Oh shit. Francis Manapul and Brian Buccellato off The Flash, but are going to another unannounced DC title.

Buccellato announced the following:

If you’ve seen the solicits for FLASH #26, you may notice that @FrancisManapul and I are not listed as the creators…

We've reached the end of our Flash run. #25 is the final chapter in what's been an incredible journey with the fastest man alive. Fun times!

@FrancisManapul and I will be moving on to a NEW regular DC series that will hit stores in MARCH 2014.

We can’t tell you what the series is (yet), but we are super excited about this new sandbox we get to play in!

Slightly off topic but does anyone have any comic book podcast recommendations? Looking to update the casts I currently subscribe to, thanks.

A Tier:

1. Silence! (Best, funniest comics podcast possible)
2. Comic Geek Speak: Off the Racks [Older fellas who know their poop (mostly)]
3. ifanboy: Pick of the Week Podcast

B Tier:

1. The Comics Alternative (scholarly dudes who focus on indie and alternative comics)
2. House to Astonish
3. Wait, What?

Just started checking out 11 O'clock Comics Podcast. My first impression is that they seem informed but interrupt each other too frequently.

For real. Didn't Snyder and Capullo just sign (a few months ago) a long term deal to keep doing Batman?

Yes :)

Scott touched on the relationship between him and artist Greg Capullo. Snyder was not one to leave details to an artist and Capullo did not work with full scripts, but eventually the two became the symbiotic pair we see today. The writer described himself as Greg’s comic book wife, because of Capullo’s “WWE wrestler like physique.” Recently, the artist renewed his contract because as he told Snyder, Gotham is the only place he wants to be. Currently Scott is in the process of renewing his own contract which would have the pair staying on Batman till around issue #50.

Oh, I've been wanting to ask this too, since I was tempted to get into podcasts. So far, I'm just following 3 Chicks Review Comics.

Am i the only Comics-GAF representative reading Angel and Faith and Buffy season 9? I never see anyone comment about it, if you are, opinions? I'm trying to find the last issue of Angel and Faith in my dcbs shipment so i can finish it, i'd give it a middling 6.5 on my random number scale. It started off with some promise and peaked at the one issue drawn by Samnee, but their one idea took too long and wasn't interesting enough to sustain itself.

Wait, Johns is off Aquaman? Nooooooo. :(

Don't think I've read anything by Jeff Parker. How is he?

The only thing I read from him was Batman '66, which I liked, so you have that. Actually, I wanted to try out Johns' Aquaman, given all the good will it's gotten, although with Parker taking over, I may have to see if Geoff can round out whatever he had first before then.

Never read any of the Buffy books, but I do want to check out Willow: Wonderland as a first. Anyone here read it?

Johns was at one time writing Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Justice League and plotting Trinity War and Forever Evil. After FE, he will he writing only JL right? Wonder what else he will take on.

If memory serves, it heavily tied in to what happened in the main buffy book, i'm not sure if it would be enjoyable by itself. I ended up skipping it because I don't think Assad is willing to give up his chemical weapons and russia won't press Dark Horse on it.

Digging through the DC solicits for December...

This looks amazing:

Also, it looks like the Invisibles Omnibus was deemed too ginormous, since they're going the Deluxe HC , multi-volume route.

And I'm certainly not complaining, but how long is the current Astro City series supposed to run? I assumed it was a mini or something, but if #7 is the start of a 4-part story arc, it seems like it's sticking around. Is it an ongoing?

Wait Geoff left Aquaman? Wtf? I thought this was gonna be his magnum opus. Wonder what he's working on instead (please God be Justice League International related)

Yeah Astro City is an ongoing.

Fingers crossed Johns is going to be writing Shazam or Booster Gold.

One change that I didn't notice at first...

DETECTIVE COMICS #26
Written by JOHN LAYMAN
Art by AARON LOPRESTI
Cover by JASON FABOK

Great news! I'm a huge fan of Lopresti. Glad to see him on a higher profile title.

I've never read the Buffy comics and that's ridiculous because I was a huge, crazy, massively obsessed fan of the show. I've heard mixed things about the books. One common complaint is that season 8 starts strong and then fall off. I've heard that the quality of the Buffy comics in general is very up and down.

The only thing I've read is the Jane Espenson Buffyverse story that is ongoing in Dark Horse presents. And it's pretty terrible. And they have a male slayer! WTF! The female slayer thing is the one rule you cannot, cannot, cannot break. It's the axis on which that universe spins.

That's my complaint on Season 8, starts really good but their main plot point which is teased through the first three fourths turns out terrrrrrible when it gets down to business. Season 9 has been all over the place and never hit the high points of Season 8. The oversized hardcovers of Season 8 are ridiculously well priced ( $16 per oversized hardcover at instock trades :O ) if you're curious. My memory is a little bad on season 9 but there is a male slayer somewhere in there.

I wonder if Geoff has been asked to take over one of the big guns Superman, Batman, Flash, or Wonder Woman (once Azzerello completes his story). The first 3 are a mess right now because of editorial burning through writers and the later will become shit the second Azzerello and Cliff Chiang leave.

I could see him taking Superman, but they'll never take Snyder/Capullo off of Batman. That's the one book that doesn't need a creative change. Superman desperately needs someone to come and make it not suck.

As much as I'd love for him to come back to the Flash, I have a feeling he'll be launching a new book.

I'd bet money on Johns doing Shazam.

Johns on Wonder Woman? Man, if the way he's written her - as in, not written her - in JL is any indication, let's not do that. I don't see him returning to Flash, Batman is good, and Superman...yeah I wouldn't mind him taking over a Superman book.

Can we get a new Teen Titans creative team, pls?

How about we just shunt Lobdell off somewhere he can't hurt anyone anymore?

I bet Johns dropped Aquaman when DC decided that Arthur and Mera aren't married

There is more than one Batman book you know.
