Not really hard to dodge Landslide, you get a fucking bowling alley lane appear on your screen, just move away from it

Stupidest thing you can do is be in that lane, move and jump thinking it will save you, even though if you jump your location is still where you jumped from, not the place your landing at
So some fall do it

I'll have to strongly disagree, it can be hard to dodge Landslide thanks to lag. More than once I was out of it by a good margin on my screen, yet I was still hit once it went off. I was lucky enough to not fall down the pit (it still happened twice) most of the time when it happened, but it wasn't fun.

I can see a tank lose agro if he's managing many guys at once for a bit, but if your party properly binds a few guys... you pretty much need to do about 2-3x the damage of the pld to overpower the aggro, but most likely something is off with the rotation.

Gotta do way more damage than that. Aggro multipliers for tanks goes up to 8x I believe.

And remember tanks have to deal with that bullshit EVERY BOSS.

This has been an ongoing issue since at least phase 3 of the beta.

then all tanks I played with where poor in their rotation? I always attack the same mob as the tank, unless needed.

I've seen great tanks lose agro to WHM doing crazy AoE heal spams, doing nothing but during Titan for some reason without letting up even when he jumps and never shrouding. Some people are really erratic with casting.

For the most part it's super solid when you have hate, even with two PLDs going at something with shield oath, it's hard to pull from another if they're equally geared and one had the jump on the mob to start.

Yea, don't really appreciate the "GUYS THERE IS A FUCKING BOWLING ALLEY YOU'RE SO BAD" sentiment.

There were several times on my screen I was out of the way and got hit early on. Eventually I just ran until he did it to make sure I was as out of the way as possible.

Then last nigth we were in Darkhold and the end boss who does his similar bowling alley attack that would 1 hit KO me and did a couple times even though I was clearly out on my screen by a considerable margin.

Ah Medica spam, even tanks cant hold hate on that shit

Just because you got an AOE healing spell, doesn't make Cure be relegated to one of those backup spells
Medica is a Oh shit, need heals for everyone like after Titan gets withered to 50% and his heart goes down

Were you near a wall?, sometimes those boundary lines/invisible walls get you in trouble lol

I've been on both ends, from a tank perspective you can see literally everyone who is about to get wailed on. I've seen a ton of people claim they were out of landslide when to me they didn't make it before the cast went off.

People keep assuming the AoE mark is what matters when the cast bar is the determining factor. At the same time, I've been on butt duty on Titan and feel that pain. It's shitty all around.

No, you are just confusing the visual disappearing with the time the ability executes. Thats wrong. It executes when the cast bar completes, if the enemy has a cast bar for that ability. The visual is always appear slightly later and vanishes slightly late, and it has absolutely nothing to do with when the ability triggers. All it does is define the area where it will damage you. You can be 1 pixel outside of the visual telegraph and take no damage, the issue isn't where you were, but WHEN.

The problem with medica spam is that if you hit people who don't need it and grant yourself a ton of enmity from overhealing. It's fucking scary how well medica can pull hate if it's abused.

Just went through the character list on the first page. I noticed a lot of names of people playing on Sarg in the FC Red Dogt but also noticed a lot of names that I have never seen speak. If you guys are playing, SPEAK UP! We don't bite!

Yay! Looks like my account is up and running again. Did suck I wasn't able to play yesterday, but it's good to know my account is safe and I'll be able to log back in.

Oh wow. Finally had the courage to return to Copperbell and found a STELLAR party. The tank marked targets and was new too. The healer was a real boss, and the DPS Archer was a real badass who soloed the slime when me and the tank got wiped by a Bomb.

Nobody screamed at anyone, even when I didn't know how to use a Limit Break during the final boss of the dungeon. That was a great experience.

Shame the first couple times were filled by assholes.

Yes and no. The first fight none of us knew what we were up against besides kill the crystals. The first fight I was near a wall, later on though I was not. Ended up dying 3 times. 2 wipes and I died on the 3rd fight but a WHM was awesome and got me up. The 3rd time especially it was like my jaw hit the desk b/c of how far away I was.

Shhhh
;D

I tend to be a flash heavy PLD. I don't spam it, but early in the rotations it appears often. For groups mobs I usually do:

Shield Lob -> Flash | Circle of Scorn -> Fast blade -> Savage blade | Spirits -> Flash -> Rage.-> Rotation -> Rotation -> Flash -> repeat.

