Actually, no. I don't know if anyone remembers this but back in 2008, Xplay showed an exclusive 12 minute look at GTA 4 the weekend before it came out.

theres nothing "lead" about only having the option(mandatory) to install 8 of the 15 gigs and having to do it with a 1x speed drive, vs fully installing all 15 on 360 which takes about 5 min for a full 7.5 disc and Rockstar announced they developed the game to recognize that and not require disc swapping.

A little over a week I can't believe we're this close it's been a long wait guys I haven't been this excited for a game in YEARS. At one point I was heavily considering quitting video-games for a while until the Game Informer Blowout last year. It's been major hype-train ever since and at this point I just want this game in my PS3.

So, with all the happenings of the last week I are now confused; order online for delivery (UK) or pre-order for digital download via PSN?
Rumours of Royal Mail strike action had me worried initially, and now the instruction from Rockstar to online retailers (mine is currently pre-ordered via Shopto) not to dispatch earlier... it is sounding slightly dodgy for mail order copies to arrive early/on time.
Kind of want to avoid the mad rush at my local 24h Tesco's etc, plus have probably left it too late now anyway to pre-order a copy for the midnight release.
Am thinking best bet might now be to cancel my Shopto order and pay the extra £10 for the digital PSN version, at least that way I can download at midnight on the 16th. I have fast, reliable broadband where I live so should come down fast enough I guess.

Since you're in Europe you'll be able to preload it on the 13th if you go the digital route.
You could buy two £25 PSN cards from Shopto for £20.86 and pay for it via that.

Changed my order from the standard to collectors edition. At least with that its more of a guarantee to come launch day with TNT unlike Royal Fail.
If you want to pickup at midnight I always find the petrol stations such as BP or Tesco hold stock and they are usually quiet so no long ques. I got Modern Warfare 3 from my Tesco garage at 12:05am since there was like 3 people waiting.

I think that was a Post Office strike, not a Royal Mail strike. They're different entities. Royal Mail might be striking at some point but it won't happen in the next two weeks.

That's not actually a bad idea, but I'm reluctant to go digital with a full retail game. Sure, I might get it a few hours earlier, but it's stuck on my hard drive and tied to an account :[
But as with the recent The Last of Us, it might run a bit better streaming direct from the HDD vs Disc? The load times of the PSN version were a lot faster, I compared my disc copy to a friends digital one. Am thinking it might have a noticable difference for a game like GTA where a lot of the content is constantly streaming from disc etc.

These fanboy posts make my day especially if they are wrong when they are talking about technical specs of the PS3. It is 2x speed drive, not 1x.

Oh, yeah possibly.
I dunno, if it were earlier in the gen then I wouldn't have that concern about it not being physical, but knowing that next-gen is round the corner and PS4 has no BC, it's making me reluctant to make many digital purchases which will be stuck on the old console (which may even be sold down the line for the next-gen).
That being said, I don't think I'd be upgrading for a fair while yet and perhaps there'll be some form of special BC implemented for titles like GTA due to their proximity to release and their expected popularity (please).
I'll flip a coin closer to the day.
Really? I mean I was only assuming but all the marketing focusing on PS3, trailers being done on PS3 and I figured, since the PS3 version of GTA4 ran well,.. not ideally - they would make the PS3 the lead for this, so that it could get more attention.
