Controller folks, how do you handle targeting? Especially with fates, with 5 million characters on screen?

I hit A and half the time I end up targeting someone else's Carbuncle.
You can setup target filtering in the menus, L2+face button to activate a filter. Once a filter is activated you can use dpad left and right to cycle. For example set filter to "enemies" and then dpad left and right will only select things you can stab.

Is the only way to reset attribute points the Grand Company item that costs 10k seals? I was leveling Arcanist and putting points in Int but then unlocked Scholar and wanna change those points to Mind.

Does anyone have an idea as to why I can't seem to get my limit break to go off? I'm a SMN, going through Haukke Manor, tried to use it on the last boss, was spamming the shit out of it and not a single thing was happening. I don't get it... :(

how bout PUG/MNK? STR all day as well?

Yeah. I don't get why SE tried to give a sense of freedom with the attribute points, when it's obvious where one should allocate their points to for respective classes (i.e. STR for LNC/PUG, VIT for MRD/GLD, etc). Well... it's not that obvious, but yeah...

I saw a "should of" instead of "should have" in one of the dialogue boxes.

Man, that shit kills the immersion :(

lol

Do you have the Limit Break bar full? Is the Limit Break action in your hot bar?

Right now yes. One of the best perks of the class! (although I think they will address things concerns when more classes get this problem we are the only job that changes roles from their base right now so they likely just pushed things through like they are rather than make something elaborate for one job).

Mages have a targeting circle like other ranged AoE attacks that will come up after you press it to move into the proper position. If you don't it will cancel I guess, to not waste the LB.

Yes and yes.

Maybe I didn't notice a targeting circle come up, I was spamming the action and really didn't notice a single thing happen. I'll keep a closer eye on this next time, thanks!

Godlike advice. Would have never known this. Thanks so much - sick of cycling through 105024 "Azure Carbuncle" before I find an enemy.

Is anyone here online and on Durandal server? Have a favor to ask if any kind souls about.

I'm Edin Gill in game.

couple questions..

What is considered the proper "rotation" for SMN? Also, i like to play both SMN and SCH, how should i do my attribute points?

How much fate xp do you guys get in parties over level 40? 90% of the time I get 10k xp, 230 seals. 20k when it's a long battle with one mini boss.

If I got a 4500 ish on the benchmark, would I be able to play the PC version somewhat ok? Might get it today If I can. It looked fine to me, don't know how it'll be in the full game though.

I am eternally gold-poor. I can never get too high a price for my items on the market, and as an armourer I keep paying out the arse for leathers since theres only so many hand vocations I can be arsed with since mining is SUCH FUN.

I think airship should be free after you join a GC so thats not an expense with all the really shitting tedious fetch quest stuff they can drop on you at any given time (returns to Minfillia WE HAVE A FUCKING MOBILE PHONE DEVICE, or go and fetch this food item from the starting market zones).

Got fucking annhilated by two Halitostropers the other day after finally becoming a Warrior, getting Chocobo Summon and believing my own hype.

So I just beat Aurum Vale.

And I never wanna go thru that ever again.

Tanking that was nothing but pure stress.

i think i finished that dungeon 5-6x to learn it and get that minion. i like it now. but yea, tanking some dungeons with all those adds and constantly dodging 100 area effects can get pretty taxing. you just tire out.

People in my FC were complaining about Haukke Manor being really hard and I went through that last night and I'm just not seeing it.

The last boss is probably the start to the challenging bosses in this game. You don't see mechanics like that until then. It's not too bad though.

The real pain in the ass dungeons don't start until Sunken Temple.

If I'm not interested in becoming an Alchemist or a crafter of any kind, should I just sell any crafting materials I have?

i just unlocked dragoon and am lvl 30, but im out of leve allowences, lvling goes so slooooooooooooooow now

Fate groups. Lots of fate groups. At level 30, you can go to Costa De Sol and join some groups for the fates there. That will get you to 35+ pretty fast.

I hit A and half the time I end up targeting someone else's Carbuncle.

Playing on PS3 and figured out some nice controller tips:(Just associate similar buttons to an Xbox pad if on PC)

-When holding L2/R2 for your skills access and targeting something, you can tap L1 to cycle through available targets. This is a gamechanger for me as I also had some sluggishness trying to manually target with the d-pad or hitting X. Only issue is that Carbunble and other summons seem to be a part of that list, even if you dig through the menus and filter them off for targetting. I expect this will be fixed in a patch, but not a big deal to work-around. Bottom-line though, tapping L1 lets you smoothly keep using skills from one enemy to the next. L1 is like Tabbing targets on a traditional PC MMO.

