Being a tank feels like a very thankless job when people blame you for everything.

Good thing tanks have instant queues on the duty finder!

Even when my game is straight locked 30, never wavering, not even dropping to 29, the game is stuttering like fucking crazy on PC. I have it locked at 30fps, but it looks like I'm dropping down to 10-15 even though the FPS counter isn't moving.

I can't explain it, I've never really seen anything like it in a game before. Maybe it's shitty SLI support, I have a GTX 590. There are some parts where I'm running around and it's stuttering and jerking so bad it looks like less than 10fps, but the Fraps icon in the corner still says straight up 30 (and so does the System Configuration menu in the game, if I open that up).

Driving me nuts, I don't know if it's anything I can fix or if I have to wait for a patch or drivers. :/

It's probably your SLI. I run a single card 660ti and I get no stuttering or major frame drops to 10; 40 at the lowest for me during high player count areas.

Sounds like micro stutter. It is a problem that comes from SLI/xfire. Try disabling one GPU. I have no idea if there a fixes for this game.

I've found plenty of complaints from single GPU users from both Nvidia and AMD. I think this is Square's fuck up.

Most of the complaints seem to be on the Nvidia side, but I think that just might be because Nvidia cards are more prevalent than AMD.

Ya, I'll try this. 'Tis a decent suggestion. It's more like macro-stutter, though, lol.

In any case, I do agree that Nvidia/AMD will need to release drivers to improve performance and stability for ARR overall. SE will need to release another patch to improve the game as well.

I am scared shitless of Copperbell. I hear it's hard as hell, and dungeons are officially a black plague to me after that conversation posted before. Goddamn. This is the first MMO I ever did instance raids in. I guess I'll just have to avoid it for now on.

They need to allow for more people in the FCs. It sucks not being able to play with gaffers instead of risking crap like what happened in those screens.
Are you on ultros? I should be doing copperbell first time this weekend if ya wanna join :)

Ugh. So I log into the account that says I have 12 days left of free time for the PC version, but it asks for a realm reborn registration key. When I enter the one I have on the back of the manual it says already registered.

Where can I get the client for people with the 1.0 game?

I downloaded it from here:

http://na.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodestone/topics/detail/607fcd5b2c7eca6ff3e9e9b097d1f1fdcc37b4db

I'm not a Legacy player or anything. Played 1.0 for like a week. Just logged in and downloaded it.

Copperbell is quite easy overall except that boss which requires a different approach that the bosses until know, and NEVER, EVER mind saying it's your first time or that you don't know the strategy for a boss. Some people might be assholes but plenty of people are willing to help and explain things.

Thats pretty much the trade off, you have to put up with alot of shit but you get fast invites. Same in any mmo really.

I get the game tomorrow (if delivered on time). I can't wait to get in and play. Tried some of the beta for 1.0, and it was horrifying. Did some of the new beta, and it was great! Sadly had to go out of town so only spent 2 hours in the game. So this will be completely new to me.

Plus, looks like they fixed the log in issues (well...somewhat fixed).

i've been using random duty finder groups for most of my play time. i haven't met any serious dicks. maybe two annoying people from level 1-50, but they weren't assholes to anybody. was i lucky?

Definitely possible.

Yesterdays patch seemed to fix my alt-tab issues so I dont crash anymore when tabbing out.

I still have the error where the screen goes black for a few seconds and then comes back. It used to come back with a low framerate but, after updating to the latest beta drivers, it returns with a normal framerate. It still happens, though, which bugs the shit out of me.
Event Viewer shows that its the Nvidia drivers that are failing but recovering shortly after.

Ultros indeed! I'll try to stop being a scaredy-cat and just do the dungeon but yeah, if anything, I can join anyway with Level Scaling.

It's actually a very fun dungeon imo I'd be more than willing to help you out with it as well if I'm on when you plan to do it. I've only done it a couple of times and wouldn't mind doing it again. :)

i've done it two ways so far

tank tanks in the middle

1 dps kills adds

1 dps focuses on boss

when 6-7 adds appear at once, both dps kills adds, then when they start to trickle back the boss dps goes back on the boss

save melee lb for when the big adds appear

or

tank tanks in the middle

everyone attacks boss and uses aoe to kill adds, probably a more caster friendly solution

never had to have the tank kite anything

we finished him earlier. previously, the healer insisted on kiting around a few adds, which didn't go so well :p

i envy the patience y'all white mages have.

I guess it isn't soo bad if you enjoy FATEs. But trying to do hunting logs and leves and quests as a conj, throwing pebbles. yesh.

Wow, that sounds really shitty, I guess I'll stick with my insane stuttering and feel lucky.

So what kind of end game is there? I'm level 35 now and I'm just wondering what there is to do when I reach max level. Are there any raids or anything? Really loving the game. I've kept myself on media blackout but I finished 1.0.

