PS VITA TV announced (~$100, Vita set top box - as in it has no screen - for TVs)

Hmm.. I was wondering about that..

A simple Apple TV like remote would be an important thing to add.

HDMI CEC might be supported like on PS3 slim onwards, the PDF only mentions it for turning on your tv but I wouldn't be surprised if the x,o, and dpad will work via your TV remote if you have a recent TV.

I haven't posted on GAF for a week and won't be posting here for a while. I probably shouldn't even be here now because my intentions aren't all that pure.

First off: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=75509751&postcount=75

The people who gave me shit in that thread can eat it.

Also... I had the PS4 feb title list, the majority of the E3 games for MS and Sony, I was the only leaker that had the PS4 release date not in october. I also had the VR headset and now the bold Vita moves. Y2Kev can vouch that I had them specifically, and he may even admit that he didn't believe me.

Anyway, I'm done. My sister in law was murdered by her husband about two weeks ago and it's making me re-examine my life. I'm not leaving gaf forever (unless this post gets me banned forever)... but I need to get away from the petty squabling. I'm also sick of being the leak guy... and i'm also disgusted with myself that I enjoy being that person. I'm getting attention for shit I didn't do... I just have good friends in good places. That said, verendus sucks - he doesn't give anything specific and has been coasting off of what legit folk like myself have been posting. CBoaT is the greatest internet personality of alltime but he hasn't had a banner year and he clearly isn't a sony insider because it was logistically impossible for the PS4 to come out in October... so he was just repeating industry rumors. Not that I've never been wrong, because I have, and CBoaT is still the king. But I hate that i even care about this shit and compare myself.

I wrote a blog post about it here.

Also... Sony just killed it, again, with a ton of games without having to reveal any of their huge first party games. Anyone doubting this lineup is high. And in a final move of disgusting self promotion, if you haven't heard of NUad you should read this. Microsoft wants you to pay $100 so they can advertise to you... it's well sourced. I couldn't believe how much of this info was out there (though it's all from pre-NSA leaks... MS has STFU about data collecting since then). So check that out if you want to.

Back to my break from GAF. I ain't mad atcha, I just need to not be in threads like this making posts like this. And when I do come back my days of being a leaker are over. I don't want or like the attention.

Well fuck dude, that's awful news about your sister in law.

Gaf will still be here when you come back, so don't sweat it.

Its called the DS3 ..

I can use that, you can use that, but my parents and my sister pick up a controller for the first time and instantly don't know how to use it. You might think it's crazy, but people that don't play games are very put off by modern controllers (case in point: the Wii).

This has the potential to be an incredible gateway/entry level device. A simple Apple TV type remote would go a long way to increasing its attractiveness to casual consumers.

Maybe the western model will have a remote, who knows.

The mini usb port on this and the new vita, can it be used somehow to increase storage? If not on the new vita what about the VitaTv or is it strictly for charging only i wonder.

Holy shit.

I say this as part of the Vita is doomed brigade, but this could honestly be a game changer.

This is a $100 home console. This is not a handheld. People love cheap consoles. Sony just needs to get games on it.

This is awesome. Im in day 1. Now there will never be a drought of games to play between releases on the Vita/PS4. Nintendo should have done this with the 3DS

So without combing through 45 pages of posts, has it been determined if PSN Network purchased Vita games work with this? PSN Network in general has to for PSOne and PSP games, so I don't see a good reason as to why it wouldn't for Vita games as well.

The big Vita push at Gamescon makes more sense now. My question is if this will eat into PS4 sales or vice versa though. Maybe im missing something but what is the point of this?
This won't eat into any PS4 sales. This thing will only solidify the PSV/PSP ecosystem. I think this will expand their market. If it doesn't light the world on fire then fine but this is a very good idea none the less.

Absolutely no reason for me not to get this. This is a muuuuuuuch better option for me rather than buying the handheld.
This is how a lot of people will see it as well. A very cheap entry level PSV that plays PS1/PSP titles and streams your PS4 games. This could really expand the reach of the box where you can now play PSV games on your TV and have streaming services in the box with PS4 streaming for the ultimate media device. I imagine you can do a media center type thing like PS3 Media server feeding you PS4 then streaming that to the VitaTV.

I wish these were hitting the UK in time for Christmas, I can think of a few people I'd buy one for. Give the gift of Vita.

Vita means life™

It is literally a Vita without the screen, so yes, those will work just dandy.

I think there's a tweet about it work with bluetooth remote and playstation remote

Isn't the PS Remote just a branded Bluetooth remote? Maybe they'll bundle a Bluetooth remote in for the US release if they're playing up the media angle. IR parts can't be that expensive, it's a weird thing to choose to skip for a media box.

So do I need to plug in my Vita for Vita TV?

Vita TV has a Vita hardware inside, its a full console that you connect to HDTV and play Vita games, PSP and PS1 games [but you dont have OLED screen, front touch, back touch, analog stick, buttons, speaker, 2 cameras, gyros, 3G, etc]. :D

So I'm guessing when DS4 support is patched it, the DS4 touchpad will allow for more compatibility? (Uncharted, LBP, etc.)

Yes. DS4 support will come.

Seems great. I am considering getting one just to play the download PSP collection I foolishly bought years ago. Also wouldn't mind getting this and a year of PS+ just to try out Gravity Rush and WipEout 2048.

It's a very cool device but kind of makes no sense. A lot of the Vita games are already on the PS3, a lot are console ports, and the reason for the Vita is for portability.

Like I said, kind of makes no sense.

It's a media box that lets you play Vita/PSP/PS1 games. Plus stream your PS3/PS4 games. All at a lovely budget price. This is fucking great. It's the first step in streaming all your games, anywhere you want.

The only thing that makes no sense is why would they give the Vita name. Which might be a kiss of death if they don't market it well enough. PS TV would have been better.

THE VITA WE DIDN'T DESERVE. Plus the ability to remote play my PS4 to other tv screens? Fuck yes, give me 4 Sony.

This... sounds crazy. It's limited use obviously, and not something that I'll probably need, but that seems like a much better solution than buying multiple consoles for a single house. (I suppose this would work with streaming something like Netflix too? Will be interesting to see.)

What

Please, direct me to where I can preorder a PS4 for £210.

Go on.

I'm assuming he means you can buy a PS4 and a PS Vita TV for the price of a Xbox One. Clearly misleading but you have the ability to play the PS4 on two TV's (just not at the same time of course) with this setup.

GIGATON. With a much larger install base, we're going to see a lot more games being developed for the Vita. While it sort of competes with the Vita, it's going to help it a lot.
