Final Fantasy 14 Servers suffering from continuous DDoS attacks

Final Fantasy 14's North American servers have been hammered by DDoS attacks since the release of Patch 7.4—I'd know, I play on them—which has players starting to grind their teeth in frustration. Especially given the release of the latest Savage (high-difficulty) raid tier, and the race to world first that buoys it.

Take a look at the game's official status page, and you'll see notice after notice detailing "recoveries from DDoS" attacks, most of which kicked off in September, primarily affecting North American data centers. On a personal note, most of my gaming sessions, as someone who plays on one of these things, have been interrupted by a DDoS error at some point.

There's also an X account that tracks them, cataloguing them via a website called is.xiv.up.

Final Fantasy 14's NA servers continue to struggle with DDoS attacks, likely due to a service provider's wonky nodes

Yeah it's pretty bad, and the Square Enix defenders are hard at work telling people that we can't get mad at the poor indie company because they're completely helpless and can't do anything about it

This has been going on far longer than patch 7.4 this has been happening for almost a year only now its happening multiple times a day, I got kicked 4 times alone last night.

This isn't all ddos as far as I'm concerned this is something with their servers at this point. Some nights its almost unplayable and I've lost so much progress on runs the past few weeks I ended up unsubscribing.

Worst part is when it happens you have to wait 15-20 minutes to get back on between the queue and the time it takes for your character to log out.

Oddly enough I was finally thinking of using January as my month to catch up on the latest expansion but stories like this make me think I'll never play?

Might as well wait until 7.55 later this year, when all the expansion's advertised content (Beastmaster, etc) is actually out. Maybe these server issues will be fixed by then

Thanks for reminding this was the n1 reason i never went ahead
I just remembered that I picked up one of the lastest expansions on Steam like a year or two ago. Also had to buy the base game again, even though I played it on PC already, but whatever.

I don't remember how this worked exactly, but I subscribed for a month and couldn't play the game because I had played on the Windows client or something. There was no way to bridge both PC accounts.

They took about a week to respond to my ticket and said there's nothing I can do about it. They also wouldn't refund me the subscription.

I thankfully got a refund from Steam and I haven't even looked at the game since 😕

Is beast master a real class or some throwaway shit like blue mage?
It will be throwaway and DoA one week after it releases which they still have disclosed no information about. No one likes Limited Jobs and always being one expansion behind everyone else.

That said the DDOS attacks make me glad I unsubbed a while ago.

Much better games to play. Next expansion will make or break XIV I'm afraid and based on more recent interviews they are likely to move forward towards the mobile game anyway so it had a nice run.