-As mentioned, you can also turn on other target filtering options, such as L1+o for tabbing targets, L1+X for party members or whatever. Very customizable if you dig through the options. Though I don't bother with it.

-Also, clicking in L3 will lock-target, which I find handy. Keeps the action centered nicely to your target. Found the game a bit awkward before I started using this. (I now set the options to auto lock enemies as well, off by default)

-Clicking R3 with any menu open will cycle the size of open windows. Good for PS3 players for help reading small text boxes or open windows. There are three size options you can scale at any time. Amazed how many hours it took me to discover this...

to add to this. Disable the top option in that menu otherwise you automatically switch back and have to keep pressing the Filter buttton(L1+face button) to switch after you target something

Dear Customer,

Thank you for contacting the Square Enix Support Centre.

Please note that we would not be able to transfer a game (your version 1.0 game) over another game (your recently purchased and registered game under Collector's Edition).

We can however upgrade your existing V.10 account to a Collector's Edition, if you agree to the following conditions:
- you will not get the 30 free days added to the service account we add the Collector's Edition on
- The new service account will be cancelled.

If however you would rather have this latest purchase cancelled and refunded, please let us know so we can proceed to a refund.

If you have purchased the game from another retailer than us, we can only help with upgrading your V1.0 game to Collectors Edition.

Please let us know what you wish us to do and we will be happy to proceed.

Kind regards,

The Square Enix Support Centre team

eh. i guess i have to forfeit the 30 days. sucks too. since i bought it from gmg. and lord knows if gmg would give me a refund. doesn't matter. $10/month isn't bad anyways. i just want my CE items on main account.

Hey guys, I asked this a while back but I'm still not sure of the answer.

Would I be able to add a second PC key to my SE account later on so that I could play two of my current characters simultaneously?

The gf wants to play but, as you know, sales have been halted. I figure this is a good way for her to start a character without having to start over on a new account later.

You got a reply from the SE Support Centre?!?! You lucky bugger!

How long did it take after raising the ticket?

I'd still hold on to most of it just in case. You may change your mind once you want to start slotting materia in your equipment, which you won't be able to do unless you level up certain crafting professions. Unless you really need the money, which you prob don't outside of buying new gear on the AH.

Christ almighty. :[

This kind of thing is making me wary of replacing my lost Security Token with a new one. When they finally do get around to removing it for me, I may just keep my account Token-less.

Man, people need to stop reducing the price in the market so much.

too late. bought good gears under 1000 gils lol. there's always that one person doing it.

to be honest they were probably have an influx of emails since early access and official launch when the game was giving us errors.

Leve allowances are such a buzzkill. Just got my quest to earn a chocobo and given that my daily tickets mostly go to my crafting quests for leveling, now I have to manage the allowances for earning grand company currency as well with them as well. Really hate how pithy the daily allowances are.

Use your leve allowances for tradecraft and fieldcraft only, IMO. Get your seals from FATEs. Plus, getting 3 allowances every 12 hours isn't too bad.

Core i5-650 and Radeon 7950...getting about 20-30FPS. (1080p max settings)

Should I expect a substantial improvement when upgrading to i7-4770? Looking at the performance chart in task manager, my CPU never really seems to be tasked that much...

Try disabling HDR rendering. It doesn't seem to have any visual impact, and will greatly improve FPS.

Freaking seriously. I was steadily selling an item for 4k...sold about 15. Then someone dumps a bunch on there for 1k.......that's not even how you undercut. No idea what these geniuses are thinking.

If I can somehow manage to find the hard copy pc version, does the code allow me to download the game? My laptops cd drive is broken.

After not even seeing cancer three fights in a row on PS3 I think I'm freaking done with that version except for screwing around, farming and crafting.

Wait, do FATE's automatically give me guild seals? Or do I have to activate a quest to earn them from FATE's first? I thought you only earn seals from doing the Levequests or turning in crafted supplies?

Dear god, I just can't get a group for the Copperbell mines to save my life. Sat in queue for over an hour and it stayed 0/1 0/1 1/2 for the four slots. Must be that everyone, their mother and their dog are playing DPS.

Should have made a healer or tank.

Well you can switch any time if it becomes too bad.