If need be I'll throw in FoF/Rampart, but usually not needed. If damage is divided across mobs (aoes/pets) then I will cycle target the combos.

For adds during boss fights that spawn. 1 add Shield Lob - Flash -> Bash | Scorn -> Fast (main mob/boss) -> Savage (add) -> Rage (add) -> Flash. I usually just go back to boss at this point as hate is usually pretty set. I'll switch back if the mob isn't dying quickly (Like the priest in AK).

For multiple adds (Flan fight in WP). I will usually open with flash and follow the same lead, albiet with more flashes as cycle targeting 4+ adds is a pain.

HONESTLY. The best hate keeping tool? Target markers. Use them all the time and quickly, even if you have to set them during a fight. It's much easier to hold mobs if the DPS are focused on one.

I'd rather have assholes who know how to do dungeons and fulfill the role rather than incompetent party members. That's just me though.

Isn't that still a small issue? I would imagine most people are going to key on the huge visual right in front of them and not the small cast bar somewhere on their screen.

Yeah, medica is more an 'oh shit' button for the party in cases every drops hp, and by a lot. The golem fight in Sunken Temple is one and Titan is another. Don't abuse it and you shouldn't pull hate. Regen is also your best friend.

And remember tanks have to deal with that bullshit EVERY BOSS.

to be fair, Titan's blue move rarely ever aims at the tank lol.

fun time when your party's healer is playing on a bad computer/laggy connection and gets knocked off the every first blue attack.

This doesn't really have anything to do with the current discussion, it's just a random thought I had just now.

Wouldn't it be awesome, if in a future update, they gave users the ability to use armor dyes on Magitech Armor?

Let's never play together then! I just want to have fun and do my best. If my party finishes a dungeon, it means everyone played their role well IMO.

It never aims the tank (or whoever is top aggro).

I'm just saying every other boss the tank has to deal with dodging that laggy shit.

well sometimes one of your goofy minions end up behind you for some reason so you have to dodge ;)

I really wish more bosses/sub bosses can be stunned/pacified or what not :(

Speaking of Titan, keep seeing tanks who sit through those bombs he drops.
You can move to the edge of the map between the two bombs and completely dodge the explosions... or just get nailed and hope the WHM is there, but seems like bad form to take 2k in damage even mitigated.

Man, I have never been hit outside of a reticule in a single fight since phase 3, even if I run out of the area last second. I must be like right next to the servers or something.

Problem. I tried buying the PC version couple days ago on the SE store. Shortly after I get an email saying it was backordered. Also said I would not be charged until it ships, and I'd get another email when/if it ships. I noticed just now I got a charge for the game, but no ship email. I thought I canceled it soon as I got the backorder email.

I can't find a phone # or support email anywhere on their site. Can anyone help me?

DAT 150 TP usage

1-2 shield bashes and there goes 1/3rd of your TP bar lol

AK runs if Spirits Within is down you can just use that on the first boss to stun spells, but yes, if DPS are slow and you've had to resort to more than 3 because of bad spirits timing, it get to the point where you're hoping the boss dies soon because you're running at 200 TP.

no cooldown though. and 6 sec stun. soo good.

shield swipes is nice too when you have a decent enough shield block.

im still not entirely sure what pacification does lol. i'm not entirely sure whats a weaponskill for a giant lizard.

Overhealing threat is ridiculous. It almost makes Regen unusable because one tick for 100% of overheal guarantees adds will be on your face the second they spawn.

Playing the role fine is perfectly fine with me. My main problems are when a dps tries to tank because he doesn't wait, a tank doesn't reaggro cuz he thinks he's a fucking dps, and when a healer doesn't do heals and wants to just run around like a derp. That is incompetence. There's a difference between being inexperienced and being idiotic.

Pacification is when you can't use your weapon skills. When a Warrior uses Berserk, he gets a period of increased damage and then can do nothing for 5 seconds (except Flash/Provoke). I think it might even stop autoattacks, though the swing timer is so long I haven't noticed.

The stun on Shield Bash is only 3 seconds.

Keep in mind that when the read area disappears it has "gone off". The actual attack animation is nothing but the outcome. If you are still in the area before disappears you ARE already hit by it.

Latency will always play a roll in this... I don't believe this will ever be "fixed" or even improved at this point.

So Army's Paeon is actually good later on?

Sigh, I still haven't gotten my game registered. There's no option on Mog Station anymore, aside from creating a new service account.

