Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

I have to admit, if Minecraft is coming out this year ( supposed to be a launch title) im kind of surprised there is no media for it yet. I really want to see what we are getting with the Vita version of the game, and im really hoping for some type of cross functionality between the PS4, and Vita versions at least.

Has anyone ask Notch about wether the Vita version is proper MC, or the mobile version?

Half of those were ports of PSP games.

edit: welp

I don't consider HD remakes of Minis ports either, but that's just me. Redone graphics, addition of trophies, and I'm sure there are probably some other tweaks that I'm forgetting. :P

However, I edited because my original intention was focused on Spelunky being a "port".

So... what makes Spelunky good?

I hear about this game all the time, but all I know of it is just screens and some video and it didn't stand out to me.
I guess the same was true of VVVVVV and I ended up loving that.

It's a quality/challenging 2D platfformer of sorts with all sorts of old school influences.
I have no idea how you can't be interested in it, dallow.

Didn't you buy that Patton game? :P

Have a bad feeling 16gb isn't going to be big enough for me eventually. Have plenty of room left on it but I know I have a few PS+ games that I moved off to save some space. Guess putting a 32gb memory card on my list of things to look out for on black friday isn't a bad thing.

Definitely a good feeling to think that there are about half a dozen retail Vita games that I'm interested in as well as some indy games. Definitely feeling great about the next few months of Vita goodness.

Also I've watched LethalFrag play Spelunky a few nights recently and it looks fun but challenging. I know how frustrated I get with really dumb stuff in games so that is a worry to me :(

I just saw Gran Turismo PSP for dirt cheap on the PSN store..

is that game any good..? and how does it look and play on Vita.?

Yeah, it looks like it hits all the right notes for the kind of games I like. There's so many out there now. I will likely pick this up.

And yeah, but Patton is still sealed. :)
No time!

I was tempted by that too so I watched some old reviews and gameplay videos (running on vita) to make my mind up.

It didn't review well. I'd have bought it but there's no single player campaign it seems... That slow grind that you love about GT games isn't there.

Also, you can only buy cars from a select 4 manufacturers every calendar day which I'd imagine to be incredibly frustrating.

Most said the cars handled really well but the AI was shithouse: computer cars follow rails.

Those are all ports.

Every week that doesn't see a potentially multi-million selling AAA exclusive GOTY contender system seller isn't a bad week. Spelunky is cool... the other games will be worth a look if money's burning a hole in your pocket next week.

The only exclusives that have come out this year on PS3 have been Last of Us and GoW Ascension. The rest have been ports and multiplatform titles. It looks like last year was Starhawk, Tokyo Jungle, Journey, Unfinished Swan, Hot Shots 6 & Twisted Metal. Trend is about the same on all systems, every year. A handful of exclusives in a year is ok.

I'm dying for Spelunky. I've been waiting so long. I will even watch streams of it on Twitch to scratch the itch, but I need it for myself. It's going to be so perfect on Vita.

Is Stealth Inc. for PS+ PS3 only or does it include the Vita version aswell? I will be a bit more hesitant in the future about buying games at launch if they can end up so fast in the PS+ service.

Yes. It affects every physical copies of games.

It is just that the carts save a little bit of the previous user's info on them, so when you buy a used game, if a message pops up, just delete the game bubble and reinsert it to remove the previous user's info.
Thanks for this. Just noticed I had several game icons that didn't allow trophies. Reset the data on them and they're working again.

Kind of unhappy they implemented this system. One of the nicest features about vita carts that I liked was that patches and update data are saved directly to the cart. So unlike disc based games on the PS3, if your console ever goes kaput, the game itself would be permanently updated for use on any other vita. Or so I thought - apparently resetting the save also deletes update data and resets the game back to version 1.00

Why I care - games like Zero no Kiseki Evolution had game-breaking freezing bugs that rendered it unplayable at launch. A patch came out which fixed everything and I figured as long as I bought a copy and updated it, it would be perfectly playable forever. If the update server for that game ever goes down/I have no wifi then this becomes a problem. It seems it not only applies for used games, but also if I switch between my US/JP accounts since the system formats itself each time, and when I format back they're disabled again.

Is Hotline Miami cross-buy? I know it says it is on websites, but when viewing the game on PSN it doesn't mention it, saying its only compatible with PSV. Maybe I am missing something?

Pre-ordered Killzone, Rayman Legends and Tearaway for 70£ from Amazon. :3 I opted for the Super Saver FREEEEEEE delivery so I won't be getting any of the games until probably early December. :S

Finally beat Persona 4 Golden last night. Felt good. One of the couple of Vita games I've actually finished along with Senran Kagura. Excellent, excellent RPG.

just picked up Muramasa and the MGS HD collection! gonna buy the first metal gear solid on the webstore and transfer it to my vita via my friends ps3. Last i checked that still worked.

It's the variety and the difficulty of your runs. It's a simple game to play but also extremely hard to master. The learning curve is similar to dark souls in that you will try and fail hundreds of times, but most deaths can be traced back to one or mistakes that you will hopefully learn from.

The randomized levels keep the game extremely fresh even after 345 deaths.

...You only needed to max Marie's Social Link.

For shame good sir, FOR SHAME!

:<

Yesterday, laughing. Today, shame. Is there nothing I can do?

you don't need to max all SLs to get golden ending

Fair enough. Besides, I'm going to play it again at some point
(at some point..)
and do a 100% playthrough to get all the SLs, there were a few I missed out on that I wanted to get.

I should look to what game next to finish on Vita. I was thinking I should probably clear Gravity Rush off the backlog, since I've had that game for over a year now without finishing it. I think I've only got a few chapters left, and some of the DLC, as well.

looks kind of like a roguey version of Rick Dangerous. And for that reason - I'm in.

were there any comments from people at gamescom testing the Remote play with the PS4?
I am really counting on that feature and hope it wont disappoint.

Morning Vitabros and Vitaladies (Do we have any?)

So...... Im making a big step tonight....

I'll be loaning my PS3 to my girlfriend... Frankly, I just don't play it anymore... I have no time for it in my schedule. I'll still be buying games for it though and I will go back to finish my massively heartbreaking backlog one day in life..

I play my Vita more than anything now. I believe it will allow me to focus on finishing those titles without a sense of guilt to an abandoned home system. Lol.

Im transforming into a handheld gamer!!! (Esp with a 3DS purchase coming up for PKMN)

What's cool though is she gets to enjoy all my PS+ and Crossbuy titles so we'll be setting it up later on tonight for her. It'll also buy me some time to grab her Vita as well!!

I can't wait to play Divekick with her. I feel like she's gonna love it.

What makes Spelunky great?

When you die 200 times just to make it to the mother ship and die from a jump jet by your own shotgun without firing a bullet and hit-stun-locked. That was a great one.
