-scrolling game?

good, make sure you grab gravity rush and wipeout from ps+ too.
you should get as large a memory card as you can afford -- Gamestop has a good deal on 32gb cards going on now, you'll need it with ps+.

Games off the top of my head:
P4G if you like JRPGs.
Rayman origins is a phenomenal 2D platformer.
Guacamelee is a fantastic Metroidvania style game.
Super Stardust Delta is a great twin stick shooter.
Muramasa Rebirth is a 2D platformer hack and slash (almost an action game but without some of the depth -- think the Dishwasher games from XBL)
Dragon's Crown get's good word of mouth as a 2D brawler RPG (like the old Mystara Capcom D&D games)
Sly 4 is a pretty good Sly game, much like Sly 3 (I think I liked it better) but it's best, IMO, if you can use the cross save function with PS3 for some stuff.
Hotline Miami is fantastic (top down twitch action game, very oldschool...)
Most of the fighting game ports are fantastic, UMvC3 and DoA5+ are on sale this week for PS+
Stealth, Inc. is a good 2D puzzle platformer (not a straight puzzle game though)
Spelunky is coming next week.

Hey VitaCats. Got $22 on my PSN to use, anything in particular you guys are feeling I should buy/save for?
What I'm looking at right now:
- Super Stardust
- Stealth Inc
- Mutant Blobs Attack
- Metal Gear Solid HD Collection
- Jak and Daxter maybe? I heard a lot of bad things, I've just never played the series.

Just looking for suggestions, maybe there was a gem I missed. I'm up for most things, looking to get a lot of content mostly I guess. Thanks!
(Oh yeah PS I know you guys are really into Spelunky, it just isn't interesting me too much)

Looking at the current sales, I'm interested in DOA5+ and Guacamelee. Is there a good chance that these games will become part of the ICG in the near future? Since getting PS+ I've been hesitant in getting games due to fear that they'll be the only free game for Vita for a month.

So this is my first time having PS+, and I feel really giddy about how many free games there are for me to download right now. It's almost overwhelming! There are a few games on sale (some not) through PS+ that I am mulling over which I want to spend my $20 on like Muramasa or Sound Shapes as well. On top of that, I'm downloading the Killzone Beta and Gravity Rush. The sizeable PSP library is also quite tempting since I skipped out on the majority of that handheld's life cycle.

You can probably tell that I'm feeling really good about buying this Vita bundle right about now!

They said Muramasa is a little repetitive, you have to backtrack quite a lot. But I haven't played the game, is only available in the US. I didn't know anything about Sound Shapes.

If I've followed some of the recent discussion properly:

1) FM2014 Classic was Shahid's big game
2) Some people are upset with that

Did I miss something official from Shahid that pointed this out? Regardless, FM2014 is a megawin for the Vita; totally unexpected after some of the answers that came when people queried why FMH wasn't coming as a native Vita title. I'm not sure if some of the disappointment is from AmericanGAF but I've never seen my Vita owning friends more excited about a title and my jaw certainly dropped at the news.

I guess its going to be about twenty years before we move the kids out of the house and I get some freetime at home again so I'd given up any hope of properly playing FM forever. Now? Conference to Champions League in ten seasons here I come again!

I don't like Football so much, but i'm happy if you enjoy it. I know i won't like every game in the platform. Although I was a little disapointed. Not angry, but disapointed.

Well, let's change the subject. There are some new Vitabros here so they need a warm welcome! If we start discussing about the Vita doomed thing we will scare them!

So welcome new Vitabros. Seems the Walmart deal was huge.

Would not count because then people would bitch that the game should be a PS4 game.

Truth is outside of maybe Bastion, Mark of the Ninja, and a few WRPGs (other then Borderlands) just about every game I really wanted on Vita was announced yesterday, and few awesome looking surprises like HellDivers. Ill admit though that in my case when Sony said console quality on the go, what I really wanted to begin with was PSN games more then the stuff like Skyrim.

In some cases it could work well, I could see BL2 being good for quick burst gaming. I largely just feel that I find allot more time to spend on stuff like Hotline, Stealth Inc, Rogue Legacy etc on a handheld. Stuff like GOW, Uncharted, and the like I would rather have on my big screen.

Spel- DAMMIT.

Well first of all - DO NOT GET JAK AND DAXTER COLLECTION.

I have it and the first game runs decently well, but oh my GOD Jak 2 and 3 suck. I made a long post about it here.

Super Stardust is absolutely fantastic, get that for sure. Have you played Hotline Miami? If not get that too, absolutely awesome game. Mutant Blogs is on sale for like $2 right now isn't it? Good game, no reason not to get it at that price.

Metal Gear Solid HD Collection on Vita is a very good port too. I Recommend that, especially if you haven't played them before.

Ahh thank you for saving me from Jak and Daxter haha and of course I played Hotline Miami! Great game. Just discovered Super Stardust and it looks like a blast. No clue how it flew under my radar. Never played ANY MGS game so I kinda wanted to give it a try.

Does Super Stardust + MGS collection work then? Or does that go above what's in your PSN wallet?

I opened up the port range that Guerilla suggested in a forum post, and I restarted my Vita and first try it worked. I hope this is an indication that the problem is fixed.
