Puppeteer EU Demo Thread

Yes, you can. You have to go into a menu and choose "skip".

The story bits are great though. Not something i would want to skip personally.

Well, I won't skip them the first time through. But after that, I'm sure I would want to. Just making sure I could.

It has local co-op and its a lot of fun:) Especially when you are pulling off your friends head.

Gavin Moore as in creative director on Puppeteer? In that case, welcome and great to see you here!

There are a few issues with the demo that i'd like to give feedback on (and that might get fixed?):
- the buy option doesn't work in the EU demo. It takes me to an empty page on the old PSN store (not a big problem since there are other ways to buy but still...)
- quite a few people are put off trying the demo due to the big file size (nearly 6 Gb). I assume that this is the full game we're downloading? Any possibility in bringing a smaller (in filesize, not content) demo?

In any case, judging by the demo, you should be very proud of what your team (Japan studio) has achieved with this game. It's just magical. If the rest of the game remains as good (or even better?), then the game will be amazing!

If you're gonna buy something from PSN Store, do it through the website-

Also where's my US PSN pre-order, and if I buy the unlock via US PSN, will it work if I have the demo dled from EU PSN?

found out about the local coop on the menu screen...unexpected, awesome surprise!
the demo itself looked amazing, the theater atmosphere with the crowd gasping and cheering was really cool.

i know where my next available 40€ will go.

The EU Demo is great, just played it yesterday in local coop with my girl friend.

Awesome art design, fluent gameplay and likeable narration (so far).

Yes,

I am that Gavin.

Thanks for the heads up about the buy option. I contacted Europe and they will look into it. Appreciate the feedback.

Sorry about the demo size. The demo is huge because it contains all European languages. So if you would like to play it in another language you can, just switch your system language to your preferred choice. Just be careful because switching back to english can be difficult if you can't read the language you have set. I know because I have done it. I like playing it it Russian personally, it sounds regal.

To everyone out there who downloaded the demo. Thank you very much for trying Puppeteer. We tried very hard to make something creative and fun. I personally really appreciate your support. Thank you.

Gavin.

Your US PSN pre-order will download on the 10th of September. I think it should do that automatically. Machines are scary things.

The EU demo is not the full game, so no need to unlock. Sorry about the file size. As I mentioned in a previous post, the demo contains all EU languages, full voice over. That is why it is so big. Sorry.

Game looks amazing, Gavin. You seem like a great and passionate guy in your interviews and demos which gets me excited for the game. I can't wait to play it!

I only wish the demo was in the US!

Getting this day 1. Haven't been this hyped for a platformer since the original LittleBigPlanet and Mario Galaxy 2.

Puppeteer has the same sort of "magic" in its charming artistic design as those titles, IMHO.

Glad to see you around, Gavin. Hope the game receives glowing reviews and sales so that your next project (hopefully on PS4) can be just as ambitious.

Given what I've seen, Sony deserves to give you all the necessary resources at your disposal to make more titles like this. Not enough games like this get made anymore, especially with the level of production values your team has put into this.

I love you for making this game happen :). Too few big 2D platformer releases nowdays (tho we really are gettin treated with Puppeteer, Legends within weeks!).

Any hints how difficult platinum trophy will be?

Also surprised at how good the finnish dub was in the demo :lol. I hope it finds long term success like Sly does over here.

The demo looks excellent. It's clearly the tutorial stage -- I know the levels get harder later on because I recall seeing footage of an underwater level that played just like one of the mine cart stages from DKCR, speed and difficulty included. That's great, indeed. And what's nice in this demo is you can roll -- I wasn't aware of this basic mechanic, but it seems quite quick and nimble and should make for some snappy dodging amidst all of the scissor combat. :)

The presentation is incredible.

This really can’t be said enough! :)

Woah it's bigger? Gonna cancel the download I did on my PS3 haha.
So the digital ver. of puppeteer won't be up until 2 weeks from now? No worries, I'll have some cash saved up til then~

I believe it should be available from the 28th (Wednesday). Then again I get confused. Damn you time zones.

No you are correct, 28 Aug. is Wedensday, EU Store updates on that day.
What'll the US PSN price be if you don't mind me asking? (and do us plus members get a discount!)

I thought the demo was the full game (due to the size) and changed my pre-order to digital instead of a boxed version. If the demo is 6Gb, how big will the final download be? I haven't got that much room left on my hd. Which would mean that i need to cancel my psn pre-order again. Hmm...

That all depends on which version you download and how many languages are in each version. Off the top of my head...

UK version 5.5 gigs
Japanese version 5.5 gigs
US version 7 gigs
EU version 11 gigs.

These really are off the top of my head, so please don't blame me if the actual download sizes come in slightly different from the numbers quoted above.

Woah any reason why US ver. is bigger? IS it because it has French and Spanish dialog as well?
EDIT: Also sorry for bombarding you with so many questions =X

Well, I found getting the platinum trophy extremely difficult.
I am really proud of the VO in the game. We spent a long time making sure that not only the translation was as accurate as could be but also the quality of the acting was excellent across all languages.

I think it's amazing that they got Patrick Doyle to write the score for this game. He's been one of my favorite film composers for many years now. And what little I've heard of Puppeteer's music sounds like it's up there with his best work.

I agree. It was only after playing the demo that i found out who the composer was. But the soundtrack really stands out. It's one of the reasons i'm so keen on pre-ordering this game.

The voice acting is spot on too. And so are the sound effects. They really nailed that theatre feel.

Played the demo once which was enough time to :
- grew tired of the irritating cat (those "mew" and "purr" puns are unbearable)
- convince me to pre-order immediately anyway because it looks and sounds fantastic !

Yup it's bigger because of the extra languages.
As well as english, we have french, latin american spanish and brazilian portuguese.

Haha, funny but after checking the russian version, I really think it suits the game perfectly ! It reminds me of some old and great stop motions russian movies !

Sorry not sure on the US PSN pricing. Although the game really is a steal at $39:99.
I know here in Japan that it is a little cheaper on PSN than at retail.

Also remember if you do preorder then you get the amazing sound track by Patrick Doyle. The music in Puppeteer is a master piece and he was an inspiration to work with.

Oh I know it's $40, so even if digital is $40 I may get it ;) ...but seeing as UK ver. is smallest in size (and of equivalent pricing!) I may get that.

Never play Ni No Kuni.

Oh.

Or Virtue's Last Reward.....

Nah man, I have every intention to play Virtue's last reward which sits comfortably in my PSN account. You might not remember me from the thread but 999 is one of my favorite games of this generation.

And I hope you both got me wrong. It's not the pun, it's the VA which is dreadful (in English at least).
