Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

We did? I thought nothing was shown day of

This was the image that went up at the typical update time:

After the Direct aired it was changed to this:

Assuming Ridley IS the stage hazard (and it's very likely at this point), I wonder if this means we'll start seeing more characters as stage hazards. Yellow Devil is already strongly hinted at being one. I'm pretty okay with this.

Past games had Birdo (Melee) and Ultimate Chimera (Brawl)... who else?

I hope Ridley makes it in as a transforming character so we can stop arguing about which of his designs would/wouldn't work.

the street where little Mac runs with Louis on his bike should be a stage and Louis comes and hits players with appearances from king hippo and glass Joe

Koopa, Crab, etc - Mario Bros.
Donkey Kong Sr. (Cranky Kong) - 75m
F-Zero Racers - both F-Zero stages
The Summit - Fishes
Distant Planet - Monster Bug
3 Pokemons - Spear Pillar
Mario Circuit - Marts (Shy-Guy I guess?)

Dialga/Palkia/Cresselia in Brawl could hop to the foreground and attack you I think.

Glaceon soup was a joke because your avatar. You have to ask BGBW about Squirtle soup.
Some things you just don't joke about yo
I know you were joking ;)

A lot happened when I was gone...

Villager scalped Balloon Fighter and stole his balloons, and Donkey Kong kicked his banana addiction and replaced it with steroids. Good stuff.

WHAT IF THE BOXING ARENA IS ACTUALLY AN ANIMAL CROSSING STAGE?!

Even joking about Punch Out!! not getting proper representation in Smash infects my brain with madness.

No jokes or fun allowed please.

SSB 64 had the pokemon come onto the roof in Saffron City
Venosaur, Charmander, Chancey, Porygon, and Electrode

Donkey Kong and Mario are in the crowd as well...oh wait. Wrong game.

As long as one of the six Pokemon is Mr. Mime everyone will be happy.

I think 6 Pokémon could be cool, if it's something like one starter from every generation.

Though switches could get really irritating with so many Pokémon...

A Pokemon that can evolve multiple times during play would be interesting.

Is Digimon some sort of dollar store Pokemon?

two cent joke is priceless

Could be like Digimon Rumble Arena. I loved that game. Oddly enough, the first game had better characters than the second one. Anyone else play this game?

YES!

The best part about the first one? The fucking music, SOOOOO good. Remixes of JPN songs and such, but when I played it, I didn't know that. The sequel ruined it...like, literally, none of the levels even had music, just weird nature sounds.

I think Eevee who could quickly switch between its evolutions depending on the attack used would be neat.

Totally. Both games are great, though I also found the first one more enjoyable. I'd also like to say that Rumble Arena gameplay style approaches Smash Bros., if only a little.

I don't think evolution can work for Smash Bros., though. It would be like giving Mario a sword or having Link shoot laser beams; Pokémon do not evolve temporarily, so, it wouldn't make sense to have a character that evolves mid-battle, then returns to their previous state. Megas will be in the game though -- Mewtwo sounds like a good contestant.

I guess that some sort of Poké Ball Pokémon could use the evolution mechanic though. I remember someone suggesting Eevee be a Poké Ball Pokémon that evolves into any Eeveelution based on the stage. Would be pretty cool to be in an Ice Climbers stage and see Eevee become Glaceon, then in a lovey-dovey stage and see it turn into Sylveon and so on.

It'll be nice to get a new character via today's Pokémon Direct. With XY being the most recent game, Origins being relevant and HGSS being in a similar situation to SSB4 as FRLG was to Brawl back in the day, anything is possible.

All I know is that I liked the designs in Digimon better than Yu-Gi-Oh, but Pokemon reigned suprememonoh.

For real though. Despite the clunkiness due to it being on PSX, it was extremely enjoyable, and unbelievably satisfying. Glad to see someone else who appreciated it.

Definitely. I'd say that Rumble Arena is the only game that has come close to the gameplay of Smash, without changing the core mechanics (a la PSASBR, which I very badly wanted to be good)

And I agree. The only way evolution could work is through Eevee, and it would be the perfect example to do so. I think even as a character, changing based on the stage, could be perfect. Eevee is back in the spotlight with the whole Sylveon deal, so it'll be interesting to see what happens, as I'm always welcoming another Pokemon rep for Smash.

All this Digimon talk reminds me that Namco Bandai are the ones who actually own Digimon.

It's a shame the series is nowhere near as popular as it was in the late 90's/early 00's and that it didn't start out as a video game. I wouldn't mind Pikachu fighting Agumon.

Saffron City from Smash 64 has quite a few hazards in the Pokemon Center.

Well Digimon Fusion is airing in the US this month finally. Series 3 of it
sees the characters from all seasons teaming up and taking down the big bad.
You never know, it could surge again. I really hope it does, that show made my imagination run wild.

Back on topic, make Tai and Agumon playable characters in this. The hell with Pac-Man, or Goku, or any other potential Namco Bandai character.

I can't get over his facial design! It just feels really off.

And why not change PT's Pokémon? Yeah the others aren't as iconic but it'd freshen things up a little.

He doesn't need to have new Pokemon when the ones he already uses are fine and make sense with his character.

h.

Yep, I still have a copy of the first one. Never did play the second one. One of the first things I did when I got Brawl was remake the stages with the Stage Creator. Fun game.

So update coming in a few minutes. I have my expectations very grounded. I'm not going to lose sleep over it, but I can see them reveal a Pokémon veteran in the same way they did Luigi. It's plausible.

When will they reveal Little Mac

It's quite obvious that he will be in this when there is a boxing stage that resembles PunchOut!

Pac-mon is a digital monster eater.

Fixed for justice.

Pit is attacking the Pokemon that is out of frame.