I found the game runs really well on my laptop, got it running on the high laptop settings and not only do the art & graphics look great but it runs at ~45fps fairly consistently

All of the pug groups I've been in so far have been very helpful and friendly. Most of the time I get an explanation of boss mechanics before each fight. They were also pretty chill when it came to getting wiped. lol

Guess I'll keep trucking with the PS3 version. Looks like I have to buy the game again on PC if I want to play it on this account with character I already have.

Don't worry too much about duty finder groups, you're always going to hear more about the horror stories than the times everything went fine. I have yet to encounter any assholes and while the group quality can vary wildly, most are willing to work with you if you have issues. If you're really that worried about it then you can also always read up about the dungeon before you go in so at least you have an idea what to expect.

Worst case scenario you can always drop the group if you encounter someone causing issues. I'd rather wait the 15 minutes and queue up again than deal with someone with a bad attitude.

there are a few dungeons that are only available after the story is finished and primal fights.

binding coil of bahamut is the hardest dungeon in the game right now and its 8 man.

The first 24 man raid dungeon crystal tower is coming in 2.1 (october)

It doesnt happen often...just usally within the first hour of playing. But the fact that its there bugs me. I only ever really see it once per play session and I play A LOT. The moment it happens when Im in a dungeon or something, Im going to be real irritated.

I thought it was my GPU too but some googling shows a bunch of other Nvidia users with the issue. So its definitely something that Nvidia or SE needs to look at.
I posted about it on the forums but that was quickly drowned out because of the server complaints. I should bump that in a few days.

Thanks! Now to get my rag tag group of newbies in shape before Raid time. I started on a new server even though I'm a legacy member. It's been an interesting experience.

Logging in with a 1.0 account should let you download and patch the game without buying anything new, the welcome back trial period is still on for another 2 weeks and you don't require an few CD key on an existing account to do so. If its not letting you download the launcher or update it using your 1.0 account, you have done something wrong.

If you want to see if the accounts can be merged: your best course of action is to contact SE's customer support email address (or give them a ring, assuming it has quietened down) to see if they can transfer your characters/merge/etc. They were very understanding with people accidentally activating the wrong service accounts and whatnot so maybe they'll help you with this.

So is there any way to change the poll? I'm curious to see how many people are planning on staying after the free month. I know a lot of people pick MMOs as their "new game" and play it for its free period and then drop it, but I really want to see what percentage of the GAF community I can actually expect to see in the coming months.

Eh. I won't bother. The character on PC wasn't even all that high level, probably under 10. I'll just keep the character I have on PS3 as my main, and buy PC version when it gets cheap. I already cancelled that account due to frustration. I'll bite when its $20 or so, no more. Already paid $40 for PS3 version.

Thanks for trying to help though man.

October was the last time frame that I heard being thrown around... but they haven't given an official date or anything as far as I'm aware.

If the date's October, that doesn't leave all that much time to get better geared and pick up a relic weapon. Time to get farming!

Its the decision to do SLI. My last SLI was 460..never again.

Yep, first time trying to run Copperbell and I meet a complete asshole who thinks he's the Godking of Final Fantasy gameplay.

Anyone here have any veteran rewards yet? If so, do you get the reward on every character on your account, even characters you make after the subscription?

This happened to me the first days but it dissapeared without me doing anything :/ (running a single GTX 460, with the 311 drivers, because any new drivers wont work with 400 series).

No stuttering though (I have the game installed on SSD) and decent fps (between 30 and 50ish with a custom setting).

I was able to log in after work last night immediately with no queues or errors O_o

I've been levelling a Conjurer and am up to 25 but decided to go ahead and get Arcanist to 15 for the upcoming White Mage thing at 30. I have a couple questions that I haven't been able to figure out. Does being White Mage mean I change from Conjurer to White Mage or do you stay Conjurer with that as a "sub class"? Also, how do abilities work? Do I keep all of my Conjurer ones and just get new White Mage ones to go along with it?

Also, levelling Arcanist to 15 has been harder than I expected. I got to 10 pretty fast but at that point (in Ul'Dah area, Western Thanalan) I ran out of quests to do. I did some leves, then tried joining a couple fates but ALWAYS seem to ride up to them just as they are ending. Then I tried grinding on mobs and wow that's going to take forever. What do you do on these alt levelling classes to level? I hear FATE groups which I have not done yet but are there any other options for me? It's been a bummer to sorta hit this wall where as with my Conjurer I've been questing and doing dungeons the whole way up with none of this "what do I do now?" stuff.

Oh and thanks for all the macro posts. I'm going to be incorporating a lot of them into the game tonight after work. Right now I really have just been using 1 to heal me if needed and that mouseover heal which is nice.

I may subscribe as I adore the game so far. Just worry about what sort of content will be available for endgame assuming I hit cap in the next 30 days. Not sure I want to pay to wait for raids and dungeons to show up. Better to have the poll closer to the free period closure date anyway. Too early for a lot of us to really know yet I think.

If anything I'll certainly be back when PS4 port launches. Hopefully with a few content patches included.
