Ever find yourself playing for one team(Sony, MS, Nintendo) for long periods of time

This ever happen to anyone else?

Don't know if it's my ADD/Hyper focus tendencies or what, but I catch myself playing towards one team for long periods of time. Like say for months or more, I'm a hardcore Nintendo or Sony fanboy that only wants to spend time with those associated properties.

Like recently with the release of Wonderful 101 and SC: Blacklist, I'm riding a Wii U high and want to just flat out invest in everything I can (relatively speaking, due to what's available). Duck Tales Remastered, DnD, Watch Dogs, etc...

...but then in a couple weeks, KZ: Mercenary will drop and I'll widely swing back to all things Vita/Sony

...I dunno, maybe I overthink the shit.

i play stuff on the best platform i can so it's mostly PC with the console exclusives spread around in there

the games that i want to play determine everything

Mmmmh, nope. Well, when I was a kid (around 8/12yo) I was a Nintendo fanboy, but since then I love every consoles. PSone, PS2, Dreamcast, Xbox, GC, etc etc. I kinda "hate" the fanboy thing... For me what matter are games, and there are good games on every systems.

I even liked the 3DO, Jaguar, CD-i... :D

Yeah.

Always have been with Nintendo.

I'm expecting a lot of this in here.

I've never had a problem with only owning the best system of the gen, whoever made it is irrelevant. That was 360 for the first half of this gen, then PS3 for the second half. 360 was then sold off as it got less games and less games.

I do that everytime a good game comes out that's exclusive to one console. When the TLOU came out I was all Sony, when Luigi's Mansion Dark Moon came out I was all Nintendo, and when the Steam sale happened I was all PC. In general I don't really stick to one, but I do get in over my head when a good exclusive comes out.

For next gen I don't care about any of the 3 right now, because they all look great to me.

Nintendo all the time. Since they provide games I enjoy. There's the odd 3rd party but that is rather miniscule. Depends on the individual.

I was Nintendo only up until the 360 came out. Then I ended up selling mine and got a PS3. I've enjoyed Nintendo and Sony ever since.

i usually play games on nintendo consoles if they are available on those.

aside of that it was mostly on 360 but since a year or so it changed to PS3.

nowadays i mostly purchase games on wiiu as there are actually some good games that came out the last few weeks.

I think a big part that fuels it is being a gamer on a budget and honestly only wanting as little as many platforms to play on period.

Like say for 2 weeks or more

I don't agree with your definition of "long time" OP.

Sometimes I'll feel like playing certain games on certain devices. I've had long spells where I have mostly wanted to find new DS games, for instance. It happens.

No fanboying involved.

i think there was no clear cut best system last gen.
360 won 2005 by default
wii was the best imho from 2006 to 2009 with 360 being a close second
i think around 2010 Wii fell off very quickly and PS3 became the best.

For the longest time I was an Xbox fan, all the way back during the original Xbox days. Fable, Kotor, Conkers and Blinx were some of my favourite games. I still had a PS2, but the Xbox exclusives resonated with me more.

And then the 360 came out and gave us Mass Effect, Halo 3, Dead Rising, Condemned. I loved my 360, but Microsoft really dropped the ball with exclusives during the later years and Sony slowly pulled me back in with Journey, Uncharted 2/3, Killzone 2 & The Last of Us.

Now I'm probably back in Sony's camp. I love my Vita and the direction their going with the PS4 (heavy indie push)

Same here. I play the game on the platform it performs best on, if it's an exclusive then I obviously have no choice, but if not then it's usually the one that has the best performance. I'm not too fussed about gimmicks.

Sometimes I'll play almost exclusively on one platform for a stretch of time. 3DS for awhile, then PC for a couple of weeks, then something else. It has nothing to do with any "teams" though. I like games, man.

Yes. Having been switching between my 3DS and Vita consistently for the past year and a half.

This. I shelved my 3DS weeks ago though to work through this onslaught of Vita games that came out. Trying to go through Katamari, SIlent Hill, and Dragon's Crown at the same time. @_@

Yep. I'll go a week playing just Nintendo, then the next week only PC, then another week only PS3, I don't intentionally do it but I have noticed that I go through these phases.

Yup, bailed on MS entirely 'bout 2 years ago. Made life quite a bit easier too.

Oh, I've had longer stretches for sure

I barely touched my PS3 for those first few months when I got my Wii U

2 weeks?

Dude, a long time is riding that horse for years, generations. Get out of here with that "2 weeks." ;)

lol

If it happens, it's only coincidence. I'm not a slave to any company. Good games exist on all platforms.

That being said, after a paltry first-half, the WiiU is killing it this fall and winter. Aside from Rayman, Amnesia, Puppeteer, GTAV and Beyond: Two Souls, it's all Nintendo titles for the rest of the year (TWW HD, Pokémon X and Y, Sonic: Lost World, Super Mario 3D World, A Link Between Worlds, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, etc).

...at least, from what I can recall offhand. When does Hotline Miami 2 come out?

I used to be like that until i got my first PC in '98. Since then I haven't touched a console or felt any kind of brand loyalty for games.

No. Where the games are, I'm always there. Except for PC. I hate PC. No force in the universe could make me sit on a chair and play games on a desk.

Thinking about it, my "main console" has changed companies every gen.

Genesis (short lived though, like a year) -> N64 -> PS2 -> XBOX 360 -> PS4

Don't have much allegiance. I go to the console that looks better for each respective gen. I usually end up with multiple consoles by the end of the gen anyway.

Mine resets each gen:

NES > SNES > PS1 > PS2 > 360 > PS4?

My main system is always the best system that gen. Fuck fanboys who only go for one company.

I know exactly what you mean, and I'm really glad you brought it up. I "suffer" from (it's not really "suffering", per se; more like "deal with") intense ADHD and moderate OCD, and because of that I can only really be dedicated to one brand at a time. I've been all for Apple, Sony, Microsoft, Samsung, etc. Typically when I go all Apple I support Nintendo for video games. I guess it's because nothing Nintendo makes really directly competes with Apple's products.

I like to think that my true home is Sony, but sometimes I can't help but deter.

When I was a kid I blindly followed Nintendo. That was dumb. Missed out on a lot of classic on other systems.

Yeah, all the time. Since May - June I've been Nintendo-only and haven't touched my 360. I'm coming to the end of that now though and have been thinking about playing Witcher 2 and Fallout 3 again, so probably about to have a 360 run for a while.

I've played Sony consoles exclusively for the past 10 years, with a smidge of PC gaming on the side. If I owned an xbox or nintendo system I'd probably play on them, but I have 0 interest in getting either.

I was a hardcore nintendo fanboy back in the day, lol. That didn't change until the ps2/xbox/gc era, but I'm glad it did because it's stupid as hell.

For what you said specifically, that only happens if they happen to have multiple releases together. So I've been on the PS3 a good bit this summer with the last of us and now tales of xilla, then I'll switch to wii u/360 for september/october with gta5, rayman, wind waker hd, etc.

I usually play one console for literally years, with PC in parallel.

However, this does not color my opinion of consoles, which are all basically the same thing to me. I care about the games.
