Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

I wish he would. :(

I really hope he comes back, he's the only character in which I can't have much faith in returning. /:

The only thing that helps is the "Forbidden 7" thing, and the fact that Sakurai said he doesn't want to cut people out, because he knows a character has a fandom.

I wanted him to return just so he can be in this badass redesign in full 3D

Yesss. Its truly amazing, I would really love to see Roy in this outfit in Smash 4.

the artist who made this redesign, made the art for the last story, which is why it so badass

Original Boxart Marth or bust.

I wonder if Marth gets upskirted

I want to ask why, no malice. Just wanna know why, what you aren't into.

I think he looks great, but its always nice to have perspective.

He looks kinda angsty. His demeanor reminds me of a lot of Sonic fan art in that regard. He also looks a lot more feminine. His character isn't really like that in the newest game is it? The armor design is pretty nice though.

roy always had a feminine design, awakening DLC stuff has it where several artists redeisgned key fire emblem characters, this was roy's redesign, he happen to have the same artist responsible for the last story's art

What do you mean by angsty, all he is standing there. Smiling a bit.

That seems like a description you make after some characterization, really. But interesting to read your thoughts.

Maybe it's just me, but is anyone else at the point where they are less concerned about the newcomers and more interested in who's coming back? Brawl's roster was close to perfect for me. The only major character I really wanted that didn't show up -- Megaman -- is now playable. Villager, despite not being one of my favorite characters per se, represents one of my favorite Nintendo series of all time. No other character left in Nintendo's library will illicit chills down my spine the way much of the cast has already. Maybe that is for the best. Being less concerned with the characters themselves help me to appreciate their playstyle beyond just the cult of personality. The only thing that would truly disappoint me at this point is the removal of Sonic the Hedgehog, if only because having Mario, Sonic and Megaman in a special Event Match would be the fulfillment of thousands of little kids' dreams from the 90's (myself included).

He was just one of the old lords they redesigned for DLC, at least he isn't a robot with a sword arm like Ike.

Roy won't be back anyway so you're good.

i'm on team #fucknewcomers too

I'm interested to see if they revive any old characters and how they will look. I think Takamaru would be cool to see in that regard.

But yeah, Brawl's lineup already nails most of the big stuff.

I'm not getting a just standing there smiling feel, what he's doing is more of a smirk and slouching. Looks very "I'm such a badass."

Oh well.

I'm more concerned with returning characters since I really want almost all of them returning, especially Sonic and Snake. At same time, I have a bad feeling that more than 4 characters would get cut. However I still want to have more newcomers because I want to see what Sakurai can do with new characters. Can he add more archetype that would work so different from other characters? Yeah, it's tough to see what we really want until we have the final product on our hand and judge accordingly.

Trust me, I still want new characters too. At this point, however, I'm just not invested in certain characters the same way in past titles. Bring back the Brawl veterans plus Mewtwo, and I'm set. If anything it is the stages I'm most excited about. Sin and Punishment: Star Successor and Metroid Prime 3 stage need to happen.

It's hard to be excited for new characters when brawl had everything! I think it's honestly the reason why the original dojo was such a hype fest!

I like Lucina, BTW, but I don't see her being a choice before Chrom or even Robin. Seriously, have people considered Robin a.k.a. the Avatar? Considering Villager and Wii Fit Trainer made it in, I don't think the customizable FE character is too far-fetched an option.
Robin would be awesome, but considering he/she comes in six different sizes, surely it'd be awkward to implement hit boxes and the like?

It'd be funny if the rumor was one day off and we get ZSS tomorrow.

I'm gonna bet it's gonna feature Olimar, since we haven't got anything of him in a bit it seems. Maybe showing off possible new Pink or Rock Pikmin?

Can't agree at all. Half the fun of Smash is seeing who the next unsung hero is and I respect Sakurai for at least committing himself to pulling surprises out of givens. You anti-newcomer types mystify me. :lol

Still pullin' for my main man Leif. Entirely because FE5 was my first FE game and him being able to use every weapon type in FE4 makes it seem like he could be interesting.

That said, I would be very, very surprised if he appeared more than just as the white costume for Marth like before, where they don't even bother giving Marth brown hair to complete the look.

Any potential 3rd FE rep has to be female, though, right? Seriously, Chrom, Ike, and Marth would not make me happy.

Sin and Punishment: Star Successor and Metroid Prime 3 stage need to happen.
I can't decide which Metroid Prime 3 area I'd most want as a stage; Bryyo, Elysia, and the Valhalla are all amazing and have good stage potential.

But if I could choose any Metroid stage, Metroid Prime 2's Sanctuary Fortress reigns supreme as the best level in the franchise.

I'm more interested in newer characters and would totally be ok if certain characters don't make it back even if I'd like to see again. I think the fact the roster is pretty well rounded makes it even more exciting to see who Sakurai will add next and what they will bring to the game. Mega Man, WFT, and Villager all look great and here's hoping the trend continues. Saying that, I've been keeping my expectations for newer characters in check this time lol.

im actually worried sakurai doesnt consider games like xenoblade, the last story, and pandoras towers as "nintendo games" and for that, doesnt even become a thought in his mind to even think about adding any representation from these games, or we may not be making enough noise for these games so they may go forgotten by sakurai, and it will be all our fault for not shoving it in his face more often

Ummm... wasn't the Roy picture being discussed? It is from Awakening DLC, and it is yucky.

um yes, but thats not the artstyle of awakening, thats the artist own interpretation, and its not yucky, its beautiful, each DLC character got their own drawn interpretation, which is why ike looks like he has a sword for an arm

Whatever you choose to call the character designs in Awakening is irrelevant. It is the worst part of the game IMO.

And Marth's DLC design "interpretation" is shoehorned to fit the narrative of the game. Truly awful. You can't even tell who has the vag or peen.
