Puppeteer EU Demo Thread

Oh.

Nah man, I have every intention to play Virtue's last reward which sits comfortably in my PSN account. You might not remember me from the thread but 999 is one of my favorite games of this generation.

And I hope you both got me wrong. It's not the pun, it's the VA which is dreadful (in English at least).

Proceed and judge for yourself: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9G-JNbTtnk&feature=player_detailpage#t=256

No.....I don’t remember you. : ( But hey, you love 999 so you’re good in my book.

And the cat puns are not common in Virtue’s Last Reward – you’re gonna love it!

+5GB for a tiny demo! I loved it, but damn they need to stop offering the whole game and limiting it to demo usage.

Gavin explained a bit earlier that the demo isn't the whole game. The big file size is due to the different languages.

And to be honest, i kind of agree with the voice acting on the cat. It's the only thing in the demo that annoyed me a bit. There's something in the cat's voice that bordered on being ever so slightly irritating. It's not the words but the way it's voiced. It's hard to explain. And i would probably not have noticed if i hadn't replayed the demo so often. So it's definately not an issue for me. The rest of the voice acting is superb by the way.

Oh wow, what a wonderful game.

Loved the demo and will defiantly be picking it up ( if only it was sooner and not so close to K:M and GTA V :( )

I assume it's probably best to get it from PSN store, since amazon has the release date as the 13th and its the same price. Game don't even have it.

Sorry not sure on the US PSN pricing. Although the game really is a steal at $39:99.
I know here in Japan that it is a little cheaper on PSN than at retail.

Also remember if you do preorder then you get the amazing sound track by Patrick Doyle. The music in Puppeteer is a master piece and he was an inspiration to work with.

Does that apply to the physical version? And or is it limited to buying it at specific outlets?

Oh man, the soundtrack is so good. The main theme of the Moon Bear King (or at least I presume it's his main theme, it plays whenever he appears and all throughout his tower) is making me feel nostalgic for dark childhood fantasy stories, the kind that scared the hell out of me as a kid but had me glued to every word. Like the book "James and the Giant Peach," the way they described the cloud men, how cold it was in the sky and the sense of danger to the proceedings. Love it!

Was the demo not supposed to be unlocked for non-PS+ members on the EU store today? I was wanting to try it out myself. The Japanese demo is wayyyyy too short.

First review for Puppeteer is in. Famitsu - 36/40 9/9/9/9.

I know, Famitsu is dogshit. But hey, you take what you can get at this stage.

Demo is up now for everyone. For the uninitiated, if you're not in Europe you can still easily make a separate EU account on PSN and play it.

Thanks for the heads up, but as much as I want the game, IÂ’ll pass. Seeing a video of it completely sold me and I canÂ’t afford to use so many gigs.

Just played the demo, and...wow. This is one of the best looking games I've EVER seen. It's unbelievable. It plays great too, and I can't wait to delve deeper into the full game.

Any translation available of the four reviewers' comments?

Not to my knowledge dude. To be honest, you really don't want to pay much heed to whatever Famitsu say anyway; they're in the pocket of every damn publisher out there. And if they aren't then they might as well be.

I'm currently playing Rayman Legends (which is an awesome game) and i've deleted the Puppeteer demo since i knew it wasn't the full game and because i don't want to play the demo too much. But i can't stop thinking about Puppeteer and i can't wait to continue the journey and see what's next. I barely watched any footage so i have no clue how the game will look like and play after the tutorial stages. I have a feeling it's going to be a special game though.

I'm curious how it will be received by the gaming press and the gamers. Judging by the demo, it definately seems to be a different kind of game compared to Rayman. And i think that is great (i love the Rayman games btw).

The graphics and animation are out of this world. You can tell how much care went into every single frame.
Considering how the backgounds are constantly changing I can't even begin to imagine how many assets were created for this game if it's indeed 10+ hours long. Considering the level of detail on display it's truly mindblowing.
The lighting is incredible, the art direction is superb, major kudos to everyone involved in creating this masterpiece.

Mr. Moore, if you are reading this, you should be proud. I'm sure your son is.

Hi There,
Thanks for playing the demo and thank you for the praise.
Myself and the team really hope that you enjoy the game and have a lot of fun.
That is the most important thing for us.

Let me ask you this, Gavin. Does the game encourage replayability? Time trials, speed runs, new game+, anything like that? A follow-up being: can you select certain sections to replay?

Thank you.

Quick question if you dont mind me asking how long the game in development?

Also Does the game have Easter eggs? or heads :P

Well, I found getting the platinum trophy extremely difficult.
I am really proud of the VO in the game. We spent a long time making sure that not only the translation was as accurate as could be but also the quality of the acting was excellent across all languages.

Did you end up voicing the witch? Remember when you asked around on the PS blog after doing the trailer.

Hope your game is successful, we need more like it. Unfortunately my PS3 has been dead for quite some time. Conflicted whether I should purchase it anyway to play at my brother but then I didn't even finish TLOU that way.

Really wish this would also be on Vita :/

Unfortunatly after listening to my voice for a full year, which was driving me slowly mad, we decided that using professional voice actors was the way to go. Best descision I ever made. Although I do have a cameo in the game but I'm not telling which part :) It is all very Hitchcock.

Thank you.

There are 7 Acts in Puppeteer and each has 3 curtains (stages).
Once you have unlocked each act and curtain you can go back and play them anytime you like.

Infact you will have to replay them to find all the secrets and all the heads.

There are no speed runs (because I am rubbish at them) but just trying to get all the trophies is going to mean a lot of replaying of levels. No... I'm not telling what the trophies are.

I hope you enjoy the game.

Was interested in getting this as I have seen nothing on it but 5.7gb is over 10% of my monthly data cap.

First world problems etc etc

Man where is the USA demo, come on. I want to play this shit so bad it hurts :(

Gavin: 21 stages is not actually that long for a platformer... how long does a typical stage take to complete?

Edit: Not that this is a big problem, considering the game is $39.99. :D

I'm pretty sure I'll have a blast with it. I like great games so there shouldn't be a problem :)

Someone already asked and I'm curious as well. How long did it take to create this game and roughly how many people worked on it? Can you share these details?

I hope this has the success it deserves.
