Adam Sessler"Titan Fall one of the Most Enjoyable things I've played at a Convention"

How is EA going to milk this franchise I wonder? With CoD they slap a sucky new single player campaign on it and sell it every year. But how does that work with multiplayer only? Pay to win?
I wouldn't be surprised to see a single player campaign in Titanfall 2. At the moment they're just 68 people, if titanfall is a success they'll surely expand bigtime.

Fake hype plus no single player = not buying even for PC.
Again, I'd really like to know how this hype is different from any other hype

yeah, if this was announced for PS4 and PC. people would be cheering for the game to high heavens. but alas, it is currently attached to xbox.

Gotta ask why yourself why you are posting in a Titanfall thread then surely?
To be honest it is merely about venting frustration. I generally ignore the topic, but I guess I can only read so many headlines about it and hear about it in countless podcasts so many times before I have to vent.

there's really only 2 ways MS can guarantee Titanfall total exclusivity..

buy the IP from Respawn (but this might lead to a bidding war between EA / MS)

or

buy Respawn (again, could lead to a bidding war between them and EA)

as many have said, it's up to Respawn to decide what to do with the IP, but as EA are their publishers I fully expect a PS4 port at some point in the future...

It's a bit like Mass Effect again, and how many people swore blind that would never see the light of day on PS3?

I actually agree with this. Seems like every thread even remotely saying something positive about Xbox One gets shit on within the first five comments. Stupid ass fanboys.

Well I also suspect there were a lot of clauses in the ea investor deal that respawn has to deal with for ea to invest in a ip they do not own.

Mass effect was Microsoft fault, they didn't buy Bioware and let EA beat them to it.

I hope Titanfall is a great success because it was really dirty how Activision done them after they (Infinity Ward) completed Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. (and for the record I pre ordered a PS4, and will only pre order a PS4)

Still skeptical about the title until I see a full match to see the extent of the aim assist, and all the weapons. Poured thousands of hours mostly into Halo this generation since I did not like the MW series due to the amount of aim assist being helped by the magnetism, lack of recoil and just balancing in general with perks/kill streaks.

Halo 4 did ruin the series by ramping up the bullet magnetism/messing up balance in general and killed the series trying to make it far more accessible.

Hopefully Titanfall does not have a huge amount of aim assist and bullet magnetism but I am not counting on it.

IIRC the bullet magnetism thing was introduced to compensate for P2P playing, where someone with 'host advantage' would have such a ridiculous advantage over everyone else as to basically put them in 'god mode'.

Since there will be dedicated servers for XB1 (and I'll put money on dedicated servers for PS4 shooters via some Rackspace deal or something too), I don't think bullet magnetism and aim assist will be as much of a factor if at all. Maybe minimal aim assist but zero magnetism.

I highly doubt they would ever sell the IP or their company. This is the second time those guys have reformed a whole new studio due to disputes with the publisher. MS will have to make a deal with them for specific games in order to keep it exclusive, and that is going to cost MS a hell of a lot of money if the game takes off like it probably will.

I'm glad MS didn't buy Bioware too, not that their time with EA has been stellar mind....

which is why it will probably end up on PS4 at some point...

What exactly makes it a pile of shit? I've used it for a couple of games including Battlefield and it seems to work just fine.

Every time I wanted to use it it would want an update for the client.... then the game. Then once you got it in it was slow. Might be better now but hell if I'm reinstalling it.

Wut?

That's pretty much why I put that caveat in. CoD is extremely popular but I haven't played properly since World at War and CoD4. Those were the last enjoyable experiences for me from that 'franchise'. But I accept it's still hugely popular and people love it. I'm happy a MP game gives them that much joy, it's awesome when you find that game you can play non stop for hours.

My sweet spot is BF4 at the moment, but y'know people have probably looked at BF4 and had their stomach turned. It's all relative. I think the problem is twofold for titanfall:

> The amount of hype - it's just not proportionate to what we've seen. The more hype and exposure something gets, the more people will see it. Some people will be blown away and excited, others will be like 'meh, why is this everywhere? What's so special?';
> Comparisons to CoD - it's nothing like CoD. When people say it's going to be the next CoD, they are referring to sales. Will titanfall really shift more copies than CoD:Ghosts? Will it even shift more than Halo 5?

Just let it grow organically on its own. Don't shove it down our throats. Look at GTA V, every now and again something new releases and the gamers flock to forums and discussion boards and the hype builds itself. In instances like these, it's very much fabricated and pushed out there. I know it's in its infancy of development and still has a long way to go but even Destiny has sort of stood on its own two legs.

So basically, forum hype = genuine, hype from people who've actually played it = manufactured.

