Super Smash Bros Wii U and 3DS Thread 2: Where Pilotwings is apparently Minecraft

megaman just looks so good i update my post from a while ago saying how im gushing over pikachu's, kirby's and villager's shading and add megaman to that pile.

Thread is kind of stagnant due to lack of news. I hope you guys don't mind if I share some of my ideas and wishes for Smash Wii U/3DS:

Modes:

  • Stamina: Same as always with more settings. Ability to set exact amount of percentage health and perhaps how far characters are thrown from attacks.
  • Super Smash: Rather than Smash Balls floating about randomly, final smashes are obtained via combos (either combos done in quick succession or large amounts of damage dealt without taking damage). Similar to how PSASBR works, only without the three different variants and orb pickups or whatever. Amount of throw is also adjustable.

Characters:

  • Banjo-Kazooie: A beloved and heavily requested character, of course. Utilization of the plethora of moves learned in the two Banjo games would make for a varied moveset and interesting character.
    1. Jab: Basic Banjo Jabs
    2. Up-tilt: Swing Kazooie in a swiping upward motion
    3. Down-tilt: Swing pack low and around (Pack Whack)
    4. Side-tilt: Breegull blast! Swing Kazooie over your head.
    5. Up-smash: Upward bill-drill
    6. Down-smash: Bill-drill (dive when airborne)
    7. Side-smash: Beak Bayonet
    8. Neutral Special: Snooze pack to heal or taxi pack as a DK-esque grapple
    9. Up-special: Springy Step or Flap Flip (back flip), feathery flap when airborne
    10. Down-special: Poop grenade egg
    11. Side-special: shoot eggs (regular, ice, fire, etc.)
    12. Air-borne attacks? I dunno, I'm not super creative ;)
    13. Final Smash: Either wonderwing, breegull blaster with golden eggs, Wumba/Mumbo transformations, etc.

Misc.:

  • Stage settings: turn off hazards, change subtle aesthetics like weather or time of day
  • Adventure mode: each character has their own adventure, going through various Nintendo worlds, to meat with their semi-final foe: their rival (Mario-Bowser, Link-Ganon, rival-less characters have dark clones or something creative).
  • Online: better match-making with specific hoppers like 1v1, 2v2, FFA, competitive, crazy, etc.
  • Alt costumes: not only color variants but actual costume changes (Mario-Dr. Mario, Peach-Athletic Peach, Villager-Female Villager, etc.)

Just some basic stuff I'd LOVE to see. Probably won't happen. :(

I like your Adventure mode idea!

...This thread is the worst during info droughts.

No it's not, it is the worst when people get into pointless arguments. Not even discussion, it is just arguments over opinions where no one will get swayed. But any thread is like that, but sadly it happens too often in this thread.

BigEvilTurtle, why would you do this to me?! :(

I would love Banjo & Kazooie.

Just to add on, I think his side-smash should be Breegull Bash. The move is hilarious, and fits for a side attack.

He should also be able to glide.

Edit: His dash attack will be his roll.

Honestly, I cant wait until smash comes out and were all asking for our NNIDs and scheduling matches and holding gaf tournaments with all the people ive been communicating with for possibly over a year when it comes out, just the thought of it excites me

Just to reiterate (and to get everyone's hopes up!): up until now, we've gotten a new character every four weeks and a new stage every two weeks. We are currently due for both. With only one day left in the week, it's possible we'll get a character reveal, stage reveal, or both (like Pikmin) tomorrow.

I don't usually hype myself up for things like this (I wasn't expecting Smash Bros. news during the Pokémon Direct), but I've just got a feeling.

tomorrow as in japan time or tomorrow as in when most of us will actually call a tomorrow?

Pokemon Trainer reveal tomorrow... hopefully

The time is right!

I'm hoping for a veteran reveal via pic of the day (like Olimar) and a newcomer trailer to be included in a Nintendo Direct near TGS. Two characters in a single month is something that's going to have to happen eventually.

We need a magic user! beside Zelda, maybe the Avatar from Awakening could join.

And yeah, I kinda agree with your point regarding Ridley but it´s true that we need more Metroid reps... sadly there are not that many.
Not comfortable with the idea of a non-Lord getting in. If we're going to have a magic-based user, I'd like to see Master Knight Leaf (which he uses in Fire Emblem 4) instead. Plus it'd give Judgral some nice representation.

I'm hoping that Ridley gets in this game. While I'm not of the belief that any character is needed, Ridley is one of the few characters left that can hype the game (and one of the few All-Stars left that's not yet playable) and it'd be a shame if Ridley was left out.
You guys think Sakurai will come up with some brand new mechanics that might slightly change how the game is played (e.g. Brawl's smash balls)? Or do you think he will stick to conventional ways and simply tweak gameplay and introduce new stages, items, and characters?
Each game has had such a thing occurred. I think that a lot of ideas Sakurai have will be ideas he scrapped from previous games.
I agree with Green Mamba. I don't want visual character damage in Smash. Stuff like that fits on games like Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, and even Punch-Out, but seeing a battered and bruised Kirby on Smash would be simply disturbing.
Both Punch-Out!! and Super Smash Bros. have a CERO A rating IIRC. If it can work for Punch-Out!!, it can also work fro Smash. Perhaps make the damage look humorous like they do in Punch-Out!!

Pokémon Trainer tomorrow, Palutena for TGS

believe

I'm not feeling tomorrow. It's a possibility, but, I don't know. With TGS just around the corner and a likely fall Nintendo Direct around the same time, they might be holding back a bit for that.

EDIT: That said, I would really like them to reveal Captain Falcon just so he can make many future glorious pic of the day appearances.

man I really cant wait til paluetena's reveal...jesus only smash can get me like this, im letting the hype consume me

I think anthony planning to host first tournament if I recalled correctly. I'm very exciting to see what we would ended up maining.

Yeah, I had that feeling but I would blame on you if we don't get what we want. ;P

Unless you meant Snake Snake. Then no.

I didn't even know that you can change into snake in that game.

fox will always be my main, always and forever, it just so happens that the character from my favorite series is the one im good with, what will be most interesting will be my 2nd and 3rd main, in 64 it was pikachu and captain falcon, in melee, it was roy and bowser, and in brawl it was ike and I believe lucario.

I doubt Pokémon Trainer is going to be revealed tomorrow. Considering that Pokémon is releasing in October, I would expect a Pokémon reveal then. My guess is that the Pokémon Trainer or Jigglypuff will be revealed next month. I'm hoping for Jigglypuff because I want the original twelve to finally be starters (I mean, they're 99.99999999999% coming back, so why wait for confirmation?). As for this month, I think we will get a reveal, but I think this month will be for a newcomer.

If we get a newcomer, these are the ones I can see (if they're in):
Ridley
Little Mac
Mii
Palutena
Takamaru
Chrom

If a veteran is revealed this month, these are the ones I can see:
Zelda
Yoshi
Ice Climbers
King Dedede
Captain Falcon
Ness

I seriously can't wait to play you guys, its going to be so much fun. I know I have Pit, Bowser, and Megaman down for the moment. :)

I main random (mostly)

But glad to see someone else maining Pit since it's pretty rare to see someone play as Pit since I'm only Pit and Ganondorf user in the area.