I've sent them two emails, can't get through on their phone line.

Is there any way to register the game for someone with a 1.0 account? I just want my free time. :(

FYI Pacification doesn't stop autoattacks just weaponskills :)

What is it that you're trying to do? 1.0 account holders don't have to register for anything, you just play on the account that you were using at the time. Your characters should still be there.

yea shield swipe puts pacification on the enemy. It seems to sometimes stop aoe moves, but sometimes not. my theory is that it doesn't work on aoe debuff moves, but im not sure.

bash is buffed to 6 seconds in the 30s.

Pacification can work on some enemies that aren't stunnable and vice versa. Really helps for melee enemies that you can't stun. Basically works like stun, but they still get to slap you with regular attacks.

Don't see enough tanks using shield swipe.
Doesn't ruin your rotation, basically like a second slightly weaker halone that deals pacification instead of str down. If I can pop it, it works like a small burst damage at the end of my regular rotation.

How easy or hard is tanking in this game, anyway? I keep getting mixed messages about it.

Some people say it's super easy and never have any trouble, I'm having problems personally, and some people talk about how hard it is to find a good tank.

It makes me wonder if I suck at tanking or if having some trouble managing aggro is normal.

Tanking in this game is straightforward in terms of your skill set and your role. However this game has some pretty crazy aggro management mechanics, if you're not constantly spamming skills to hold aggro the DPS or healer WILL take the mob and after that happens it is very hard to get it back. Also this game is based on constantly attacking to hold aggro, you don't just spam a few taunts and then just stand there the rest of the fight. Tanking can be fun and challenging in this game, especially in the endgame encounters.

Once you have the basics down, you get into a pretty mindless habit.
The thing is you're ALWAYS doing something, always having to watch everyone, always having to keep on your toes so things are more exciting. Least for me it is.

Also instaqueues (when dutyfinder works) isn't half bad.

Some tanks work slightly different in their rotations.
I'm partial to popping FoF/Bloodbath > Scorn + Fracture for quick damage & DoT/HoT effects. I mean if you can pop that between regular rotations and cap it with a spirits within, it makes for a nice burst of damage without running anything.

Others will do different stuff, but it's all in how you roll.

Is anyone else using a combination of keyboard, G keys, and mouse buttons for their abilities?

Right now, I have 3 horizontal hotbars. One is for 1 thru equals is the Ctrl+1 thru = and the other is Alt+1 thru =. Was thinking about arranging my bars in a way so that they matched my key setup. Something like this:

U0TUttA.png

Was wondering if anyone did something similar and had any thoughts or tips?

Yea, shield swipe is great. 200 attack potency after a block on a GCD, and also prevents weaponskills for a few seconds? Yes please.

think its 170, but yeah its great, especially when you get that block boost skill.

doesn't generate much aggro, but its fine to spam against 1 enemy.

Many final bosses are sadly immune to pacify though T_T

I did about 20 AK Speed runs over the weekend and damn I am convinced that this game needs some sort of Gear Item Level prerequisite for dungeons. People in Lv.30 gear should not be queuing for AK as the dungeon is heavily gear (especially weapon) dependent.

I also did HM Ifrit a dozen times - it's easy with a PLD offtank for stuns and a caster DPS for Meteor to burn down the phase 2 transition. When there were parties with 2 WAR tanks and no caster DPS, people would just bail.

Get ready for some serious elitism shit in this game :/

I'm unfamiliar with some of these terms. What's LOS and EHPV? Line Of Sight and... I don't have a guess as to the other one.

Equivalent Health Point Value - one of the ways that theorycrafters are discovering the actual values on Enmity and the quotients involved in certain skills. Current study shows that Enmity is based on such a value and direct increases in DMG/Heal affect the Enmity table. I have a theory (just a theory though since I've yet to get a parser running) that damage mitigated (ie. Rampart) and healed (ie. Blood Bath) affect the table as well (this happens in WoW iirc).

Never seen anybody this bad to be frank haha. As a DPS I stick to the tank, try to not aggro anything and I kill what is marked.

However, my first times in Copperbell were filled with people who hurled racial epithets at people because it was their first time doing the dungeon, all the way to massively insulting the healer because he pulled ONE Bomb. I'd much rather play with people who make mistakes but are nice and trying to have fun, than a guy who's a beastly tank but is literally a nuisance in the chat.

But yeah, I'd quit if I was playing with a team as bad as you described lol