This is...troublesome.

This and watchdog seem like games that are going to be forced to be successful, no matter the actual quality. Like Asscreed and GTAIV before them.

Hope to get proven wrong.

I'd be really interested to see how they handle a single-player campaign, because with the added character movement, it doesn't seem like they would be able to make the roller-coaster setpieces as we know them work and the combat scenarios would have to be different, dealing more with vertical space than the relatively flat level design in CoD.

Considering what folks at Respawn has went through (the whole MW2 fiasco) why would they allow themselves to get locked in exclusively to anyone? Mark my words: Titanfall will find it's way on the PS4 and PCs too! No doubt about it.

Let's not discuss the politics and business behind Titanfall/Respawn/EA/MS.

It's literally tales from my ass, in terms of what could potentially happen behind the scenes. We have no insight at all to any of these. I mean, certainly. MS can afford to buy Titanfall, but the same can be said for any big publisher/company willing to throw the cash. And whether or not they want to be bought is a different matter altogether.

Yeah, Titanfall seems purely designed for multiplayer in arena-style set-pieces that allow for the best combination of jetpack wallrunners + mechs. From the offset, it's kinda... hard to imagine how the experience can be made into a single player campaign without it being pseudo-multiplayer.

Pretty much. If it isn't force fed media hype then I'm already worried about next generation where so far nothing is more fun than FPS #1,022.

Force fed? Jesus fucking Christ. You see the title of the article/thread/video, and move on.

God damn.

Seeing the Titan sit up after being knocked down amazes me - not sure why. I wonder if that's just part of the death animation or if it's actually still controllable at that point.

While I wouldn't buy a console based on this game alone, I am extremely interested in buying it for the PS4 if
when
it comes.

I just think the gameplay looks awesome.

The only thing that's annoying me about this video is how blue eyed Sessler is approaching the game. It'll get just as competitive as every multiplayer game, and of course people will know the maps better than the casual player and beat the crap out of good old Sess a few weeks (or days) into the game. It'll get just as serious as every other successful competitive multiplayer game and that's why he'll probably stop playing quickly. I just don't share his optimism that this game won't fall into the same trap, and I think the foundation he's basing his assumption on is very weak.

so that makes it even more realistic that ms could buy out the company or ip if they wanted.

I think they may buy EAs stake in the series, that's if Titanfall is a success for the Xbox.

Edit. It wouldn't surprise me if the game does go multiplatform or if it stays exclusive either way

Nah it's just a handful of trolls that are attempting to de-hype the game. We've had forum hype, hand-on gaming time from both players and journos and multiple 'awards' .. there's pretty much no doubt that this game is exciting a lot of people.

Not saying Titalfall won't be a great game, but there's a reason Adam Sessler will never say a bad thing about it:
Abbie Heppe

They worked together at G4 and are really close friends. Now she works for Respawn.
He's be dissing his friend's hard work if he didn't praise it.

works in both ways,a lot of people are hiper defensive because its the big xbox console exclusive

a lot of complains arent with the game, but with the press hiperbole, you know BEST THING EVARRR,OSCAR WORTHY HISTORY,CITIZEN KANE etc etc

so calling trolls to people who are suspicius about the gaming press dont make anyone a favour, also the majorn nelson meme "have you seen titan fall" rub a lot of people on the wrong way

i repeat ,for me the game looks decent, good character design, but i dint see anything speciall neither on the tech and mechanics side, will try on my pc to see if i was wrong

It's already coming to PC buddy :)

My criticisms are towards the press hype.

Cod with better mobility and mechs isn't enough for me to give a shit about a multiplayer shooter that doesn't have a campaign.

That combined with EA likely to add some really gross microtransactions means I don't think any amount of games press circle jerk could make me give a shit about titanfall.

Wasn't the press equally excited after the Last of Us E3 demo, or the Bioshock infinite presentation? But I don't remember people calling that fake hype

Microtransactions are a "no-go" for Respawn

See, I don't agree that it's all hyperbole. They've all played it. They're doing the job we as games enthusiasts want them to do. And people don't like it, because they all seem to have the same opinion on a game?

I hope you're not being serious with this shit.

Regardless of how good Titanfall may or may not be, a multiplayer only title for full retail price was an unacceptable proposition this gen (Even on platforms where you didn't have to also pay for said multiplayer as well), and I don't see why it shouldn't be unacceptable next gen as well.

Cannot see any good reason for this to not be a downloadable title. Or at least a lower RRP release.

Oh SNAP. Adam, your fragile veneer of objectivity has cracked. You are exposed, sir. Quit now while you have some dignity left.
