Microsoft: "It’s up to us to prove that [Xbox One is] worth $100 more [than PS4]"

I had completely forgotten that Xbone could do the TV stuff

This sounds awfully familiar. It seems Sony learnt a lot last gen meanwhile MS seems to have regressed and is making the same mistakes others have made previously.

I think we do more. I think our games are better. I think as people start to experience Kinect and see what it can do using voice, I think that’s better," he added. "I think the ability to have an all-in-one system where you can plug in the TV, that’s better. I think we’ll have a better online service."

I think....yeah so its not better at all.

To all you US guys, serious question. Do you not have TV guide services built into your televisions? In the UK you would be very hard pressed to find a television to not have this functionality as even our SD TV sets had this via the teletext service, which dates back to the early 80's.

Im not focusing on the other stuff, im just surprised how some US gaffers consider a TV guide to be a interesting feature in 2013.

Btw I really miss the quirkiness of teletex.

$100 more for lesser hardware and performance. No thanks. That and PS Plus, also cheaper than Gold, is order of magnitude better value proposition.

What else would they say?

why pull punches. Double down on the arrogance and say it's worth $200 more than a PS4. The COD crowd would likely be impressed at the display of MS's gigantic brass balls and buy it in droves.

not really, but seeing MS go for broke like 2006 era sony would be hilarious

Worth $100 more?

Is there any part of Sony's pre-PS3 release PR arrogance that Microsoft haven't done a cover version of in the past couple of months?

Laughable.

Honestly I didn't know there were people who did actually find that interesting.

I don't see any value in something I can do just as well with the press of a button on a controller. I cancelled my Xbox One pre order on Thursday, I'm not supporting a motion device I know myself and the family don't give a shit about not to mention the fact it looks like their intentions for games where to write a cheque out for ip rather than actually build a system for games first then really go at it on software.

I'll be keeping my 360 for GTA but I'll wait to see how the system does for a couple of years before investing in one. TitanFall or not.

so because you can see a guide on your tv, that makes the $100 dollar price difference for Xbox One...matter?

GaF you on fire today

That's why the asking price in Euro is well over $600 for a reduced set of features? Thanks, you can keep it, Microsoft.

I consider Kinect negative value.

Besides Forza 5 I've yet to see a single game or feature on the XB1 that I would want on a ps4.

Not to me and and a lot of other consumers, and that's kind of the whole point.

Maybe that would change if MS could secure a lot of great exclusives, but so far nothing has grabbed me.

Serious question here. Does MS tout things such as media service access as value of the XBone? Because those are things that are tied into XBL and marketed as a value add for that service. When only looking at that $500 purchase is there anything you can do with the system outside of play single player games that could be considered value?

I'm actually curious about this because it is one of the things preventing me from even considering an XBone. I stopped subbing to XBL some time ago, and since then my X360 is practically useless outside of single player games. I would love to use it as a streaming device in my bedroom, but XBL locks me out of that.

Even with $100 and more, netflix (and other services) is still behind a paywall. Who ever tthoight thay was a good idea.

Sounds like it will take a while then considering the voice controls he references are available in 5 countries...

Also, some of the service are a big mystery....NFL starts next week...If its so important for them, show off the app now to generate hype...

The XB1 might of been worth $100 more if:
1. It was at least as powerful as the PS4 and did not have a GPU that's closest PC relative is in the same league as a GTX460.

2. Most features had not been behind a pay wall.

3. Kinect 2 looked promising and not as useless and laggy as ever.

Microsoft PR: "Spending less than $500* on a console is a last gen feature."

*inc. Gold.

Ho boy... 8 pages and posts of Albert responding in the thread himself incoming...

This will be interesting. I have nothing against Albert though. He's been the best thing about Microsoft lately.

"$100, when you’re talking $400 vs. $500 [shrugs shoulders]. I don’t believe it’s going to be the deal-killer," he said.

What is that saying... Delusions of grandur?

I suppose it's not a lot more when it's on your wage Albert. For most others it's a quarter more of the price on top to pay. 25% extra. It's getting to second job territory.

We'll see if its a deal killer come January onwards, when the launch buzz has settled.

And this

lot's of "I think" - doesn't seem too sure of his statement.
