To me they are somewhat equally as bad, for MGS4, well, that just isn't practical at all and as Kojima has said they are just doing it "because" rather than an actual reason. As for Halo and Cortana, her design imo has always been out of place, especially in Halo 4 as graphics have improved, it just looks stupid to have a virtual woman who looks completely naked minus the smaller details in the typical military environment of the games.

As a girl, I did find Cortana in Halo 4 to be a little...too naked. But Kojima's design for this girl in MGS5 is just as bad if not worse. I remember when I first saw the trailer, I rolled my eyes when she appeared. Kind of turned me off from the game.

Didn't all this started when Anita sarkeesian showed up? So....since 2012? I really don't remember much complaining about character designs at all before that. Now it's all the rage. And it's mostly about Japanese character designs too, if not only about JP designs.
I didn't see them complaining about butt naked women in God of War, whose purpose in the games are to have sex with.

Metal Gear has had lots of sexualized female character before, but this one is pretty different thing, they weren't almost naked and that torn pantyhose is really really trashy and just there for fetish/pandering. I think this one went too far, say Eva/Sniper Wolf/Fortune or b&b units with tight cloths/weird camera angles they had are 'modest' in comparison.

Yeah I was a huge fan of him back when he was a 1UP Yours/Listen Up regular, he saved me a few hours a week of podcasts to listen to.
Him joining that show was the beginning of the end for it. Terrible.

In all fairness to 343, Cortana has always been a nude blue woman with weird patterns on her. It's just the fact that with the evolution of polygons and what have you, she looks like an actual woman rather than a funny cartoon girl. What did you all want them to do? Make her look less human? Sure they probably made her a bit more curvy and whatnot but it's not like they overhauled her design.
