ATLUS the developer

I'm just wondering, how many development teams does Atlus have? I was surpised when I read Hashino's (Persona director) statement regarding Atlus' 25th anniversary that the P3/P4 team was also behind Nocturne and Digital Devil Saga.

Does anybody know how many teams are inside Atlus and what games they are/were making?

1. Team 1 - Nocturne, DDS, Persona 3 and 4, Catherine, Persona 5?
2. Team 2 - Raidou 1 and 2, ???
3. Team 3 - Strange Journey, SMTIV?, Devil Survivor 1 and 2?

There are currently only two development studios in the Index Consumer Software Division. There's the 1st Production Studio and the 2nd Production Studio.

The 1st Production Studio is where most of the games come from. EO games, Devil Survivor games, SMT4, whatever else.

The 2nd Production Studio is Hashino's Persona team which is its own thing now. They produced P4, P3P, P4G, P4 Arena, and Catherine. They are currently working on Persona 5.

In the past it was a single production studio when it was Atlus R&D1. After Cozy Okada left, Hashino produced almost everything for a time, as well as directing many of them - Maken X, SMT3, DDS, P3, EO1, etc. But as they started to have more output, and as Persona became increasingly popular, they split the Persona team into its own secondary studio.

Actual teams seem to be formed on a project to project basis, so there are no fixed teams other than those which make sense when it comes to pumping out sequels. When a series stops getting sequels, the team members are moved onto other projects.

How many employees does Atlus have??

I see. So basically the setup now is Persona Team and Everything-Else Team. I wonder if Hashino's team will go to Persona 6 after P5 or if they once again develop other SMT spinoff games.

Better they develop new IP or new Catherine game installation. My body needs another cubicle puzzle games.

I just need to know who is doing the sequel to Radiant Historia now.

I hope.

It bombed in Japan and I don't think it did well enough here to get a sequel even though they did end up doing a reprint.

Index Corp has 387 employees, but that also includes the Social/Mobile and Amusement divisions.

Duckroll, I have a question: Given that the company is still announcing games (Atlus USA in particular), do you think that they have a fair idea or even know who it is that's going to buy Index? Would that be possible?

That's a hell of a classy workplace. I bet the speakers keep replaying the Persona soundtrack all day.

Didn't they develop the Tokyo Gakuen game on PSP too ?
I remember some guys saying that there was staff from the Persona team working on this game, I could be wrong though

Where's the team that makes langrisser and growlanser? oh :(

They make Devil Survivor with the MegaTen creators. I think it's likely Shinjiro Takata's team working on the Fire Emblem crossover since he's the one who worked on those digital sticker girl games that Nintendo publish from them.

Weren't those titles only published by Atlus? I don't think they were internally developed. At least, that's what wikipedia says:
The series is the creation of Career Soft, with publishing duties handled by Atlus Co. in Japan.

Anyway, Yo Haduki, a Growlanser scenario writer, ended up writing Devil Survivor 1/Overclocked. I don't know if other team members also worked on it though.

They were only Career Soft until Growlanser IV, after that they became an internal team (Team Career was internal). The core Langrisser team worked with Shinjiro Takata until Devil Survivor. Yo Haduki actually worked on the story for Radiant Historia after that though, he didn't work on Devil Survivor 2.
