Vita PSN Game & Service Thread | August 2013 | Divekicks & Dragons

After finishing both Persona 4 and Xillia faster then I expected. I decided to buy some Vita PSN games to hold me off until GTA drops. I was thinking if either Hotline Miami or Guacamelee. What do you guys think? You can recommend other things too.

I'd suggest Guacamelee over Hotline Miami. Hotline Miami is more of an action puzzler though, so if you're into that then go for it.

they're both great, but completely different. i'd suggest guacamelee solely because it's on sale.

The sheer number of Vita announcements this week is boggling my mind. I love it.

Hotline Miami. It's so damned good and almost feels like it was made for the Vita.

Guacamelee is cool, but it's no Hotline Miami.

They are both really short though, maybe something longer would be better.

Well, for me Hotline Miami is a less meaty and satisfying game compared with Guacamelee. I know I gave it shit when it was first released on PC for being shallow and despite that I really enjoyed it on the Vita... it's just not as good as Guacamelee in my rankings.

I mean, the music is better, but just slightly.

...but the satisfaction in beating a level with only the drill

pretty hard to top that

What kind Of game is spelunky? I just suggested those two since I always hear how great they are on GAF. They both support cross buy right? I wouldn't mind something longer either if these two are really short.

You'll get some good mileage out of both titles for their price. I believe Guacamelee took me about 8 hours without getting all the collectibles.

I'm not 100% sure about Hotline Miami but I believe they both do.

It took me around 8 hours with getting all the collectables :P
But yeah, it is decently sized. It also has hardmode unlocked post-game and leaderboards for speedruns if you're into that sort of thing.

What's everybody's haul after the recent sales?
My Vita now looks like this:

Thiniking of adding Guacamelee to the list, now I just need time to play all these games!

it's a randomly generated, side-scrolling platformer where you collect loot, purchase/find/steal upgrades and rescue damsels that net you extra health

its 6 worlds with 4 levels each. game is very hard but ridiculously fun. music and art style is fantastic. tons of unlockable characters

NLKS icon looks so adorable it makes me want to buy it.

Thankfully I know better.

Nothing for me as it was US only :(

Great scores though! And I'd recommend Guacamelee if you like Metroidvania type games and have the money, it's a really fantastic title.

"Look at me, I'm Tsunamo and I'm a badass!"
I try my best :3
I only have a few chests and the orbs to do to actually get all the collectibles.
Ah I see. The last few took me awhile to find, a couple of them are hidden in really obscure places on the map.

RadarScope - There is a thread about it somewhere. Im on the vita right now so no copy/paste. Needs copy/paste.

Also, its pretty freakin lame that I can do everything in the main menu with buttons but I still have to swipe my sweaty, greezy, finger across the damn thing to start it.
Did a GAF search and only came up one thread about impressions of the stage demo. Google search turned up nothing. If there's another thread I'm missing I'd love and assist!

Really? No impressions from the press? Do they not get to go to the show floor until today? What's the deal here?

Only bought Guacamelee, which is pretty great so far. Just didn't see the need for any of those as I have or would buy superior versions of each on other consoles. Good sale for anyone that wants fighters on handhelds, or is in desperate want of Katamari portable, but eh...just not the Vita experiences I really crave.

I do recommend Muramasa highly though. One of the most surprisingly enjoyable Vita games I played last month.

Who's making the Spelunky OP?

I want to it have shiny, magical pictures

and be done in a nifty font

The OT for the XBLA release is actually really great. Good OP and lots of great discussion. Not sure if a new one for PSN is necessary because its the very same game, but hey, why not?

In the meantime, anyone with questions about Spelunky should check out this thread, though.

definitely some pretty pictures. i do think you could easily get away with a new OT based on the the co-op between vita and PS3 not requiring you to stay on the same screen

The Walking Dead is getting jankier as it goes along hah. More stutters and frame drops. On episode 4 now though, so it is perfectly playable.

Right on the edge of getting Muramasa...is there still DLC planned for it?

Also just went from a 8gb to 32gb and was surprised to find that of my downloads got stuck in preparing when I had to queue like 20 games. Although it did happen when I downloaded the open me trial this morning.

Decided to go back to my psp today after more than 1.5 yrs, after deciding there were one or two games i couldnt play because they arent on the psn store

NHL
Gran Turismo
GTA
Star Wars BattleFront
Mortal Kombat 1-3 (midway classics)
God of War ghosts of sparta
Megaman
Kingdom Hearts
Castle Vania
Mortal kombat unchained

I cant believe i nearly sold this, dont think ill bother with the movie umds much though

Oh boy what a choice, i missed it

Anyone play Zen pinball here? Anyone, lol? The Star Wars tables are insanely good.

I played some of the Episode V table and was kinda disappointed. After playing a lot of Pinball Arcade everything just feels too floaty. The physics don't feel right, and that specific table didn't have the kind of ramps that I'd want.

I'll try the other tables tonight.

Anyone ever play DJMax Technika Tune? Ive had the game since it released and no one on my friends list has played it and I don't think Ive ever even heard anyone talk about it.

Anyhow, I like music/rhythm game. This one is cool but hard for me to get use to with the touch screen stuff....

I did a little video. pretty crappy since its a camera video and my hand is all up in the mix.

I think the game looks really good and I want it, but it's been full price on the PS store for so damn long now that I'm afraid I'd drop $45 on it and then it would go on sale the next week or something.

It's definitely due for a sale of some kind and I only buy my Vita games digitally.

Yep.

I'm guessing Bend are either doing a Vita/PS4 cross-buy game, or a big Vita game and a smaller PS4 downloadable title. I don't know which is more likely; I know they're a smaller team..

I guess they are doing something like Uncarded for PS4 and a "proper" game to the PSVita. And Guerrilla Cambridge (another team that was said to be working in PS4) is probably giving some help to main GG for KZ or their rumored new IP.

I'm such an idiot, I didn't even look at the games when I was in the store.

I'll pick up something tomorrow. Likely P4G, it's a major reason I got a Vita, but I also really want Dragons Crown. Tonight I'm still just downloading all the Plus free games and random cross buy PSN purchases I made in the past. I know everyone says this but...HOLY SHIT at having a Vita and PS+. This almost seems unfair lol.

One oddity, my Walking Dead download code doesn't work.

Yea PS+ is crazy, especially across PS3 and Vita, including PS4 its gonna be crazy value.
And damn thats weird... have you tried calling Sony support?
