GTA V has gone gold.

WTF do you people want, exactly? The first IGN article came out and didn't mention tech stuff. GAF bitched and moaned that it wasn't discussed. Then the new article comes out today and actually covers game mechanics/tech, and even framerate, and then everyone chooses not to believe them. Seriously, they can't win can they?

I'm mostly talking about other games where so many reviewers either didn't talk about performance issues at all or glossed over it quickly with "it looked and ran fine", only for people to get their hands on it and find out it's a disaster that runs at 18fps and tears like crazy. It's baffling how they could miss it even if they're not exactly trained to spot it, like I can't see jaggies unless I reeeally strain my eyes looking for them but I can easily spot a game struggling to run on the system at all.

Are we happening yet?

Not sure if fake. Help me.

Official Cover art from Rockstar:

I freaking hope we get 720P and mostly close to 30 fps consistent on the PS3. I will be a happy man.

For reference:
GTAIV PS3 - 640P, Shitty FPS
RDR PS3 - Also 640P, Also Shitty FPS

I think you went from 24fps to 20fps to 18fps over the course of the last ~5 posts, with the same point.

Was Max Payne 3 720p on PS3? (i played 360 and PC)

I realize it might not be that good of a comparison since it wasn't open world.

Everybody's different. Not everyone notices the same graphical flaws. Hell, I notice screen tearing all the time, but my roommate can never see it and he's a huge PC gamer. If you mostly play console games, I think it's understandable that you probably wouldn't be discerning about the difference between 25 and 30 fps or pop-in or draw distance. Most people just don't notice or care about that stuff. Only a very tiny portion of gamers give a shit, and those are the ultranerds that post on GAF on a regular basis. No offense, as I'm one of those ultranerds. But you can't expect a major media site to not cater to the lowest common denominator.

I'd be happy with decent IQ and sub-HD for a game of this scale, with a stable framerate. But actual native 720p would be amazing.

The helicopter in the top left is from the box art for San Andreas.

Knew it looked familiar.

Judging by previews, it runs smooth on PS3.

IGN said today "in their several hours of play they didn't suffer one technical issue".

I'm the opposite. I'd rather them tone down the bells and whistles and give me a sharper picture.

Wouldn't mind the option really. Didn't one 360 game have the option for sub-HD 60Hz or 720p sub-60Hz? Depends which one would be more noticeable. My screen is only 24 inches, so the extra sharpness wouldn't be too noticeable.

Is IGN reliable with technical issues tests ?

You think IGN would write a piece like this and then objectively, thoroughly assess the game's technical performance and then mention it in the otherwise starstruck 'preview'?

If the performance wasn't good then no they wouldn't bring up anything technical. Some people have low standards though and consider sub-30 FPS still smooth. All depends on the writer, I'm not familiar with the guy that wrote this piece.

Join us on PS3. I really don't see there being many differences between the versions this time around.
Aha! Thanks for the offer but I may not have to. Turns out my disc drive is a little bit wonky--to be fair it has been making funny noises whenever I throw a game in. I'm back on the dashboard now, so it's not totally fucked.

Side note for those who may know: will uninstalling my games to the HDD keep this from being a larger issue later on?

I was joking.

All the recent previews were running on 360 ?

could the PS3 version suck?, ive been dissapointed too many times to feel safe.

Rockstar has showed the ps3 version until now, what's going on lately to be so worried? Could be 360 will show some little extra details like more dense grass here & there (I have in mind Max Payne 3) but I don't think will be crazy differences.

Im looking forward to the mayhem you can cause by switching characters. It could be the most innovative gameplay mechanic yet for an open world game.

Those pictures are based on real people, a while back Rockstar had a Epsilon Program contest where you submitted a picture of yourself and could be featured in GTA V as a cult member.

Congrats to those duders, they will be part of GTA V forever.
