curious about whos gonna be around in 2 months. I tend to be 100% for a mmo for about 1.5 months until i reach cap. do some end game stuff, and then quit.

nothing about leveling other stuff or crafting appeals to me. pvp seems like a second thought and will probably be unbalanced like all mmos.

I plan on sticking around for Crystal Tower which is in about a month or two to see how end game truly feels with the FC. Right now the FC on Ultros is so large and a decent percentage aren't at a level to do end game that you almost have to pug all of that content. With most only being 8 mans available right now as well, if we did have a ton of people at 50, there's no guarantee that you'll run with the same people over and over again like you usually do in other MMOs, even if you are in the same FC.

Once people start leaving and maybe the level of elitism drops a bit with randoms, then end game might be more enticing to me for gear and tomes and whatnot. Right now, I'm just gathering and trying to make money to acquire my relic piece before moving on to some of the boss fights.

Yeah, linking mobs (usually of same type) will have a yellow line passing between them every few seconds or so that shows that they will link. Be on the lookout for that identifier.

But literally right outside of Ul'dah? I don't understand because it even linked the higher level turtle with the other level 3s. I'm so confused because nothing at all linked when I was leveling new characters.

Can you tell your fairy to heal a certain member of the party with the sic command? or will they just follow your lead?

I don't know actually. For one, I don't know if you can macro pet commands yet. I need to figure out which command allows me to do it.

By default, the Fairies will heal whoever is lowest in HP and you can force them to heal someone that you're targeting (at least as far as I can tell) the person you're targeting my manually hitting Embrace. It's not much of an issue for general dungeons but for some fights like Garuda, it'd be help to have your Fairy do it on command with you or ahead to save you time.

On that note, I finished Garuda last night at 44, it was pretty tough because of the server lag and some of the positioning on SCH. We managed to do it though with the SMN getting the last hit when she was about to die. It was so damn satisfying and wiping a bunch of times.

I haven't seen anything remotely like this on Faerie. Everyone is helpful and the odd bit of douchebaggery in shout gets dealt with rather swiftly by the community there.

I ran into my first real troll last night on Sarg. It was the dark devices fate that goes on for like 25 minutes total and gives about ~150k exp in total if you keep your chain going. Well for that to happen you have to farm the infinite respawning mobs and not kill the lambs. Some guy killed the lambs really early and asked why he did it, he said something along the lines of "i'm already 50, fuck you guys" & "you're losers playing a video game". I just blacklisted him. Is there a way to report players?

I don't think I've even seen linking mobs outside of dungeons. Some with aggro you, but nothing like linking mobs at all. Even then, there shouldn't be any mobs that agro right outside the gate of the city. Farther from the gate, yeah, you'll hit some aggro mobs.

Exactly. Thats why I'm so freaking confused about this all. It has only happened on my Legacy character for what its worth.

Example. I attack a level 3 mob, the level 12 big turtle and another mob instantly link towards me. I'm obviously not using any AoE attacks or anything.

Not sure what they would do to him since he was doing the FATE "right" and what players (including myself) have been doing could be considered differently by the developers. As long as he wasn't abusive and such that is...

It is my experience that the people pugging in the final set of instances in this game are the worst fucking people playing the game. Not talking about being bad players, just terrible people. Healers who never get out of cleric stance and start pulling the full instance when people aren't moving fast enough/other healer doesn't heal them so they can get someone else to leave first so they don't have to wait the 15 minutes to requeue. Tanks trying to charge gil to not suck. DPS starting bossfights when others are watching cut scenes. Everyone only out for number 1. All while using the normal ethug typing style. Hope you like being called a noob, and have it pointed out that they have their relic weapon so they must know what they are doing.

Just saying, this is something you are going to have to get use to.

Yep, starting to hate AK runs because of this. I ran with two friends last night, and it was the healer's first time. I made this clear. The other DPS wouldn't have it, and started chain pulling trash into us to wipe us just to get us to drop group. It's the worst. It's been a mixed bag though. Sometimes people are patient and realize this is a Duty Finder group so they just go with it, instead of expecting me to "speed run" it and kill myself before every boss. The sad thing is that it'd probably save me a lot on repair bills if I did it that way due to how durability degradation works in this game, :-(

As for HM Ifrit, I've been quite lucky so far, and haven't had many groups disbanding just because we didn't have a BLM/SMN, but that is largely because the rest of the group is probably from the same FC and are coordinated enough to take care of nails their way. No PLD stuns is fine when running with Duty Finder; always have two tanks and we can cover every single Eruption. The only confusion with the stun cycling is somewhere halfway through the fight where Ifrit has gone so long without an Eruption that we may mess up the stun order. Honestly, I find this more challenging and fun. It must suck to be a PLD on that fight when your one and only job is to stun.

Yeah nothing should link the Turtles - perhaps only Levequests monsters behave like that. Hmmm, I don't know what to tell you, that's awful what happened to you.

Are you in a party? Mobs should only link when you're in a party.

Saw someone looking for experienced players for Meridium 30 min runs.

For the looks of it looks like a pretty annoying dungeon to speed run, but I don't know.

You can be lucky, but better try to play (or find a good FC) with FC at that point.

I can understand if you're coming in during the middle of a Meridum, but coming in at the start is terrible since there's always a group who watches the cutscenes in story. I can't imagine wanting to ruin it for someone when AK only takes a bit of practice to run without a problem.

The idea is that these jokers think it's acceptable to run the dungeon, then watch the cutscenes later at the Inn. That would have completely ruined the experience for me. The last few dungeons, with all the cutscenes included, were among the best videogame experiences I've ever had. So much fun and so intense.

Ok that's very useful info. If you do figure out anything about macroing with pet commands let me know. I don't know how I would use them yet, even if I could, but I like to know what my options are as I get used to the class.

Didn't talk and I don't if it was cause he was foreign or wasn't a talker but was the worst. The guy barely pulled and and couldn't keep if his life depened on it. We made it though with a healer tank (lol) bard and me (lnc). We took that dungeon down like a boss. And wiped dungeon boss with lnc limit lvl 2 sweeeeeeet!!! Lol still I worry about late game wheb I have troub le finding other gaffers that need or want to do specific dungeon.

Mobs link based on the relative strength of what is attacking them. If you are 50 and attack a lvl 1 mob it will link with anything around it. If attack something your own level by yourself it won't link, but if you join a party and attack the same mob it may link.

I was bored with that character anyways so I made a pretty, healthy hellsguard. Nobody's going to have to stop what they're doing and tell me my char is ugly unless they're not down with the nose.

Its south of costa del sol, near where Cancer spawns. I think it's called return of the king, there are a lot of bomb mobs. IIRC it rewards 30 wet ash for gold and it costs 15 for 1 piece of the new suits.

When you're in a stronghold, just imagine that you're like Jaggedy Ear Jack in the starter zone for XI and the group of enemies is calling its friends to help fight.
