GOG News and Updates 2013

Plus there is no pile of money with NOLF.

If the gog wishlist is anything to go by, at least 10k+ people want to shell out a few bucks for it (25th in the list, 26th being NOLF: GOTYE). It's not Grim Fandango large, but it's still a fair pile of cash I'd bet. I mean No One Lives Forever literally only needs a new installer and proper widescreen support and it's set.

I'm pretty sure that Grim Fandango was wholly owned by Lucasarts so Disney should own it now. We're only waiting for some upper manager to figure out that they're sitting on a pile of money and we'll have it.

No One Lives Forever, on the other hand, really is in licensing hell.

It'd still be fantastic news, hope they bring it on top of Full Throttle which they were already rumored to be looking into:

Way too many indie releases these past couple months, IMO, and not enough classics.

I really hope GOG can get those highly sought games from their wishlist onto the site at some point.

I understand they're trying to position themselves for the future when the pre-2000s games they are able to secure and sell start to run out and fall into licensing hell.

Fuuuuuck gog.com isn't accepting my card AGAIN.
Anyone want to trade Night of the Rabbit with $10 worth of Steam games please?

Call your bank, they are probably blocking international transactions. You can have them remove the block from your account.

Paypal doesn't work with me sadly, I have tried before.
My bank says there are no blocks or the like and to check with gog...

Hammerwatch. Is this the game that was being touted as a Gauntlet-alike a little while back?

Also, yet again, Witcher games on sale.

Edit: OOOH. No news post yet, but the headline is up... just added: Thunderscape. Suspicions were correct! SSI!

Oh god, I hope it's not some stupid restrictive licensing thing and they get all the SSI RPGs. I'd kill for the classic codewheel era of Pool of Radiance, Secret of the Silver Blades etc.

Fan those flames! Fan, fan!
Honestly, when I first saw the photo I only suspected that they actually went there to "chat" (non-suspiciously) and get their copy of GF signed.

It wouldn't surprise me if their current deal for their existing D&D titles doesn't automatically extend to the AD&D SSI titles, but on the bright side they already have an existing relationship on that front so they ought to be able to renegotiate without too much hassle.

Just as long, I guess, that WOTC are satisfied with their performance with the D&D titles.

I had forgotten that GOG had Panzer General already -- I guess they had SSI all along. But not the RPG goodness of SSI. Here's hoping Thunderscape is the start of something great!

Entomorph confirmed as on the way:

GoG Forums said:
Hi everyone! Kyoudai Games is very happy and proud to be working with GOG to bring you Thunderscape, and Entomorph is in fact in the works.

Also, there is a copy of the strategy guide in hand we are working to get it to GOG ASAP.

I guess the rights to the World of Aden setting (which Thunderscape and Endomorph use) was obtained in this Kickstarter, so I wouldn't get any hopes up about them getting SSI's D&D games.

I've never played Thunderscape, any good? Looks pretty awesome.

Not really. My limited memories are that if kinda fails to achieve what it wanted to do (and that those goals were pretty unambitious) and wasn't good looking even for the time. I had quite a bit more fun with Entomorph as a sort of mid-level Zelda knockoff.

If GOG really wants to tickle my SSI-nostalgia they need to get The Summoning.

Ooooh Reus' is on sale again!
*Tries to buy with card hoping issue is resolved*
"Your bank has declined your payment attempt"
=_=
I'll try to get this resolved come Sunday...

Nice- I really must play King of Dragon Pass some time, I bought it when it was on sale a while ago and haven't touched it.

Anyone have any thoughts on Reus? Reviews seem a bit mixed.

The all stars there are:

FTL: I'm pretty sure everyone is familiar with this by now. Great starship combat roguelike.
Age of Wonders Shadow Magic: The closest anyone has ever come to making a proper follow up to Master of Magic. Personally I like it better then MoM.
Nexus: Absolutely fantastic fleet combat game. Deep gameplay, great ship customization, great graphics. I love this game a lot and was crushed when the kickstarter for the sequel failed.

If you call your bank back you can have them look up the transaction and see exactly why it failed. It could also be because some banks don't like issuing transactions to Cyprus.

On the front page I think games like Papers, Please, Spelunky and Divinity should be highlighted.

Also the Penumbra collection definitely should be just for Black Plague, the proto Amnesia.

Also how is the story in The Jupiter Incident?

It is kind of space opera where you reach certain place something happens and you are in different place traversing galaxy. Something like homeworld but you are not alone out there.
It is really good and plays more like old Star Trek Klingon Academy rather than Homeworld.
Terrific idea in that game are missions in which some tasks can be done or not depending what you will choose first.

GFX is still good.

I also am bummed by N2 failing kickstarter but i with 3 updates in first 25 days i expected that. He already got half of the money with more updates he would meet in without problems. He should reluaunch KS...

Talked to them but no dice, they don't see an issue from their end either =/

Fucking Wing Commander Academy. Bought it last night. No idea if it's good but I love the series. Has anyone played this? I understand there is a mission creator.
