I had enough space to install the entire game several times over

For whatever reason, FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn has turned read only, preventing the patcher from making changes. To fix:
1. Right click your FINAL FANTASY XIV - A Realm Reborn folder
2. Click properties and untick Read-only.
3. Click apply and then OK.
Simple as that!

what worked for me is turning off my antivirus right before the moment it usually pop up the error then turning it back on right after it safely went over it

Honestly I have never really said anything going in instances If I don't know I ask them a few questions before a boss maybe. Most of the time I don't say anything though. I was asked once have I been in a place before I said nope and we just kept going lol.

I started asking how a fight changed from 1.0 and naming specific abilities and they were all like we didn't play 1.0, so then I proceeded to tell them in detail how the fight worked in 1.0 and none of them even knew if it was the same they were like I guess. It basically was. So in that case even though they thought they knew everything they were the noobs and they knew it.

Most people like that don't know shit. a good player would be like ok this has x popping here, and this does that and do this when this happens. Not just up and leave.
 
Does anyone have that image that showed the various things that unlock at the level points? It was a set of circles.

kinda wish this game had streaming world... that shit was game changing in wow.

Doesn't help that i wince everytime in enter a new zone, hoping i don't error out.

huh? Crafting has shared skills? I didn't even know.
 
I want to try messing with a parser tonight. Anyone have experience with either the japanese one or FF XIV App? Are these considered safe too? From what I read, the japanese one does a better job of calcing dps due to dots, but I don't know japanese.
 
Was looking at the patch notes and noticed the entry regarding The Mark of the Twelve. Is that supposed to show up on all characters created on a Legacy account, or just characters that existed in 1.0? The patch notes make it sound like the former.

I would hope so since that literally requires 4 level 50 jobs and a 37 Culinarian. :P
 
So far not one complaint about not logging in on this entire page. All talk is about the game itself. Was the last maintenance a success?
 
What is this 7 day free trial they are talking about on their website and how can i get it? Also where is the client so i can dl the game in preparation for when i buy it? :D

I'm curious about this too for tracking stats as I go, especially for my dps classes/jobs I plan on leveling.

They're adding 7 days to existing accounts. You can't DL the game without an account (which you get by buying the game).
 
Man ACN leveling has not been fun at all past 20. One more level and I can unlock Scholar which will allow me to lvl thru healing finally.

I just entered my CC info and subscribed for the 30-day plan. Aren't we supposed to get the Veteran Rewards immediately? I wanna change the look of my char pretty bad.

XD Well, I'm saying that as a sort of generalization, being the server that Blue Garter is on. In all honesty, though, everyone I've come across thus far has been super helpful and nice.

Curious to see how the game holds up tonight XD

I think the Japanese one is more trustworthy but you have to pay attention to how it summarizes numbers (some summary such as DPS on bosses data is misleading) and I'm not sure either are perfect (plus, XIV does automatic log trimming so if you're running it after the fact you may get bad data). The interface is in English though, you don't need to know Japanese to use it.

Oh damn thanks for the tip. I have LTW at 29 so I think I'll pause and get Alc to 15 so I can get that skill. It's pretty crazy.

It is only on 1.0 characters.

Of course all the children running around with their fancy face paint... of all the newfangled trends!

Yeah, I wasn't planning on touching ALC (at least not for a long time) but now I'm gonna have to get to at least 15 for that skill.

Not only 1.x characters, it is actually only on ones that got far enough in the story. My sister's 1.x character doesn't have the mark, for example, because she never did the story line in 1.x.
 
I guess I'm lucky with the Duty Finder, did The Stone Vigil and 3 of us were new to it and the Tank only got up to the first boss with his previous run. We rocked that place, only 2 wipes on trash mobs, but we lay down the law on the bosses. I must say the latter dungeons sure do have fun Boss mechanics.
